Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
Good Read on T.O, shows how these once Multimillionaire Athletes can lose it all so fast.

Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
While Ive read a couple articles including this one yesterday, my question still remains, where did the 80 million dollars go? He has yet to explain it. Im not buying him not living lavishly, I watched his show several times, and he was always spending major money and flaunting. I watched as he bought a pair of earrings or earring for something like 90k at a upscale jewelry store. 4 kids, 4 different women? He gets zero sympathy from me and deserves everything he gets...

Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
Trying to keep TO from blowing all his money would be like trying to turn a whore into a housewife. It aint happening. Couldn't have happened to finer fella.

Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
Interesting side note on Portis there, wonder if he's broke too?
|
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
I never liked T.O. but he gets some sympathy from me here (not on the 4 kids from 4 women thing though). A lot of these guys end up trusting the wrong people with their money and end up getting in bad investments. All the hard work and sacrifice they put in to get to NFL and they end up with nothing.
|
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
Like I said before, couldn't of happened to a better person. Karma is a bitch.

Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
4 kids by 4 different women is just ridiculous. Wear a hat or learn how to pull out!!!
|
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
Ok, but even if someone does give him a one year deal for the vet minimum, that won't last him for the rest of his life. He can't live off of that forever. It's time to get a 9-5 like the rest of us T.O.
|
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
Wow! Just color me shocked! Wow!
|
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
Zero sympathy here.
The guy was a total dick. |
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
Hard to feel bad for someone who had incredible wealth and blew it.
While it may not be easy to manage that kind of wealth on your own... you hire the right people, don't put all your eggs in one basket, and you don't buy ridiculous stuff you don't need!! |

Same story different person this time around. Although you gotta admit his opportunities to get a job will be better because of his past stardom. I'm sure he could try to get into broadcasting if he so chose. |

Just think how cool it will look when Trent Williams is 40, out-of-shape, and broke. He'll still be the dopest kid on the block then. |
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
I don't hate on the chains and bracelets and stuff But DAMN How the hell does Trent wear that???????????
|
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
I feel sorry for him, but at the same time he's to blame for most of his problems, and has never ever had any inkling of accountability for his actions. I feel sorry for him if for no other reason than he was always a big kid that never matured, and maybe he was just too dumb to do so.

It's not unreasonable speculation that he's had sex with more than just the 4 women who has had kids with him. I don't think it's impossible that the a woman can "sabatoge" a condom if they think some profit is involved. If a woman can get essentially a whole year's income just by having a baby with a millionaire, some would at least fathom the temptation. Now of course, I don't really know what went on in each specific case, but I don't think T.O does not know about contraception. |
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
hmmm .. TO broke = LOL for me today .. ex-cowboy ex-eagle current D-Bag .. that's my quarterback still makes me laugh .. what a tool .. thank god he is the only NFL star like this .. oh wait I think Mark Brunell is going to be a pharmacist now .. Isn't it funny how some NFL guys can turn it into a life long run (ex. Marcus Wiley, Teddy Bruschi, Rodney Harrison) just a few that come to mind .. i know they had solid careers and I'm drawing a blank on non-patriots but there a lot of ex-players who turn it into radio/TV deals .. like B-Mitch .. then again I flipped condos at age 26 and blew through 30 grand like a moron so wait maybe I'm an idiot just like TO ... eh boy this post has derailed, hitting erase ---- now

Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
How can they say he didn't spend lavishly if he blew through that much dough? Even with almost 50k a month in child support?
|
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
Being responsible is a bitch ehh....just like real people.
4 kids from different momma's? .....come on man... |

Short answer I'm guess to his kids.... all what 11? JK wasn't it like 5 or 6? But think about it if he goes to each court and they make him pay based off of what he earned each year for each individual child from different women then it could have gotten costly. Then there is whatever he purchased house, car, etc... |
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
Think he's squirmed long enough to take him as a vet min. and he's be a decent team player? or should he still get to taste how the rest of us live because of his selfish years in the NFL.

Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
I'm just wondering but what kinda kid needs $50,000 a month in child support? What is he eating? Gold?
|
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
I totally agree that all that money for a child is rediculous but thats not what it's about. In VA the court system takes both the fathers and mothers income and comes up with a mathmatical figure as to what child support should be based off of each parents income. So $50,000 a month is probably based off his millions each year he earned.
I presume each state is different but this is VA. The courts don't just say ok on average $600 dollars a month should be all that 1 child should receive. It's all based off what both parents make. |
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
Warren Buffett, who is worth an estimated $47 billion, still lives in a modest home in Omaha, Neb., that he purchased for $31,500 more than 50 years ago.
I do not understand why football players who average career is under three years continue to live and spend like they will play forever. Plus many of these athletes do not have another skill that will allow them to earn well after football. With all of the programs in place by the NFL to help and educate NFL rookies, it is in one ear and out the other. hitting the strip joints with their entourage and tapping the a$$ of multiple babies momma's. Cause that is cool? Dumb. He did it to himself because he is arrogant. |

Well that's for 4 kids but still.. most people don't earn 10k a month.. much less spend it on a child... 120k per kid per year.. makes a mockery out of those in need |

Of course he blew most of it away buy buying luxury products AND/OR failed investments. But I was just pointing out that if he were really dumb to not know about contraception, every chick he banged would be with a kid from him, not just these four. |
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
That Rosenhaus is a real scumbag. According to the article many of the bad investments TO made were with financial advisors/investors recommended to him by Rosenhaus. Same thing apparently happened with DeSean Jackson.
At the same time these guys have no brains. How do you blow through that much money? It just amazes me how stupid they are. NBA guys are the worst apparently. I think it was Sports Illustrated that published that study a few years ago that like 60% of retired players are go bankrupt within 5 years of calling it quits. Pathetic. |

Her, last month: "It's ok, I'm on the pill." Her, this month: "I never said I was on the pill!" |
Re: Terrell Owens "I'm in hell" Almost broke after illustrious NFL Career
He is back to playing football, not in the NFL, but in the IFL with the Allen Wranglers in Texas. I think he is making almost a million with them, and supposedly part of his deal has an offer of co-ownership, so he at least has an opportunity to earn a living.
I believe he will be back in the NFL if he plays good down there and can show teams that alot of the hate on him is not justified. I believe TO in some of the things he said in the article. I've said it before and I'll say it now, T.O. has never told a lie. TO's problem is he says things at the wrong time. TO has also been vindicated now for a lot of things that he's said in the past. Some of the things he said about McNabb way back then were said here, and also in Minnesota last year. |

I just don't get this let other people invest you money shit... I only would trust someone who has made more money than me... otherwise it is better to make NOTHING extra.. just keep the money owed to you... not like you HAVE to add to 80m.. |

Highly unlikely. Most psychologists will tell you that the BEST predictor of future behavior is PAST behavior. "Touch this one at your own risk" should be on the label T.O. carries for the rest of his life when it comes to any kind of dealings with an NFL team... |

Not quite. Guys who are wealthier than you could have no clue how to invest because they make all the money through higher wages and have no experience in how to invest. Things like buying the right amount of T-Bills, Treasury Notes, stocks, mutual funds are not well known among most people, even some wealthy folks. The concept of return on investment is not intuitive to everyone. If you want someone else to do in, you need guys who "know the machinations" of the sector they're investing in. In some ways, investing is like building a fantasy football team, except money is being spent instead of draft picks and your return is more money instead of points. I'd trust our fellow Warpather Schneed over some folks wealthier than he is. |

It would be sort of absurd to be making $10 million a year and only paying $500 a month in child support. If nothing else, it provides a reason to be more responsible, although in this case TO certainly didn't get the message. |

It doesn't sound like he lost the bulk of his money spending it, he lost most of it through poor investing. And that's the funny thing; it makes you wonder how much is enough? When you start piling up that kind of money, tens of millions of dollars, why feel the need to invest it? Hell, if you were to simply put 50 million dollars in a savings account with 2% interest, at the end of the year you'd have 51 million dollars! You'd be basically be making a million dollars a year by doing NOTHING with it. |
