Pierre needs to get on with surgery if it's pain all the time. He may have been back already if he had surgery and the pain probably gone. Torn ligament should be fixed as best as possible as quick as possible. Not having surgery when he can make tons in the NFL as well as fix it is a decision that will probably be done but should have already been done. We need help from our receivers not this. Hoping Niles Paul and Hankerson are ready to step up.

If you read the entire article it said that the surgery might not even help and my guess would be if the chances it would help were high he would have had it operated on.

Niles Paul and Hankerson are not stepping up and that's been the problem. How do other teams always find these no name guys to step up and play well, but the Skins don't? WR has been a problem for this team since Gary Clark left. Morgan has been an OK pickup, but loosing Davis and Garcon is starting to catch up to this team in the scoring department the last couple of weeks. When your best receiver is Logan Paulson, you have problems.

Re: great injury news

As I understand it, based on my own experience, ligament tears are tricky and, particularly in the foot, are hard to repair unless operated on relatively quickly. If not, they "scar-up" in the torn position and never fully heal. I am holding out hope b/c I am no doctor and maybe they know something I don't. But, honestly, it sounds a lot like what happened with my foot (torn ligament in the metatarsil). I had surgery several months after the actual tear and, over a year later, my foot is still not right.

Foot and hand stuff is very tricky b/c of the many working parts that go into them. Lots of little bones and ligaments that, if damaged, are hard to heal up.

My bet is that it never fully goes away and he will have to get to the point where it is simply a manageable pain that doesn't increase the damage.

As much as I want to be happy about this, something tells me he's going to be playing hurt and probably will not be as effective as he normally would be.

I think Garcon said yesterday he expects he probably will have this pain for the rest of his career and doesn't want to have surgery because that potentially could be even worse. It's a shame all around

Garcon - even at 75% might be able to give us something.

JB - eh, might as well stick with Polumbus at this point. I give him 2 weeks before he's banged up again.

Meriweather - sure would be nice if he could get in there and give us some halfway decent play at safety.

I also read where Garcon doesn't want surgery. And yes it would be nice to see Meriweather make a difference. He could possibly help a lot. He says he feels 100%. We shall see...

I would be shocked if Garcon plays again this season, let's hope Meriweather doesn't bump into anyone at practice :)

From the looks of it, if AA clears waivers, we are going to pick him back up.

Last week we put out #Redskins tried to claim AA but JAX got him. They would have released Dez.. AA has been waived by jax, hits waivers [/B]

Meriweather is expected to make his debut, as long as there are no more pre-game accidents.

Is it sick that I thought this thread titled "great injury news" was going to be about Michael Vick? :D

After hearing that, I feel like he's another FA we can add to the bust list.

REDSKINS4ever 11-13-2012 11:53 AM

Re: great injury news

It's still too early to call Garcon a bust. Some injuries never fully heal. Just because he has to play with the pain for the remainder of his career doesn't mean he still can't produce. It simply means that he'll be playing with pain until he's done playing.

CRedskinsRule 11-13-2012 11:56 AM

Re: great injury news

PG, if he busts, is not the typical FA bust of years past. AH, Jason Taylor, McNabb, etc big names that had no intention of making the Skins a better team. Nothing I have seen from PG sends the message he wasn't hoping to come in, and go full speed from day one. Does it add to the snakebit feeling yes, but I just don't put him in the Redskins bust mode of FA's yet, or probably ever.

I wouldn't mind that because of his speed and he can stretch the field...especially with PG's condition. He's never really had big numbers or been much of a difference maker though from what I remember. Than again he's never had Griffin throwing to him in the regular season either. Could be interesting. Worth a shot at this point.

44 catches for 872 yards in 2010.

Way to early to call him a bust or even not a good signing. I agree he in no way fits in with the other guys you mentioned. But it does bring back that we can't win for losing feeling. Hate to see this happen to such a young guy with a promising career with a great QB ahead of him. Like Joe said...he will probably play with some pain until the end of his career. He certainly won't be the first. Just hope it at least becomes tolerable enough to still play at a high level.

I won't call JT a bust he had that stupid injury that followed him all year. Also his age was a real big factor

I was speaking of Meriweather. Hard to say about Garcon. If he's been wearing an orthepedic device...which I think I heard...and resting his foot it's hard to see him in game shape other than a decoy maybe.

Garcon was never a great player like those guys though. It was all about potential with him, and that seems to be waning.

but, there is nothing in it for haynesworth, and he has shown reluctance. snyder is working w tom cruise to put together a package that may entice haynesworth. keep your fingers crossed

Have no idea man that's why I asked. Garcon was an inconsistent WR to begin with, and now he looks to have a nagging injury for the remainder of his career. Really, really hard to imagine he can be our #1 guy, but he's getting paid like one and we need that money badly.

I mean, at this point I think you do whatever is best salary cap wise. Cut him? Force immediate renegotiation of contract?
