I'LL wait to see it somewhere else lol, pray Rak is n\done i shall til then |
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
Everyone has injuries. Next man up. Rob Jackson has been here for several years. Now is the time for him to show his worth. Chris Wilson has also been here and worked his way back after a year off. I expect both of them to play well. Jenkins and Baker need to also do something. Jenkins is a high draft pick and he needs to show why we drafted him.
|
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
This a major setback for our defense. With Bradford's 3 step drops and quick throws yesterday they picked our defense apart, and we weren't getting any pressure on them after Carriker and Rak left. Jarvis Jenkins and Chris Baker should help with the loss of Carriker, but I don't know if we can trust Chris Wilson to put the kind of pressure on opposing offenses that Rak got. Haslett is really going to need to adjust his schemes to compensate for the loss of these two.

Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
Honestly IMO WILSON>Jackson
|
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
This is really, really terrible. I pray Haslett can adjust for this
|
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
ugh, losing Rak is gonna hurt.

Coach Shanahan said that the two will compete for playing time during his interview a few minutes ago. |

Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
I think both Jackson and wilson are good. Jarvis Jenkins make it happen!!!!
|
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
I'm trying to find a way to spin this news as a positive somehow but I've got nothing.
|
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
it's unfortunate but it's not like either of them were game-changers. orakpo is not demarcus ware, jenkins has the tools to account for carriker's absence.
we're not doomed, it's an opportunity for a antonio pierce or ryan clark to emerge |
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
Time to step up, Worthington maybe on roster?
|
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
^agreed.

Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
I heard on the radio that Carriker was done for the season but Orakpo was out this week.

that is incorrect. multiple sources (including Mike Shanahan) reporting Orakpo out for the season. |

He's pretty damn good, PFF has him 14th or 15th in the entire NFL. It's not just sacks, but total pressures. Still they gotta make them compete, best man up. |
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
Let's see who steps up. I would say those were areas we seemed to have good depth but our schedule just gets harder and harder.

Problem is Carter isn't a 3-4 LB, been down that road already with him. |

agree. I want to see what this Jarvis Jenkins kid brings to the lineup and I personally think Jackson/Wilson will probably rotate. |
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
Also Carter is coming off the knee injury last season. Rak is a big loss. Poop.
|
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
Injuries happen in the NFL. It's unfortunate that Orakpo is done for the season. We all hope that he can come back next season at full strength. Rob Jackson has played in Orakpo's place before and stepped up admirably. Carriker is done too which gives Jarvis Jenkins the opportunity to start. Hopefully, the Redskins defense won't miss a beat with these two stepping in.
|
Are our players made of glass? This sucks.
|
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
as i mentioned in a previous thread, RAK is starting to look like just another guy thats got talent but cant stay healthy. SUCKS
now we'll see if Kerrigan can become a pro bowl type guy for sure |
Game over. End of playoff hopes.
|
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
So...where do we look to fill the two open roster spots? Actually, I think there should be three spots open i.e. Banks has no place on an NFL roster.
Given Garcon's lagging injury and questionable recovery, Morgan not cutting it as a starter, and Robinson struggling to catch the long ball, I would definitely bring in a WR at this point. Plaxico would immediately be our best endzone target. On defense, really nobody can replace Rak, but we probably need to bolster the roster with depth...? |
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
ugh, losing Rak is gonna hurt.
I honestly dont think the drop off between orakpo and jackson/wilson is THAT big. Same with Carriker and Jenkins. What concerns me is the drop off between Jenkins, Jackson, Wilson, and the guys behind THEM. Instead of rotating 2nd stringers in hte starting lineup throughout the game, we're going to be rotating guys that probably shouldnt even be a gameday roster. |

Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
Dammit. Orakpo and the training staff really need to refocus on flexibility. Two muscle tears in two seasons. I get it, strength is important for football players, but doesn't help much if the muscles aren't flexible enough to prevent tearing.

WR is one place where we dont need to add anyone. Its easily our deepest, most talented position group. |

SUCKS
he's only missed 1 game prior to this injury. i think we've seen the best he has to offer. we know what to expect from him: roughly 10 sacks / 50-60 tackles / a few forced fumbles / and a few passes defensed - per season
|
Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
Good teams have depth. In year 3 of the Shannahan era I dont think the skins have the depth they need to weather these storms. I am hoping for big things from Jenkins, Rak is a huge loss.

Pro Bowl caliber play, basically. |

We've been down that road, but it wasnt that bad. He wasnt ideal, but he was certainly serviceable. And he left on good terms. I'd rather bring him in than some other random veteran free agent. We'll probably just upgrade someone from the practice squad. |
