Snow? 2012

You know that white powder stuff that comes down when it gets cold.

Are we getting any this year?

Personally I be happy with none becasue it is just more chores for me but some folks love it.

Re: Snow? 2012

Just got our first taste today since a freak storm on Halloween, about 2-4 inches but nothing major.

I was looking at some pics the other day from last year around this time and we had snowbanks in my development that looked like mini mountains.

It rained a ton here last night, if it happen really cold we been shoveling this morning for sure.

Re: Snow? 2012

I definitely haven't missed the snow. It hasn't even been that cold so far either. I hope we can get through the rest of this month and February like this but that's probably asking for too much.

Re: Snow? 2012

Although we're supposed to get 5 inches tonight we are having a freakishly dry winter here in west Michigan like the rest of the country. Its only snowed once and that melted long ago.
I'm not complaining, I have no use for it.

Its global change once known as global cooling or global warming. Get use to the weather changing.

skinsfaninok 01-12-2012 12:44 PM

We are usually cold and have a few good size snow storms here in OK but nothing at all so far been weird

Snow is one of life's biggest inconveniences. Hate it with a huge passion. Very glad Philly hasn't had any so far, and knocking on wood so that we don't start soon.

Snow is great if you are one of the lucky few that doesn't have to deal with it.

Re: Snow? 2012

I love the snow and am extremely disappointed we haven't had any snow. I mean hell, no work, no school. Other than the shoveling and not being able to get out of your house for a couple of days, I find it pretty enjoyable.

Re: Snow? 2012

I like to get 1-2 big snows a season. I like the snow, if there's enough I get off work and can enjoy it. My main concern is with the way the winter has been going it'll be cold and snowy in June this year.

None predicted for today. I'll have to check for tomorrow......

Re: Snow? 2012

For Virginia, this winter season is supposed to be above average temps with below average precipitation. So, I doubt we get much of anything this year. Although last week, we had one day where it didn't get out of the 20's all day, and by the end of the week, the highs were in the 70's. I don't mind a warm winter, although part of the reason for getting rid of my Mustang last year was so I could have a vehicle that I could get through the snow on and of course it's like spring time all winter so far.

Meh. They had a monster season 2 years ago. Charging people 1500-2500 in my home town to plow their driveways so they could get out. If you live in the VA area and expect snow to be a significant amount of your income, you probably aren't the sharpest tool in the shed. We typically don't get too much snow.

I live just north of B-more and I think quite a few depend on it a least a little bit.

One of my favorite things about moving from NY to the deep south was never having to shovel snow again or scrape ice off of the car.

Re: Snow? 2012

I have mixed thoughts on snow, on one hand I really enjoy snowboarding, which probably wouldn't be possible without it (not sure if the resort I went to and plan on going back to has those snow making machines) but I can't stand it when it happens in NoVa. Hate shoveling snow, hate scraping ice off the car, hate missing work/going out when a large snowstorm hits. If we didn't get any in NoVa this year I'd be fine with it, but I'd still hope that WV gets some so that I can go snowboarding again in a couple weeks lol.

I never figured out why so many people in our area rush out to shovel snow around their home. It snows one day and is gone two days later. I have only shoveled snow once around here and that was last year when we got a foot of snow and I only shovled it off around the office.

What I think is funny is when people at work wish to be snowed in (because our office closes for bad weather) and then when they do get snowed in, they shovel themselves out so they can head up the road to go shopping. If you're going to do that, you can go to work!

For me, I live on a hill, and my driveway is mostly gravel right now, so shoveling really doesn't help. Needless to say, I make sure I have plenty of snacks, drink, PS3 games, and movies to watch. I'm not going anywhere.

Re: Snow? 2012

I am in Stephens City/Winchester Area. It will not snow here this year. We had everything we were gonna get back in October. It has been staying too warm, last week was in the upper 60's here, and even next week is going to be in the 50's again. There is no chance it snows at those temperatures. The only chance we have now is if it gets cold in February, which is unlikely because i feel like we dont have all these 60 degree days just disappear. We are most likely done. I see a few more weeks of colder weather, and then it's gonna be gone. I mean this is no joke, We have flowers coming up in our yard and 2 mornings ago I saw a groundhog out walking around, so yeah, spring is here pretty soon.

I remember last year having some nice 60 degree days in December, then we got walloped the rest of the winter with cold and snow. Don't underestimate Mother Nature, she can turn flat out bitch at the drop of a hat. :)

It's supposed to be 16* tonight (I'm about 45 minutes south of you). That doesn't sound like Spring to me!

It's early March and there are gnats everywhere. This is going to be a brutal summer for being outside. Need some cold snaps to kill these bastard bugs!

I haven't been sick sick in around 15 years but I do get allergies and colds, and this winter was one of the worst for me. As warm as it was I felt like I was always stuffed up and congested. This spring might be brutal!

It can work both ways. If they are out now and we have a cold snap it will kill them making it a better year for bugs or lack of bugs.

My snowboarding trip just got cancelled for this weekend due to end of season arriving sooner than expected in WV. Damn this unseasonably non-wintery winter. And boo for unrefundable motel deposits that make you pay full price in advance.

I worked for Marriott for ten years in various management roles. If yo dispute that charge with your credit card company I am 99% confident you will get it refunded.

the reason being the hotel has to prove that they held that room for yo uall night and there was no other opportunity for them to rent it. Which is near impossible to prove.

They are called GNS (guarantee no shows) and normally never hold water if disputed.
