And with the 6th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the redskins select...........

So, since the order has been decided, what are we going to do? Drop in the first, pick up picks, grab a cb in the first, foles in the second and try to stockpile?

Move up to number 3 and snag RG3?

Trade a 3rd and a TE for Sanchez, and use the first pick on Blackmon, and the second rounder on BPA?

Trade down a couple times, stockpile picks, and then start filling needs with BPA with our stockpile? (we know shanahan can do this, and can evaluate talent pretty well......)

So........since the order is set in stone, and kids are declaring, and the NFL wheels keep on rollin', what do you want to happen, or what do you think will happen?

Why in the hell would we want Dirty Sanchez?? Has anyone watched him play?? Sanchez = Grossman. IMHO.

Just throwing out possibilities, not saying I want him.......Id like to trade down in the first, pick up a second and a third somehow, and start filling the roster with capable players.

I know Grossman isn't the greatest QB, but that insult on Rex is just way too far man. :silly:

As for the draft, I'm hoping that Alshon or Floyd emerge as a top 10 talent when it's all said and done. If not, looks like the pick is going on defense, but only because we have no choice unless we reach.

With the sentiment in the media, amongst the fans, and elsewhere that the Redskins need to address the quarterback position, do we really feel like our top pick is going to go defense again and not offense?

I'm for stockpiling and maybe going with Rex as a solution for QB next year.

Barkley didn't come out so there is at least one draft prospect at QB next year. Also we'd get to fill out some more in some much needed spots.

Not endorsing the 'Rexless' turnovers that would take place next year but just saying I could handle another build year.

About 95% sure our 1st round pick won't be a defensive player.

Well, I believe stockpiling draft picks and continuing to build the team at every position is ultimately THE best way to build a champion, but I wonder how patient Redskins fans as a whole, as well as Daniel Snyder would be with another Rex lead Redskins team?

Stand pat at 6 and see if a franchise QB is available at the time, if not, trade down and continue building depth.

Don't see that happening either. Shanny has stressed that we lack offensive playmakers and we do. I don't see us using a 1st round pick on a OT maybe 3rd but picks 1 and 2 will be QB/WR or WR/QB.

SFREDSKIN 01-02-2012 12:47 PM

Re: And with the 6th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the redskins select...........

If we can't get Luck or RGIII then trade down, try to acquire another 1st rounder or 2nd rounder and 3rd rounder, draft a CB, WR/QB (whoever is best available) in the 1st or WR/QB in the 2nd, then a C, LB, etc.

There should be some good QB's in the later 1st early second rounds.

The positive is that Shanny is getting around $7M a year, so canning him early is just too expensive. Hopefully he'll use this obligitory time to his advantage & build a competitive core up among these losses.

We'll see...I'll take any product Shanny delivers though because at least it would resemble a normal NFL team, as opposed as some of the Franken-messes that have been fielded before.

Shanahan's drafts the past two years have been too sharp for something like that to happen. I haven't seen Tannehill projected as a first round QB anywhere, let alone a top 6 pick. That would be an even bigger reach than Ponder going 12th last year.

The washington redskins have traded the 6thoverall pick in 2012, their first overall in 2013 and their 2nd rounder in 2012 for the number one overall pick in 2012.

With the first pick in the 2012 NFL draft the redskins select Andrew luck QB Stanford

Tannehill has raw talent. He has only been starting at QB for a year and a half (previously played WR). His stock will skyrocket once he goes through the combine drills.

Floyd isn't half the player Blackmon is.

Jeffrey is actually the most talented, but decided to get fat over the summer.

I won't be able to form a mental picture of what the Skins might do in the draft at least until after Free Agency.

I do know this much: I read a Mike Shanahan quote where he said that the Skins need to add playmakers in the off-season and I also read a Kyle Shanahan post where he said that the Skins need a Franchise QB. I think that those two things are exactly what they will try to do but I think, at this point, how the Skins will acquire those players is up in the air.

What if the Skins were to decide that Matt Flynn can give them what they want at QB and sign him as a FA? That would certainly affect their draft strategy.

What if the Skins were to sign either WR Vincent Jackson or WR Dwayne Bowe as a FA? Would they then focus more on offensive linemen in the draft?

What if the Skins were to sign FA OG Ben Grubbs as well as Flynn and either Jackson or Bowe? Would the Skins then go for the best player available or look to draft more defenders?

Right now, I just don't know what they'll do.

If I had to guess, I'd say that they will reach to draft the best available QB at #6 (probably Landry) because they won't be able to trade up for either Luck or RGIII. The Colts will keep the first pick and draft Luck and the Browns will give up both of their first round picks this year to St. Louis to draft RGIII.

We're going to be players in FA. Count on it.

We'd have to be very lucky for that to happen. For example, St. Louis could take him at #2 or trade down with Cleveland and still pick Kalil at #5.

Re: And with the 6th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the redskins select...........

The problem is what will the Rams do? Whoever comes in as HC what will their plan be? Will they not like Bradford and yet still want to keep him to challenge for a starting job but pick up RGiii? I can see that happening.

I don't see the Skins throwing their whole draft away just to get Luck. Thats not MS's style and he pretty much said that in a comment about all the picks thrown away for Gruden to the Bucks back in the day.

So what does happen? I can see MS maybe moving up to spot 3 so long as he doesn't have to give up too much, I can see MS staying at #6 and taking whoever is still on the board at QB, and I can and figure what will happen is the team will look to trade back for more picks as he did last year. Especially if Luck and RGiii are not attainable and or if his QB he's hoping to take is gone by #6.

What would I like to see happen, I'd guess dropping back for more picks since I'm figuring Luck and RGiii will be gone by either the Colts, Rams, or Browns. Plus god knows what will happen in Tampa also, I didn't like their QB situation and I doubt any new HC will either.

I don't think St. Louis would draft Kahlil that high. Of course it could happen, just don't think it will.

In event I think the Skins could very well end up with Kahlil or RG3.

If the Rams are smart, their new head coach would see all their holes on their team and trade with us, we'd give them Jamal Brown and DeAngelo Hall, swap picks and give them I dunno a couple picks like our 3rd and 4th this year and 2nd and 3rd next year and they will definitely be in position to get Johnathan Martin or Riley Reiff Tackles from Stanford and Iowa, we get RG3.
