Your first car
Can't remember if we've done this before or not, so oh well here goes
What was your first car? Mine was a '79 Oldsmobile Tornado She only lasted less than a year, followed her up with a '79 Mercury Grand Marquis I miss those big old cars with gas guzzling v-8s with backseats as big as your living room couch lol |
Re: Your first car
Funny story about the car I first drove, a 1967 VW Beetle, (same year I was born). It was the bumper car for all 5 of the kids in my family, many fenders were replaced on that thing. I was the youngest of the 5, and the day of my graduation at the Capital Center - as it was known then- I came out of the ceremony, and was about to pull on to the beltway, when the engine locked up. It never drove again, and I have always felt like it said, "I did my job, now I am outta here!"

Excellent engine, sodding awful bodywork. It lasted all of a couple of weeks before I took it back to the dealer for a refund. |

big and juicy, a hand-me-down from my grandparents in summer of 2002. 72,000 miles on it, it was totaled on my way to work when a guy ran a stop sign and plowed into me that same winter. |

I sort of had two first cars:
My brother's Mazda 626 that looked like this: And the first car I bought was a 2001 Hyundai Accent that looked like this: |

Gotta love a good car thread.
Mine was a 1987 Chevrolet V10 (the model, not an indicator of cylinder count) truck. I bought it in November 1999, when I was 17. It is still in my fleet. |

Re: Your first car
In high school I got a 63 chevy van; three on a tree. I was able to use it for school and work.

Re: Your first car
After I was hit the third time in my moms 1995 (give or take a year) they finally gave it to me with the insurance money to fix up. It looked like the one in the pick. We did all the body work and a guy sprayed it for $50 in a storage shed and it was one of the best paint jobs I had seen back in the days.

Re: Your first car
When I started driving I had to tool around in my older sister's Geo Storm. It looked just like this:
Then for my 17th bday my parents got me an awesome '83 Chevy Blazer - only a year younger than me: Except mine had bad ass old school Chevy rally wheels. |

Introducing Goldy. Goldy had a sagging head liner. Naugahyde seats. No discernible ac. And a V6 that drank fuel and handed it out to nearby vehicles for free I think. |

Am I really the first Ford Taurus on this thread? That thing was a POS.

Re: Your first car
Blue 89 Escort. loved it. The upper dashboard light could be removed was a hiding spot. I got a small glass bowl stuck up there and when you took sharp turns you could hear it rattle and slide in the hood from side to side.
Am I really the first Ford Taurus on this thread? That thing was a POS.
My 3rd car (the first one I actually bought) was a '96 Ford Taurus. It was pretty goofy looking, but it actually wasn't a bad car.

Re: Your first car
1988 Chevy Cavalier Coupe looked just like this, but Navy Blue
Sagging headliner that I eventually cut out, so tiny piece of yellow foam would fall all over the place. Driver's seatframe was f'ed (warping the chair to the point where you couldn't sit straight), so I had to replace the driver's seat twice. About two weeks after I replaced the driver's seat the 2nd time, I got T-Boned at the intersection of Route 355 and Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg MD by a lady that was heading home from her Holiday Party. Car got me through high school and my first semester of college. Use to regularly pile 5-6 people in to go places. Fun times... |

Yeah, that was my upgrade!
Then to the Acura CL. Miss that CL. |
