Good question. Damn why don't they just have tryouts in Fedex for ex linemen that are fans. Merriman might at least be good for depth, if not help out Fletch in the center with Orakpo and Kerrigan doing the damage on the outside.

In all seriousness, barring a few terrible injuries I think we're pretty set at LB. The only players IMO we even need to consider are decent jettisoned OL and DB's.

I get the feeling Merriman's going want to start and I'd rather have Riley starting honestly. And doesn't Merriman have a bum knee and Achilles? Remember what happened to the last dude with a bum Achilles?

He wouldn't hurt just to have depth, but you are right. I would much rather have another starting cailber CB than anything. I think the O line will be fine, as we always have been plagued with a banged up line since the Turner days.

This dude hasn't deserved his own thread since 4 years ago. I take it OP didn't see him in the pre-season game against the Skins. He sucked. Even against our 2nd string squad he couldn't do anything. Tells you a lot when he's cut and can't even beat out the backups at Buffalo.

Merriman's a great story and he's a true rags to riches. He's local too. Sucks that his body has let him down. Not sure where he would fit in here but I hope he catches on with someone.

It's not worth anything but I remember when he had real life beef with WWE Wrestler CM Punk, and attacked punk on his twitter.

Apparantly the players were at the same hotel with the WWE wrestlers who were also staying there. Merriman was apparantly drunk and trying to get with some of the WWE Diva's (women wrestlers), who rebuffed him harshley. Merriman followed one of them belligerently over to the pool area, at which point Punk had seen enough and confronted him. Nothing happened there but later Merriman attacked Punk on his twitter.

Lucky for Merriman, CM Punk (real name Phillip Brooks) is a former kick boxer who is well trained in Mui Thai and probably would have kicked Merriman's head off his shoulders on one of his bad days.

Now on a serious note, how about veteran minimum for Shawn Merriman? :)

I'd rather have Marcus White than Merriman. He's been finished for years.

If Vinny were here, we'd sign him. We're past that mentality of signing of every big name after they're no longer useful. With Allen and Shanahan, we're developing our own young players and the team is better for it, now and in the long run.

We still talking about this bum? He couldn't even generate any pressure against our 2nd/3rd stringers. Nothing to see here folks, time to move on. His 15 minutes has came and gone.
