Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
Latest reports sound like the rain will hold off. Unfortunately that means better field conditions for the Falcons duo, and harder for our secondary to have any chance of slowing them down.
For me the keys to the game include winning the turnover battle, playing aggressively (not accepting long fg tries, going on 4th at some points in the game, etc), and 3rd down conversions. Both teams are good at protecting the ball, and both have scored from their defense. I see this as a place where Griffin will make the big difference. As long as he doesn't fumble, he has shown he doesn't make many bad reads. I do worry about a Mike Nolan schemed defense so Griffin needs to bring his best today. Ultimately, as in the prediction thread, I see this as a game where the last team with the ball, wins the game. |
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
Seems that everyone is expecting the Falcons to roll the Redskins easily.

I predict an ambush. |

Which makes it even better. They seem to play better when everyone counts them out. |
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
We'll put up points. Gonna have to win in shoot-out style.
Nobody thought we could win week 1 either. |
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
its time to get that statement home win!!!! I think the team is gonna be pumped up today. I expect alot of energy

I don't really understand that. Atlanta is good, very good, but they gave up a lot of points to both KC and Carolina, so I think we ought to be able to keep up. The problem as everyone knows, is that our defense needs to show that they aren't just a sieve. |
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
every year there are surprise victories... this is going to have to be one of those if we want to be 3-2 on monday. it can happen, but i wouldn't put money on the skins this week.

Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
#Redskins inactives vs. #Falcons: QB Grossman, CB Griffin, S Meriweather, WR Briscoe, OLB White, OG LeRibeus, OG Gettis.

Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
Here's what I'm hoping the Redskins do:
Robert Griffin III passes for at least 250 yards and runs for 125 more. Alfred Morris rushes for 120 yards and a couple of TDs Pierre Garcon gets back on track with at least 7 catches for over 100 yards. That the offensive line pass protects well and run blocks well. Ryan Kerrigan sacks Matt Ryan 3 or 4 times today. DeAngelo can prove he's worth a damn in coverage. That the Defensive line gets some penetration and record a couple of sacks. |

Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
This game is going to staple us and be the cornerstone for whete the Shannys are going with the Redskins. We are at home and its been rough at fed ex lately, but now we have that franchise QB, and RB. We have key players on defense.. Today is the day for all Redskin fans to hopefully obtain what weve been asking for a decade now........
A future |
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
Wet Field= Advantage to the running game, disadvantage to Receiving game..

I really don't see the rain hurting the passing game much. It hurts the secondary more than the receivers so maybe that puts us on a more level playing field given our secondary woes already. The great equalizer we are looking for??? |
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
Alright, nobody thinks we're going to win! Woot. That means we'll win.
|
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
its gonna rain? Good, Alfmo loves the slop. I heard he's a mudder...
|
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
48 - 24 Falcons .... i just dont see us winning this game.
|
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
RG3 rockin the pink sleeve. I dig that.
|
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
I think this game comes down to whether or not we get pressure on Ryan or not. Also, if we don't get a turnover, I don't think we win this.
Defensive line pressure + turnover = guaranteed win |
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
I respect and fully support the cause but damn that pink clashes hard with the B&G.

Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
God DAMNIT .......That's Game. GAME OVER MAN.
I thought I'd go ahead and get that over with since we know it's coming. You can just use this as a placeholder to quote . |

Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
They're just gonna audible pass on us this entire drive huh? Okay.
|
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
Why do we always differ? We are a running offense and we want to keep the O off the field, but we give it to them first to chew 8 minutes?
|
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
Wilson still stinks. Meh.
|
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
Zero pass rush = very long day for the Skins.

I don't mind it. At least we get the ball after the half. I think Shanahan wants us to have the momentum then at the 2nd half of the game. When it seems to matter most. |
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
So lucky Ryan overthrew Douglas or that would have been a crucial 3rd down conversion.

Calm down captain insano. Jones pushed off |
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
Banks. When is he gonna break one off. So far he's just been our gadget play guy.

Wouldn't of been an offensive PI so that fact is moot. Wilson's been off since the Rams game when he suffered the concussion. |

Our interior linemen have no push up the middle. I know they are not supposed to have gaudy stats and whatnot, but they have to do a better job at collapsing the pocket. We have to stop them from converting 3rd downs and our offense needs to convert them if we are going to win this game. |
Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread
Looks like Haslett is content on 3 man rushes todagy
