Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
I could go on and on with combos, I'll just limit them to the most obvious. Feel free to chime in with your own.
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
Derrick Mason and Mike Williams.
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
so McCants is definitely out?

Nobody is out, my best guess is Jacobs is the favorite to move up to a starting spot, but of course who really knows at this point? |
Derrick Mason and Mike Williams.
I could live with that |
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
i chose other. i think it will be a FA, Someone like mason or porter, and our 1st round WR. TJ will be #3 at least tho, and im not ruling him out as the starter. ive been lobbying for him to get more pt, but we need to get a FA and draft someone i think
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
whats makes everyone think jacobs will be in the staring lineup, I think an impact free agent and Mike Willams as the first and second recievers with Jacobs as the 3rd.
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
If we have the WR's we have now I would like to see us start Jacobs and McCants. If we get a free agent I hope it is either Porter or Mason and then in the draft take Williams and if he is gone Williamson maybe even trading down a few spots to get him. If I could make the choices it would be
Porter Williams/Williamson Thrash McCants Jacobs I still don;t have faith in Jacobs and I think if we drafted Williamson he could be our speed guy and we wouldn't have to worry about Jacobs much |
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
the free agent for me would be plaxico, with two 6'4 recievers on each side that would prove to cause many match up problems
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
i voted "other" , simply because i'm not sold on jacobs just yet.
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
I'd like a Mason/Jacobs pairing or Mason/Jacobs/Williams trio but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say with this happening we keep Gardner, sign Mason, and draft Williamson. but this was definitely not a scenario I was even close to thinking about this time yesterday.
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
I'm thinking a more realistic combination will be Jacobs, Williams, and Thrash.
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
Apparently Koren Robinson may be a cap casualty out of Seattle. I can't decide whether I think he would be worth going after. He's young and seems to have a whole bunch of potential, but his flaws-namely dropping passes-are way too similar to Gardner's
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
Koren Robinson could be an amazing receiver in this league - but he makes Gardner look like Jerry Rice when it comes to drops.
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
I'm hoping that it will be Andre Davis and Mike Williams, I'm not completely sold on Jacobs yet, but I think he will be very solid
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
coles and mccants!!:party-smi
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
Antonio Brown and Nathan Black!
better yet, bring back Derrius |

I was thinking the same thing....Stop reading my mind man. |
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
Coles, Williams, Jacobs...that would be awesome...now if only we can get Coles to stay...and Williams to fall...and Jacobs to play well...
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
I put Jacobs and Williamson. For some reason I think that Troy kid will be blazing fast and give us a deep threat, and Jacobs is kinda like coles in a way. I think then we have Thrash and mccants for over the middle guys and still have the other other stretch the field.
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
I'm suprised you didn't vote for Roscoe Parrish and Jacobs ;)
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
lol. good call, We trade gardner for a second, get parrish in the second and trade our first round pick and coles to the texans for andre johnson and their first round pick. They move up in the first round, and we use their pick to draft antrel rolle.
And then we need to have bigger avatars becuase thats a lot of canes to try and fit, lol |

Actually it look's like he's in. |

You got that right! :laughing2 |

That was my vote as well SC, I do think we will target another WR in the draft as well, we will find 2 reciever's in this upcoming draft, I believe Williamson, and who know's? |
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
I think that we will develop a group of receivers and that there won't be the clear 1-2 designation necessarily. Having said that, Taylor Jacobs is one, yes. I like drafting Troy Williamson, but I don't think he is likely to start on day one. I think that we will sign a free agent who will be the other starter.
Perhaps it will be Derrick Mason, if he doesn't demand a bank breaking contract, or Andre Davis, if we can bring him aboard. |

How do you figure? I think DCopper had a good point in another thread that the Redskins have known for a while about Coles' desire to leave and they planned on letting McCants go anyway. He's not a receiver technically but I'd put Cooley up there |
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
Gibbs always mentions Jacobs and Thrash when he talks about the WRs and the omission of McCants is always telling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's still outta here regardless of the developments the last few days.
The WR corps are in for a bigger overhaul than we initially thought! |
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
As stated by other's if we draft 1 or 2 reciever's they won't be ready on opening day McCant's may be in the dog house, but he is experienced and is a favorite target of Ramsey's, if Coles and Gardner are gone I would be surprised if McCant's followed them out the door, neither Coles or Gardner played special's so that won't hurt McCant's in fact if player's come back from those possible trades who can play special's that just may help McCant's, I don't feel Gibb's is givin up on McCant's to the point he would refuse to use him McCant's isn't a bad guy and he is a supporter of Gibb's from day one, only the future will tell.

Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
I voted Jacobs & Williams out of what's listed, but I would be very happy with Derick Mason & Williams assuming Mason's salary demands are not rediculous. I think it would be very risky to depend on Jacobs as anything more than a #3 this year. He has barely played in his 2 years as it is, so i don't see how you can just throw him in as the #2.
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
I think it's time to toss Jacobs into the lake and give him a year or two to see if he sinks or swims!
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
I would like McCants to stay, but it certainly looks form the outside that he has burned his bridges here. There has to be more to this story than the company line that he doesn't play special teams. They must have known he was not great at special teams when they signed him. Something must have happened inbetween the point that he resigned in Washington and opening day.
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
Jacobs will be a starter come opening day, bank on it.
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
That makes me nervous. If he is hopefully it's because he earned in T-camp and not becasue we had no other choice.
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
I'm not sold on Jacobs at 1 or 2. Hopefully, he proves me wrong. :oink:
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
We will still have coles, we will only get rid of him if something works out for us too. I don't think that both the skins and coles will get good deals so we won't do it. I also think that we will explore the free agency then if we don't get anyone we can get williams in the draft....hopefully. I still think mcants is better than jacobs!
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
i think coles will still be with us and be BIG #80, i don't see anything that will work for both the skins and Coles. Wait.. will coles be #87 if Gardner leaves b/c he was 87 with the jets, but i think crebet is 80 on the jets was he there before coles that guy is old ? if anyone know the answer please post somin
Copy paste from "latest on coles" |
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
chrebet was with the jets long before coles
|
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
mccants wasnt playing because #3 and 4 played st last year and he didnt... he might be out because he's paid well above what an inactive player should be making...
if coles leaves, he'll probably stay barring a trade or a poor preseason/the emergence of FA/drafted players... porter is definately out now, and i'm not sure we have enough money to sign a FA and a #9 pick at WR while trying to resign players and get a DE and hopefully a C... (plax and MM are already too expensive, sso its basically mason or bust on FAs right now) |
Re: Skins Top 2 WR's in 2005?
moss? wow, is it possible for the jets to take that 5 mil that everyone is talking about we still would pay 4 mil but we got some 3 mil invested so the cap pent would be like 1.8 million or something. but otherwise 9 million is a crap load of money
