Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
Wanted to start this a little early since new broke out that RG3 will practice tomorrow! I hope he can play.
RG3 will practice on Wednesday I have a feeling it's going to be another close one, and we will battle it out till the end. If we win..Redskins Nation will rejoice in cheers of joy. If we lose.. Redskins Nation will bellow with fear and hatred among our coaching staff and players. Revolting for a total change-over. |
Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
The Redskins have to match blow for blow with the Vikings rushing game. I'm really not too worried about Ponder or their receivers. Offensively, we just need to bang away with Morris. Perhaps allow Ryan Grant to get some touches too. Hopefully Pierre Garcon will show the fire that he had in week 1.
I'm not going to think negative because this is a truly must win situation. Giants fans, Cowboys fans, and Eagles fans are already talking shit about how we're dead last in the division. |
Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
The Vikings have been playing well, however they really haven't played anyone except San Fran (who did lose Patrick Willis that game). The Vikings are like the Rams. They can run better (QB, RB, and WR Percy Harvin) than the Rams can. RG3 coming off a concussion going against Kevin Williams, Jared Allen, Chad Greenway and a secondary that may be missing Harrison Smith (whom shoved a Ref last week) will be a tough test for the most part. RG3 just simply cannot take hits this week. Simple as that.
Last year when we played Minnesota we did well, until Ponder got hurt (and AP), then all of a sudden Joe Webb (a running QB) came in and Haslett didn't adjust and we got beat by 10 I want to say. We win if we stop the run and contain Percy. Rudolph is turning into a good TE, but he's no Gonzalez or Graham. I say 28-24, Skins, but that can easily be Vikings with the 28. Theres a reason they're 4-1 and we're 2-3. I like that its at home, but that doesn't really mean much for us now does it (7 straight home losses) |
Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
Stop the run, which we failed to do last year even when ap went down and toby came in... protect the passer whomever it may be.. pound the rock but PLEASE mix up the play calling rythym better.. throw mire screens like week one, more draw plays.... and after last week especially, more deep shots.
Let's hope the new kicker kicks well! |

The Redskins are still missing something. Not saying we are a completely bad team, but good teams win most of their games at home. We should have defeated the Bengals and the Falcons at FED EX FIELD. |
Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
Agreed ^ ... we blew alot of chances while not executing in boty of those games.... it sucks, but time to move on and hope, HOPE, adjustments are made...

The Redskins are in EVERY game. That's more then can be said for a lot of other NFL teams. I felt like last week was a game that was going to show the direction the Redskins wanted to go, but then RG3 got hurt. We've had a pretty tough schedule so far if you are going by records in the first 1/4 of the season. I'm hoping we continue looking solid on offense with improved defense performances every game. |
If we dont convert 3rd downs we are going to lose thus game. Esp since the Vikes can grindvthe clock with their running game.

I'm confused on the concussion diagnosis at this point. Brain swelling/bruising typically makes you pretty nauseous and foggy for a few days at least...agility drills would be damn near impossible. Hopefully RG3 just got rattled on a big hit and concussion was an overstatement. |
Skins take this one only if Griffin plays.
27-20 If not then viks roll us 30-14 |
Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
This might be the most important game for MS. He needs to win this one badly. Can't go 2-4. Minnesota beat us last year with Joe Webb and Toby Gerhart and our defense was healthy. It will be close, can't drop another game at home.

One thing I never liked is to see the team fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting, and continuously coming up short in really close games. And then the team record goes to 2-3 when the team actually plays like a 5-0 or perhaps a 4-1 ball club. |

Weirdly enough, if we win, it's likely we'll be tied for first place in the NFCE. Who woulda' thought that?!

Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
A big, if not critical, point of interest to me will be to see if Grossman is active. It would be a bit telling of the coaches evaluation of Cousins if after 5 consecutive games where he is the backup, after his first shot he no longer carries the lone backup banner. I don't know what I would want them to do, but I will be very interested to see how it is handled, assuming Griffin plays.

Yup. Right on. I hope that Grossman is our #2. Sure, he might throw 3 interceptions. But he also might play quite well (good Wrecks/bad Wrecks). Cousins looks lost and in need of seasoning. |
Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
I think we'll win. I just saw RGIII in a Subway commercial and he seemed pretty coherent.

Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
after the smoke clears i honestly think it will be best to sit rg3 out of this game... i want him to recover correctly and i think we can win this game without him by controlling the clock, converting 3rd downs and limiting thier running attack... i would feel comfortable with a solid gameplan limiting asking either of our back ups to do TOO much... i think we can win this game no matter who plays at qb... we just have to play smart and hope our coaches can coach the team to a win with a solid gameplan.

Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
I tend to think the decision to keep him out last week was overly cautious (a good thing in the heat of the game to take it out of the player and coach's hands) but if he passes the full battery of tests that they go through, and is cleared then there is really no reason to keep him out, in my non medical non holiday inn express staying opinion.

He didn't know what quarter it was or the score, so I'm not sure it was overly cautious sitting him out the rest of the game, but I think he's ready to play come Sunday. |

They asked him twice per WT, one time he did, one time he didn't. He wasn't crazy loopy, but again, I like that the error during the game is on side of caution, because it's too easy for a competitive coach and competitive player to push through a non obvious injury. |
Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
I know there is probably no such thing as a mild concussion, but the word is that RG3 didn't ever really "black-out" so that's a good thing. Did he get rattled? Absolutely, but the fact that he was not unconsious really helps his chances of getting back this week I think.

Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
Break it down.
Minnesota is having a great season so far, on offense they are 14th in the league in scoring(24ppg), 9th in the league in rushing and Christian Ponder and Percy Harvin are having a BIG season together. Harvin is on pace for over 100 catches. TE Kyle Rudolph leads the team in Td catches (4). On defense Minnesota is 6th in scoring (15ppg) and as usual very good against the run (76YPGA). Viks get to the QB often and Leading Rusher Jared Allen is already on pace for another 12 plus sacks. This will be a close hard fought game IMO, the vikings will pound the rock and use the playaction pass attack as they have all season. Percy Harvin is really their only true threat at WR but the guy is having a monster year. I worry about our offense this week because the vikings stop the run better than anyone we've seen so far. If Griff is 100% I'll give us the upset win at home but if not I just don't see us grinding it out vs a team with Adrian Peterson at RB. Thoughts? |
Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
we'll fight our guts out

Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
I think they should sit RG3 this week and bring back next week. A little too soon especially if he gets popped again. Let Cousins hold it down this week and bring back RG3 next week. Just my opinion but I want him here for a long time. Long tern gain better than short term gain. He has already had a concussion at Baylor. Effects are cumulative. Play it safe for a week is best.

Methinks he needs more seasoning in practice alone, without the game on the line. But point taken. |

Agreed. Season is pretty much over for us AFAIC. |

He practiced today and seemed fine. If the doctors clear him to play then he should play.

The skins won't play Griffin unless independent neurologists say its safe for him to play. But you're saying the skins should sit griffin even if independent neurologists say he's fine. And after the doctors say hes fine, how many additional weeks should shanahan, who is not a doctor, chose to sit him? You seem to know more about concussions than neurologists, so I'm curious. Also, I'd love to work for you, since I'm assuming you'd pay me to do nothing for weeks after a doctor tells me I can return to work. Doctors, who needs them or cares what they say about anything? |
Re: Week 6 Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings Pregame Thread
Since the season is obviously over with a 2-3 record and 11 more games to play, maybe we should just sit RGIII out the rest of the season. Heck, we might want to sit him next year too just to make sure.
