American Horror Story: Asylum
I HAD to start a threat about it because. This shit is CRAY. I mean WOW. Episode 2 tonight, its not even over yet lol but it's intense. I didn't watch the first season but.. Yeah I'm kinda shaking in my boots.
|
I watched some of the first season, it was ok but I wasn't really interested other than the hot women..
|
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
Seasons aren't continuous. So this new season has a new cast, new story.

It only got worse this episode. I thought the season premiere was nuts. I spoke way, way too soon. The violence and the subject matter are pretty wild too. Asylum being run by corrupt nuns. |
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
I missed the last thing the cute blonde nun - the one that fainted after the boy died - did after the murderer Dr. came in and spoke with her at the end of the show. It looked like she tossed off the sheet. It seemed to imply that the demon possessed her now.
The whole "demonic possession" thing, when done right (like it was in the show), is one of the scariest things on film for me. The insidious, seductive evil that burns with a corrupting and morbidly fascinating hate. |

She seemed a little too forward with the doctor when she woke up after passing out. Man speaking of which, I really don't like him. All I can think of James Cromwell as is The Farmer from Babe: Pig in the City. Now he's like this serial killer rapist. Jesus. |
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
You know, if I knew 2 episodes would be all about medically torturing and probably killing a woman, I may have reconsidered this. But now I'm sucked I'm so I have to watch.
I love horror movies, nothing ever really makes me uncomfortable but damn, week after week, this show does. |
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
I really need to check this show out. Was season 1 any good too?
|
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
I didn't watch Season 1, but the people who I've talked to that watched it say they enjoyed it, probably more so than this season.
I'm wondering if JoeRedskin watched this past episode, seeing as I think me and him are the only ones watching it. Seriously, if you're into horror movies, this is about as wild as cable TV can get. If you're interested.... Spoilers from episode 2... So one of the nuns is currently possessed by the devil, she tracks down "The Mexican", one of the female patients, who is very religious and knows instantly that she's possessed, in her room. Forces her to her knees to pray and then stabs her in the neck with a cross. Then in the heart. Crazy no!? The part that tripped me out was towards the end of the episode where the Dr. (Who's name I can't remember, but he's played by James Cromwell so him) tries to rape one of the patients, who's being treated for nymphomania. But his gun fires off a little too soon, so to speak. She makes fun of him for it while trying to get away from him, so he smashes her in the head with some object off his table. The episode ends with the patient on his operating table, and he's CUT OFF HER F'ING LEGS. He obviously has no intentions of letting her go, as the snippet from the next episode shows him injecting something into her head. |

I saw enough to give it another shot
lol thanks Hog. I wouldn't push a show so hard if I thought people wouldn't like it. :D |
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
Rave, you had my wife and I inspired after reading this thread. We have our first one on DVR and we're going to watch tonight. Will let you know!
|
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
Arghhh! I forgot to watch last nights episode. I'm not taking any chances this Weds, setting my DVR to rec the new and rerun episode so I am caught up.
So far this season looks like it could surpass the first. |
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
if you miss one, just grab it off eztv. it's a good show, not much more to add.
|
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
FINALLY watched this show and DAMN, this seriously pushes the boundaries of what I thought you could show on TV. VERY scary though. Is going to go on the permanent rotation...
Should I watch the first two or was just this week's good enough to be caught up? |

I LOVED the first season (esp since Jessica Lang basically played an evil version of my grandmother) and I can say the 2nd episode of this season was right up there with last year. |
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
Sweet, I'll do it then. After watching that last night I just could not BELIEVE what they showed on there. Hallway beej?! LOOOL.
|
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
Love this show. From the creator of Nip/Tuck, so I was ready for the shocking content... but AHS captures a horror sensibility very rarely seen on television. Same creator as Glee, too (go figure).

Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
Cray!
Anne Frank was a weird twist. Now its a Nazi story. End of the episode was kinda sick though. Explains those weird dead-alive people outside the asylum. |

Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
I've watched all of this seasons so far and I watched last season. I'm into horror films, so when I saw the previews for this last year, I was really interested. I have to say that last season was significantly better than this one for me. That being said, I've liked this season. Last season, just had a different feel to it...it felt more like it could happen to anyone, for me. This season seems a little more disconnected from everyday life, but it's still very good.
The two seasons are quite different from one another but they share a few key cast members. I will say that this season started picking up somewhat with the rumors about Dr. Arden in the last episode. For some reason, that storyline has been the most interesting for me so far. I knew they would have to come up with a way to explain his sadism, I'd say that this is as interesting as any. Sorry for being somewhat vague, I'm just trying to not post any spoilers. |

Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
I didn't watch Season 1. Was it a period piece as well or was it current?
It was current but with a ton of flash backs. Basically it was your standard haunted house ghost story, but they did frequent flash backs every episode to show the history of the house. I highly recommend you get it on Netflix or something.
As for last night - I have a seriously bad feeling about Dr. Thredson but it's not really based on anything except a hunch. I wouldn't be too shocked to find out he's the real Bloody Face. Also, how about that the casting for the young Dr. Arden/Gruber!! That guy looked EXACTLY like James Cromwell. |
Where did you find the younger version of James Cromwell? That’s his son! When we were casting that part, James said, “Well you have to f—ing cast my son—he looks just like me.” He walked in and indeed he did. We cast him on the spot. You can’t beat the synchronicity and luck of that. James’ son looks exactly like him at that age. It was perfect.
|

Holy crap so that was her?! I wasn't sure til now. Yeah she really is a chameleon. Glad I got caught up on all the episodes I missed. Right now its my number 2 can't miss show (Vampire Diaries is 1 in case your wondering). |
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
Spoilers ahead!
As soon as I thought the show had lost some of it's violent appeal, it looks like Bloody face is gonna torture poor Lana, both physically and psychologically. I hope she gets out of that though, because I really enjoyed her character. And what's up with the Anne Frank lobotomy? They never work like that. They usually leave the victim like a vegetable. Was she just dreaming that or what? |
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
What channel is it?

Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
Season 1 is up on Netflix now.
I just started watching it yesterday, I was kinda meh on the first 2 episodes, but after 4 episodes now I'm digging it. |

I disagree. Absolutely loving Asylum- it's more insane than the first season. |
Re: American Horror Story: Asylum
I'm actually a week behind, which is why I haven't commented. I'm DVRing tonight's episode and last week's episode, since FX plays the damn show 4 times in a row.
I should have some input later on in the week. :D |
