Re: Ty Law Released
hmm. I wonder what his askign price will be. High im sure.
|
Re: Ty Law Released
As high as Champ I'll bet.
|
Re: Ty Law Released
He's out of our league money wise that's for sure.
I'm surprised they released him, I thought they would have worked something out. |
Re: Ty Law Released
Man....why are we in such cap hell?!?
IMO Ty Law is the best CB in the NFL and we sure could use him given Smoot's asking price. He is better than Champ. |

Re: Ty Law Released
Yeah I thought they would work it out too, but he and Belicheck were definitely on bad terms. I thought they might try what we are doing with Coles (attempt to restructure and trade) but I guess they were willing to just clean their hands of him. He's good, but I bet he's only got two, MAYBE three years left in him.
|
Re: Ty Law Released
I would rather have Smoot. Law is older, highly paid and on the way down. Which means he's right up the Dannys alley...
|
Re: Ty Law Released
With all the cap room we've cleared up so far, I don't think that Smoot coming back is out of the question, especially now. Remember what I said about him coming back? Belie' dat'!
|
Re: Ty Law Released
I'd like to see him on the team but he wants to be paid like the best corner in the league, a Bailey type deal. This is good for us though because maybe we'll be able to resign Smoot because of all these high profile corners going on the market.
|
Re: Ty Law Released
who cares?he ai'nt coming to dc anyhow.
|
Re: Ty Law Released
Im suprised he wasn't released last year when he had a situation similar to Coles. Only his reason was he wanted more money, if I recall correctly.
|
Re: Ty Law Released
If The World Champions Dont Want Him Doesn't That Throw Up A Red Flag
|
Re: Ty Law Released
I don't think so. They have an all-around "Greg Williams"-like team. No-name players who prove that desire and want can overpower a big contract anyday.
|
Re: Ty Law Released
Guys - Law was disgruntled last year, and I doubt anything changed he finally got his way. Law is the best CB in the league. I wouldn't go after him because of the price, but he's nothing but talent. Even though last year he got away with murder on Harrison.

Re: Ty Law Released
And hence the reason for "illegal contact." Thanks Ty!! :P
|
Re: Ty Law Released
he'll be in kansas city next year. I just happy that maybe his release may help us get Smoot back.
|
Re: Ty Law Released
kanas city? i thoguth they were in cap hell to. they dont have the money to go get a defense
|
Re: Ty Law Released
on the contrary, the Chiefs have alot of cap room and want to amp up the defense. to match their offense in the last year of vermil's contract
|
Re: Ty Law Released
Malcom:
If my calculations are correct, trading away Coles will eat up more than all of the cap room that the Skins have cleared so far - - meaning that if Samuels does not give them some relief, they can't afford to trade Coles nor will they have the money to give Smoot and sign much of anything else. Daseal: He wanted a renegotiation after his superb year in 2003. But he was under contract and the Pats said the equivalent of "Sorry, but we don't do that. Play out your contract and we'll talk after that." Then he was hurt and missed the last 8 or 9 games and all of the playoffs. From what I read, he still wanted a huge contract with a huge signing bonus meaning that in a couple of years he would be a cap nightmare for the Pats. So they released him. |

I know this will not go over very well but I just dont understand why all you guys are so high on Smoot. In mho he is an average corner at best. I say dont let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya bye bye Smooty. |

Re: Ty Law Released
so the Cowboys could use a CB, they have cap room, Law used to play for Parcells...hmmm
|
Re: Ty Law Released
Please...are you kidding me, Ty Law, better than Champ Bailey, Ty is a System CB, and until he can make the Pro Bowl, not playing for NE, then maybe we can put him on Champ Level, but better.....Nooooooooo
|
Re: Ty Law Released
He'd want too much money............and he was a troublemaker too...........

This is from the Miami Herald:
Kansas City has emerged as the leading contender to trade for Dolphins cornerback Patrick Surtain with a deal by Wednesday being a ''50-50'' possibility, according to two NFL sources. Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson spent much of Friday night negotiating with agent Gary Uberstine, who represents Surtain, on a contract extension for Surtain, who is entering the final year of his contract. Peterson declined to discuss the matter, but he is also aware of what the Dolphins want as compensation. The Chiefs have the No. 15 overall pick in the first round but are unlikely to give up that high a pick. More likely, the Chiefs might be willing to give up their second-round pick and a future mid-round pick as a package for Surtain. Kansas City is seeking to seriously upgrade its defense, particularly after AFC West foe Oakland agreed to trade for Pro Bowl receiver Randy Moss.
|
Re: Ty Law Released
I heard a Surtain to Minnesota rumor. Onterrio Smith for Surtain!
|
Re: Ty Law Released
the chiefs definitly need an upgrade at corner and that would be it. Id be pretty pissed if Randy Moss just entered our division...kinda like how I felt when TO entered ours...
|
Re: Ty Law Released
Signing Law would be old-school danny-boy star chasing. Won't happen.
Good news for our signing of smoot, no doubt. Who's gonna pay mega bucks for smoot with Law, Rolle, etc. out there? The CB market is over staurated... |
