Best news since they traded for Griffin. Really happy about this. Great job BA and MS. |

hopefully he signed better than eddie royal |
Re: hightower re-signs
That's a good look right there.
|
Re: hightower re-signs
I just hope he stays healthy. With TH, we have a very solid RB group, which is good to have with a rookie QB.
|
Re: hightower re-signs
Tim Hightower deserved a new contract. He's definitely a welcome addition to Helu and Royster.

Re: hightower re-signs
..........big!
|
Re: hightower re-signs
Nice to see TH back in the B & G !
|
Re: hightower re-signs
We got a nice stable of RBs if Hightower comes back healthy.
RB is gonna be a tight competition in training camp/preseason. |
We should be in the top 10 in rushing this season
|
Re: hightower re-signs
Good

I agree. Deserve is a strong word given that he only had a few great preseason performances and a couple of reg season games. Regardless, I am thrilled he reupped with us and hope he is the starter. Should be a solid year. |
Re: hightower re-signs
He probably waited to resign until after he saw what the throwbacks looked like...
|
Re: hightower re-signs
Would they keep 4 RB's? Who will be the odd man out? Coming from major injury I would say TH, but you never know. Should be interesting if Morris has a solid camp and exhibition season.

Nice. LOL. |
Timayyy!

Re: hightower re-signs
helu should still be the starter

Timayy Jimayy...Timayy!! Without contract details the signing itself doesn't mean much. Does anybody know about Hightower's knee/health status? |
Didnt they change the IR rules to let a player come back after 9 weeks. That might be the way to go of I remember the details correctly.
|
Re: hightower re-signs
just like when sammy baugh and don hutson played
|
Re: hightower re-signs
helu should still be the starter
We know how much Mike Shanahan loves to give his players competition. Yes, Helu should begin training camp//preseason atop the depth chart because he was the starter for the remainder of the season after Hightower got injured. But expect Royster to be in the mix too. Between Helu, Royster and Hightower, the most impressive during preseason should be the starter come opening day. |
Re: hightower re-signs
TH resigned for just 1 year. Which can be either a wait and see approach or he fills a need this year and replace him next year. TH will have to be healthy/ productive to be back again but well see. I'm excited to have that Portis blocking style protecting RG.
Except for returning players injured and how the safety situations work out, there is great belief in this team. Real optimism and excitement for the season is finally able. |
Re: hightower re-signs
I like the fact that Tim re-signed with the 'skins, although I don't think he'll necessarily be the starter. Both Helu and Royster had some monster games last year, I think both of them could be the one and two punch.

Quite a stable of RB's. Considering they all make it between the 53 and the PS, someone will definitely be up and down from week to week |
Re: hightower re-signs
Glad we resigned him; but the jury's still out on TH. He had a great preseason, is great in pass pro, but was pedestrian running the football last season. Hightower runs hard, but alot of his runs were 2-3 yds, and he didn't consistently see/find the cutback lane; (though before he got injured at Carolina he was having a decent game). From what I've read, his knee is fully healed, and should be ready to go for traning camp.

Good to see him back but I agree, he wasn't anything special running the ball last year. I think he's back more for his pass pro more than anything. |
Re: hightower re-signs
i think this better news for hightower then the redskins.
|
Re: hightower re-signs
Hightower is a good resigning and think he slides into the 3rd down back role. His pass protection skills and ability to catch the ball outta the back field are a great. Im worried bout the knee and dont see a heavy workload for him because of it. HTTR

Re: hightower re-signs
Remember before his knee injury he had a bad shoulder. If healthy, he's solid
|
Re: hightower re-signs
A buddy just came up and said "hey heard you all resigned Hightower." (he's an Eagles fan). I said I didn't know, but pointed out that when he was healthy he played well all the way up until he got hurt. I then said "hey, resign him to a decent low contract... no harm no foul if he gets hurt we didn't lose anything and if he doesn't pan out or look good by preseasons end we can cut him." To which my friend said he was signed for $18 mill. If true....all I can say is he better stay healthy for the majority of his time he's signed for or there better be an injury clause in there somewhere.
|
Re: hightower re-signs
He signed a 1 year deal
|
Re: hightower re-signs
Finally! I could see him going back to his role with the Cardinals: 3rd down pass-blocking back and goalline TD vulture, a role he excelled at.
With Fletcher and now Hightower on the books, I'm happy. We also have a QB and WRs, and I'm not sad about losing Atogwe, Landry or McIntosh. The safeties can't stay on the field and Rocky was just a talented disappointment. Keenan Robinson will be an upgrade. Our secondary could still use another piece or two but I feel our offseason is pretty much complete now. |

Yeah, Im a big Hightower supporter and having watched him play at Richmond the guy does alot of things well. But with bad shoulder, knee, etc makes me think he is not a heavy workload guy...I cant see him getting 20+ touches a game and remaining healthy. The thing about Hightower I really like the best is his attitude and effort. This dude gives 110% every second of every play on the field. He approaches the game right too, every interview Ive seen or read, when faced with a "negative" question or a question about a problem with Skins offense, dude is always positive in his response and always supports the coaching staff. |

And now for the rest of the story. Hightower actually went to High School with Stephen Burbank, and protected him from the HS bullies. So when Hightower said he couldn't get signed anywhere, Burbank ruled on the Salary Cap issues, giving the Skins back their 18Million, but with the proviso that Hightower had to be signed for that amount. Goodell and Mara both accepted this saying that the Skins gained no excessive competitive advantage by having Hightower on the roster this year. |
Re: hightower re-signs
Hopefully he comes back at 100% from that torn ACL.

Re: hightower re-signs
o HT (if returns to 100%) good all around back (enters camp as the best pass protector), good speed, relatively fluid runner, reads the running lanes well and will make the right choice but imo cannot take a consistent pounding (I don't think any of our backs are built like that) has the mentality but doesn't have the same power to run through contact like Helu
o My favorite of the trio is Helu because of decisiveness, home run speed and his surprising ability to run through contact and break some tackles o I think Royster is the more fluid runner then Helu (imo moves aren't as quick and tend to be somewhat herky-jerky but effective none the less) and has the best ability small area elusiveness however I think Royster lacks true home run speed and isn't as tough as runner The way I see it we have 3 RBs capable of rushing for 100 yards given the carries kinda like having RB 1a, 1b, 1c (Didn't want to start another thread just discussing the RBs? or should I?) Its gonna be great competition in training camp and through out the season from game to game I'm sure they'll go with the 'hothand' whichever RB gets in the groove and reads the running lane the best is gonna get the most carries |
Re: hightower re-signs
olandis gary, mike anderson, and clinton portis
|
Re: hightower re-signs
Good news. We have not so quietly had a good offseason of aquisitions. Could still see a piece or two here or there but I think for the most part and given the salary cap penalty we did well enough. I like this team.
