Another D.Hall Thread.
Sorry, I don't usually start frivolous threads but I had to get this off my chest. Pro Football Focus rated D.Hall 184 out of 199 cornerbacks that saw regular action last year. Get this Kevin Barnes was ranked 187.
I might be drinking the Kool Aid, but I'd still rank Hall as a top 15-17 corner in this league. He's had his ups and downs, yes, but beyond the regular All Pro corners, I'm not convinced that DeAngelo Hall isn't a top 15 corner in this league. Who here disagrees with that and why? |
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
Oh..I know this an annual argument around here, so why not have it again this year.
|
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
Unless you're telling me he is cut in favor of a better starting CB, I'm not interested lol
|
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
Blame Danny Boy and Vinny, they gave D Hall the money which should have been Carlos's extention. So we are stuck with him while Carlos is making pro bowls, playing on the premier NFL defense. oh well

Wow. This really needed its own thread?

Hindsight is always 20/20. I don't recall anyone calling to extend Carlos everyone just complained about his drops his overall play not just his drops improved last year in SanFran. Dhall is far from great but he is a starter for us we have no better options out there for us right now, this will be addressed next year |

I would've extended him for a couple years at decent money but not big money like he wanted. If he had gone to the doctor while he played here and gotten his vision problem fixed as well as his catching problem fixed I would've given him a big money deal after that. That was his only problem. As soon as he left here he decided to get his vision checked out and (shock of all shockers) the a-hole needed contacts. Boom! catching problem fixed. Either way he's in his early 30's now so even if we had given him a big money deal I wouldn't have made it like 7 years or anything. |
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
Hall's reward/risk ratio per game is only positive if he creates at least one turnover IMO.
|
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
Top 15? Damn that kool aid must be sweet.
If PFF has him 184, I tend to believe it. Is there a link to the entire list, I'd like to check it out. |

Haha..@Matty.

Right on brother. It's ok, at least DHall can catch right? :party-smi |
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
D. Hall's non-tackling is contagious. Did you guys see Crawford missing those tackles last game? LOL.

Well Crawford was playing with the flu I believe (which could have been code for "massive hangover") |

Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
Look I bash Dhall all the time, but having said that, he's still a starting caliber corner in this league. So he's top 32, but not top 15 nor 184. Although that Jake Delhomme run and Gronkowski sideline stare were 184 worthy.
|
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
Don't see Hall as one of the worst, but certainly not Top 15-17. He's #2 CB caliber IMO. Gives up way too much cushion (off-man) and can't recover the way he could a few years ago, also not physical enough to press, questionable tackling, questionable instincts. Without the top-end speed he had when he first came in....he's not the same guy.
|
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
Hall is terrible. He's just been terrible for awhile and we forget what decent is like. He compensates a little for his general terribleness by gambling and making an occasional big play but overall he just isn't very good. He simply cannot cover consistently.

Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
So basically I'm drinking the Kool Aid. Got it:)

Hungover for biggest job interview of his life? |

Next time I call in sick to work I'm going to use "flu-like symptoms".

The flu will definitely be making the rounds tomorrow for a lot of folks lol In fact I'm feeling a little sick to my stomach already |

I was only joking. I believe he was legitimately sick. But many players in the past-Cooley, Haynesworth, Gardner, Arrington-to name a few-were out with "flu like symptoms" that I know for a fact were hangovers. It's a common euphemism around the league |

I'm a Hall hatter.

Also glad to know Crawford was feeling cruddy last game because he didn't look as sharp as the previous two games. Really like him so far. |

 I've been over this numerous times about D. Hall and probably was D. Hall hatting before it was a hipster thing to do. He's consistently been rated one of the worst CBs in the NFL (even in Atlanta) and nothing has really changed. He's a gambler by nature and isn't somebody you can rely on. I've gone as far as broke down films and the TDs he's allowed so I'll refrain for now. :bdh: |

I was starting to get concerned, I think a guy like Crawford trying to make the team wouldn't pull something as stupid as going drinking the night before a game. Obviously it's different if it's an established player but Crawford is far from it. Good to know he was actually sick. |

Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
I'm on the DHALL bus always have been since the Va Tech days. Call me a homer but I love DHALL. He brings swagger to the team. The FIRST game he played was against Dallas and he made plays including a INT when were a team that couldn't grab a pick to save their lives. CB is one of the toughest positions to stay in the publics favor but that rating is total bs. Seriously he's a top 15 CB, I bet if you polled NFL players he would be vastly different on that scale. Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
DHall aint top 15, 32, or top 64. Maybe 87th or 121st. Didn't like him at Tek, but I don't like vajanyatek anyway. More of an Old Dominion & Florida Gator fan.

Sigh. You obviously weren't around when I posted just that. And my repeated critiques of Hall. This case has nothing to do with hindsight. Hall, when on the skins, has always been the inferior of the two. |

Swag is great if you can back it up. If you get burnt like toast you just look stupid. |
Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
I have to restrain myself on this thread, I think most of you know how I feel about this clown. If he could only cover, tackle which he can't (he thinks he's Deion in his mind)and keep his mouth shut.

Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
I've been saying since DeAngelo Hall became a Redskin that he plays well against 2nd and 3rd rated wide receivers but struggles in coverage against the NFL's elite wideouts. Until this day he hasn't proven me wrong.

Re: Another D.Hall Thread.
But guys! He WAS MVP of the Pro Bowl though!
