Skins/Bills postgame
How about that RG3 guy? I think he might be pretty good. ;)

Re: Skins/Bills postgame
The only negative for the Redskins after Griffin's strong debut: Trent Williams, Washington's best offensive lineman, went up the tunnel at halftime limping, seeming to favor his left leg. The team made no announcement about his status during the game, and he was on the sidelines for the second half. If he's hurt and misses time, it'll be a huge blow to the Redskins' effort to keep Griffin clean against opposing rushes.

Re: Skins/Bills postgame
how many long time redskins fans held their breath whne Garcon did that flip thing at the end of his TD run. I was almost positive he was going to break his back, knowing our luck!

Re: Skins/Bills postgame
Adam Gettis looked out of step almost like he had no clue each play who/how to block. The run game Failed.
Defense however, made me pleased with the quality of depth. |
Re: Skins/Bills postgame
Before we put RG3 in the HOF let's remember it's PRE SEASON. John Beck looked good in pre season. He had one nice drive, snapped off a few nice throws which was very nice. He looked like he belonged out there. Good to see Hank out there too. Garcon had a great night. The first team o-line was pushed around on run plays. Banks can't play wr in this league. Simply not big or physical enough.
Really liked this dude Chris Baker. He was un blockable. Richard Crawford...I think he's earning a spot on this team. Had some nice punt returns and made some nice plays on d....as did Josh Wilson. |
Re: Skins/Bills postgame
You know I think RG3 might be a sleeper candidate for preseason hero, he's a guy who has done well in limited opportunities.

Re: Skins/Bills postgame
Polumbus played better than I expected. The Oline did get pushed around at first but they started to open some holes for royster on the touchdown drive. I was surprised I didn't hear anyone talk about Jarvis Jenkins during the game.

Re: Skins/Bills postgame
Well, as we say every pre-season, it only matters what you're doing with 1sts on 1sts, and that part of the game went pretty damn well. Really found it hard to bitch about anything with RG3's performance.
I will say that I'm a much bigger fan of Helu at this point than Royster. Royster must be much better in protection because Helu has a clear advantage when it comes to burst and elusiveness. And how about Garcon looking like a true #1 wr? On the Redskins? holy shit... |

Re: Skins/Bills postgame
Griffin looked solid. Not sure he should have said "practice is harder than the games" That's borderline bulletin board material for opposing defenses. I like the confidence but slow your roll a bit
Definitely didn't like the Garcon flip. No need for that right now When we drafted him, I thought Crawford would be one of those "damn, he sure is trying his best but he just can't keep up physically" kind of players. Seems I've been wrong. Though it does seem to characterize Brandon Banks somewhat I think the weak link on the line yesterday was actually the guy with the most experience. He's valuable as a reserve, but I'm not sure the team fully benefits from having Will Montgomery starting right now Kirk was average. Work in progress for sure I had the chance to talk with Chris Baker a couple of times last year. You could tell he was pretty passionate about putting in the work and he wasn't going to give up on being an NFL player. So good for him that he's doing so well. |

RG3 looked like a starter against a good Bills D. Yes it is preseason, but so far things are looking good. I am sure he will hit many bumps on the road, but I'd rather see this than having him out there looking lost and playing terribly. |
Re: Skins/Bills postgame
It's only preseason and starters did not finish the first quarter.
Nonetheless I was pleased with our defense. I thought that this year would involve a series of track meets where the offense would be under pressure to make up for points given up by the secondary. That obviously proved not to be the case. |
Re: Skins/Bills postgame
Evan Royster - Thought he looked slow. May be a function of the fact that (1) he did not see some holes; and (2) there were very few holes. In any event, poor showing.
|
Re: Skins/Bills postgame
I was pleased with how RGIII played, but I was mostly interested in how Cousins was going to play to be honest with you. I have concerns about our depth at a few positions on the team. I think KC's teammates let him down a bit with the dropped passes, but KC needs to work on his timing a bit.
Also, wtf was it with all those passes going to Brandon Banks? All for naught too. |

I'd like to see Helu running with the first team. Yeah Royster didn't look all that great and for some reason we kept running to the right....I guess to test that right side of the line. |

I didn't discount what he did. I think he did a nice job out there. I just said "let's not put him in the HOF after one pre season game".... where he threw it 6 times. No double standard at all. |

Agreed. He looked like he belonged out there and I said that. As for Cousins? He was up and down. |

Cousins needs a lot of development, but I thought he looked okay for a rookie out there. |

Re: Skins/Bills postgame
Cousins is a work in progress, as to be expected from a 4th rounder. But I think he's a keeper. I'm so psyched that we appear to have our QB situation nailed down for a long time to come.

Re: Skins/Bills postgame
Players who stood out:
1.RG3 2.Garcon 3.Crawford 4.Wilson 5.Rak and Kerrigan off the edge rush 6.1st team Oline in pass protection 7.Baker Honorable mention: 1. 1st team secondary played well against a no huddle, hurry up, which threw 14 times against them. I thought the results were pretty decent. 2. McRib looked good. 3. Josh Morgan caught some tough throws Stuff I didnt like: 1. BB playing receiver 2. Rex 3. C Griff 4. Eric Cook 5. Terrance Austin is garbage 6. Niles I thought was disappointing What I like to see more of in the preseason: 1. Briscoe at WR 2. Alderidge returning kicks 3. Cooley at TE 4. Barnes playing at CB 5. Where was Jarvis Jenkins? |

I wasn't very impressed with any of our running backs. Morris was the only one that shined through, and he was going up against third and forth string guys. |
Re: Skins/Bills postgame
I'm pretty happy with Mr. Fancy Socks, the future looks bright.
I agree the Garcon flip was stupid. The defense looks pretty good. I wish our kickers could have had some field goal oppurtunitys to hash out that position. Why didnt Helu start? |

Re: Skins/Bills postgame
Just heard on ESPN 980 that Chris Russell is reporting/speculating (sometimes it is difficult to tell) that, as it stands now, Cooley will likely be released but then re-signed for less money because he doesn't want to play anywhere else. FWIW.

Maybe the bottom line is that, as the quality of your skill position players goes up, the burden shouldered by your offensive line goes down. We've upgraded our skill position players. By how much, we shall see, but they are definitely upgrades. So while we don't have a group of superstars out there on the OL, they may not necessarily need to be. More respect from defenses = fewer blitzes. |

He seems to have bulked up a bit. For a second during his TD run, I thought he was one of our RBs. |
Re: Skins/Bills postgame
Garcon is a stud.He will open thing up like no one has for years. Please stop the end zone flips.

Well that's interesting. Some of you may recall that I told you last week, thanks to a last minute stay of execution, Cooley was going to be given until the first preseason game and then likely released. This, though, is the first I'm hearing of him being re-signed for less money |
Re: Skins/Bills postgame
Griffin to Garcon is something we're going to hear a lot of this year. It's looking pretty obvious from camp and from last night that they are going to feature him, a lot.

Banks got a lot of targets because it's preseason and they're trying to determine his worth, if any, to the team. Expect Robinson and/or Austin to get the same next week
