I see Philip Thomas didnt make the Eagles, maybe he is someone we have on our radar if he clears waivers?

Some players who were released that I like for our PS:

1. Tank Carder - Could be ILB for us. Released by Buffalo.
2. Danny Coale - Future Slot Receiver. Foot injury hampered him with Cowboys.
3. Brandon Washington - Good athlete at OG/OT. Released by Eagles.

I like those guys too. I would probably add

4. Marvin McNutt - Big tall WR who trasitioned from QB. Cut by Eagles
5. Terrance Gannaway - Powerful RB who knows RG3 really well. Cut by Jets

Basically reiterating what Smoot said, that Butler is the 53 man, and slaton confirmed that he's been released, which means, Aldrick, or Banks could be cut.

I'm shocked that Marcus White did not make our roster. I thought he flash enough talent that he would stick. I hope he gets resigned to our practice squad. I do however like our LB corp which has a blend of youth and vet leadership.

The Redskins were said to be in trade talks for Slaton on a deal that would have sent Anthony Armstrong to the Dolphins Friday, but it never happened. When are we going to get the full list? Last night on the news they said as early as noon today (Sun).

Slaton didn't have to clear waivers, so that's inaccurate. As soon as he was cut he became a free agent. Possible that the Skins are waiting until after week one so that his contract isn't guaranteed. They've been interested in Slaton for a while, so I seriously doubt they suddenly lost interest overnight. I think they're just trying to be smart about it. That said though, their interest was largely due to not expecting Helu to be ready. If he is, then that could impact their decision.

Someone, I think ESPN980, reported that the Redskins tried to add Texans G Shelley Smith but he was claimed by the Rams and I know they tried to add Texans C Cody Wallace but the Bucs claimed him

I remember him a few years ago, when they said he'd be a perfect find for the ZBS. Oh well. DeAngelo Peterson on the other hand was a great pickup for the PS.

So, is there an 8 man practice squad yet? I've seen some names but doesn't seem like we agreed with all 8 yet.

Actually it has no real bearing on that. If they are considering bringing Cooley back after the first week as some have speculated, they would do so by carrying 4 TE's or cutting Paul or Paulson. None of them are eligible for the PS. Having a promising guy on the PS is good insurance, but it impacts the Cooley situation (if there is such a thing) very little.

Forget the fact that Cooley may very well latch on with another team at that time, so not making the insurance move would be silly.

Daryl Gamble was a name in college I had interest in us drafting a few years ago, we'll see what happens with him.
