No "Wardrobe Malfunction" this year

I feel so much better this year already. Anyone else?

skinsguy 02-07-2005 01:54 AM

Yeah if Paul McCartney's pants fell down I don't think it would have gotten as much publicity as Janet Jackson's "mishap!"

SKINSnCANES 02-07-2005 03:07 AM

i thought the show sucked, very boring and conservative. Not really what I was hoping for. Mabye after last year I was just set up for disappoitment though

Basically. I agree that it was pretty blah, but I mean they werent going to take ANY chances. This year.

EEich 02-07-2005 09:43 AM

I don't know... It sure wasn't an MTV hip hop extravaganza... but who needs that again? Paul McCartney is a class act and I thought he put on a great show.

I did think that Charlie Daniels on the same stage with the Black-Eyed Peas was a little weird during the pre-game though.

Sammy Baugh Fan 02-07-2005 10:39 AM

Charlie was fiddle-syncing!
lol

The show rocked and if I had paid money to sit there in the Super Bowl and got to see a Beatle rock a few good old tunes in a visually cool way I would have been happy and toe tapping.

peace

Oh course a nip slip from Alicia Keys would have been cool too.

lol
Anyone think a sign language tribute to a blind guy was weird?

redrock-skins 02-07-2005 12:02 PM

MTV should revive Beavis and Butthead "Buttbowl" halftime show (you had to flip the channel to watch it). Wonder if anyone will start showing alternative halftime shows on their network again. Paul McCartney is about as exciting as it will get for SB halftime shows over the next few years. I like his music and all, but I was falling asleep and my beer buzz was killed by the start of the 3rd qtr.

TheMalcolmConnection 02-07-2005 02:19 PM

Black Eyed Peas SUCK live... I was appalled.

MTK 02-07-2005 02:22 PM

What did McCartney sing? I missed it, I can't remember the last time I saw a halftime.

SmootSmack 02-07-2005 02:31 PM
What did McCartney sing? I missed it, I can't remember the last time I saw a halftime.
snippets of "Drive My Car" "Get Back" "Live and Let Die" "Hey Jude" and "Baby Got Back"....yeah the last one shocked me too. lol

BDBohnzie 02-07-2005 03:27 PM

yeah, we kept trying to convince my buddy to order the girls gone wild halftime show, but he wouldn't budge...so i half paid attention to sir paul. it was ok...if you are into 60 year old rockers...

Daseal 02-07-2005 03:30 PM

It was horrible. The wardrobe malfunction was blown out of proportion, 90% of America wouldn't have known about it if they didnt make such a big deal of a far, far away shot of a tit (of which you couldn't even see.)

The half time show sucked, will smith sucked, the whole production sucked. So it was just like the norm for the super bowl.

EEich 02-07-2005 03:41 PM
What did McCartney sing? I missed it, I can't remember the last time I saw a halftime.
The best part about McCartney was that he actually sang... no lip-sync.

SmootSmack 02-07-2005 03:53 PM
The best part about McCartney was that he actually sang... no lip-sync.
You sure about that? It seemed like he did lip-sync. And some articles I've read said he did

Not that it's a bid deal. We know he sang the songs at one point, and in such a big venue and event like that, with a limited amount of time, it's not uncommon to lip-sync

SkinsRock 02-07-2005 04:18 PM

U2 refused to lip-synch a couple years back, and in my opinion, that was the best SB halftime show in years, if not ever.
Yeah, many of them just record it ahead of time to avoid any sound issues, since they have a very short window to get everything set-up and all, so it is a real live performance, not just "lip-synching to the record". But I believe that if your gonna play live, play live!

sportscurmudgeon 02-07-2005 05:19 PM

For all of those who thought the show sucked, maybe next year they can have Ashley Simpson, Roseanne Barr and Yoko Ono there as a trio doing a medly of songs from the 70s, 80s 90s and 00s as a tribute to the 4 decades of "Super Bowldom".

That wouldn't suck - - much

jbcjr14 02-07-2005 05:52 PM

I thought it was pretty good show, it was something every age could relate to. While I like the risque, it wasn't bad for a laid back show and the presentation was pretty cool.

EEich 02-07-2005 07:32 PM

I know for a fact that it wasn't a lip-sync.

Daseal 02-07-2005 07:54 PM

How so, EEich - are you Paul McCartney? They will never put a super bowl show on that isn't some pop bullshit. The beetles were decent once they started doing hardcore drugs and stopped with that "I want to hold your hand" bullshit that they started of with. They made the transition from Backstreet Boys to Hendrix!

I've NEVER seen a halftime show that was worth watching. At least with music, etc. They try to incorporate too many genres, and get the most generic stars. Give me the bud bowl!

EEich 02-07-2005 08:50 PM

I do work at ESPN. I know people who know people.
It was also mentioned this morning on Good Morning America.

You can't please all the people all the time.

It's pretty clear to me that, other than agreeing that we love the Skins, there will never be unanimity of opinion when it comes to entertainment or politics on this site.

skinsfanthru&thru 02-08-2005 12:42 AM

I semi understand what all the fuss was about last year but the halftime show was just dull and this coming from a beatles fan. Sure during halftime pretty much anyone I know is getting some more "refreshments" or releaving themselves and the only thing they focus on tv wise during the halftime is the commercials, but it's got to have some life to it. Cuz I mean nothing screams football like a 60+ year old british rock star. There has to be a middle ground found between hip-hop and rap with girls wearing tube tops and butt floss, which seems to be the main thing I've heard people complain about from recent sporting show events, and guys who were made famous 40 years ago. When and what that middle ground will be, I don't have the foggiest idea, just as long as it isn't just country music every single time.

itvnetop 02-08-2005 01:07 AM

how about paul mccartney singing alongside bikini-clad hotties on motorcycles? now that's a middle ground!

skinsfanthru&thru 02-08-2005 01:17 AM
how about paul mccartney singing alongside bikini-clad hotties on motorcycles? now that's a middle ground!
that could work cuz then I could just mute it but still have something worth keeping my attention on the screen. :biggthump

Hip-Hop meets 60s British Rock? Sounds like a call for Danger Mouse

Daseal 02-08-2005 08:29 AM

Grey Album is awesome, Smootsmack. Jay-Z was all about it, too bad the Beetles are cocks and sued the guy.

monk81 02-08-2005 10:51 PM

At least the auidence got to participate......And I couldn't hear people boo ala Ashlee Simpson........

BTW did people think the commercials were a tad boring this year? Just because they wanted them clean doesn't mean they have to be boring. Look at some of the ESPN promos they are hilarious without being risque, yet they are still funny.......

MTK 02-08-2005 11:33 PM

The commercials were definitely on the ho-hum side. After last year nobody wants to F with those commie bastards the FCC.

SmootSmack 02-09-2005 01:47 AM

They can't be serious
