Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
Just reported. Goes without saying the most intense football player of our time. Perhaps the best to ever play the position.
First ballot. |
re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
All ready mentioned.

re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
Definitely first ballot HOF.
Hell of a career. |
re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
That's fine, we can put the attention back to the games in the WC thread

re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
Faux John Madden @FauxJohnMadden
BREAKING: Tony Romo sent Ray Lewis a retirement gift but it was unfortunately intercepted once again by a Redskins defender. |

First ballot.
He was no LT. |
re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
IS it just me or should he had waited until the end of the Raven's season vs. creating some drama in the middle of a playoff week?
Any who great career but good riddance, personally never liked the guy. |

They didn't play the same spot at LB. Lewis is definitely one of the top MLBs of all time. |

LT changed the position. He was transformational in his own right. LT changed the way players today are drafted. Apples and oranges, but I get your point. |

I really have no problem with Ray Ray. The guy is definitely a leader within the Ravens, Baltimore won't be the same without him. |
re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
I feel honored and grateful to have witnessed the career of one of the best to ever play MLB. Good luck Mr. Lewis as you sojourn through life.
I also feel grateful that we are not playing the Ravens this week. Those boys will be fired up on his behalf. |
re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
Great player, definitely will be watching Baltimore Indy this weekend to hear the home crowds response to Ray.
Watch the Football Life of Ray Lewis; Shows how great of a guy he was on and off the field. |

It's actually the one I haven't seen yet I thought it was very interesting to find out a couple of years back that after every home game he drives through some of Baltimore's worst neighborhoods and spends time talking to the residents |
re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
He hasn't retired he is GOING to retire at the end of the season

It is just my opinion and a weak one at that since I really don't know him or any NFL player for that matter. |

In his prime, best ever at his position period

Had they not made the playoffs I suppose Lewis would play one more season

Re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
If I'm Ozzie Newsome, I'm giving Ed Reed a big contract to have him stay to keep the defense good, and I'm trading up to get Te'o

Re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
Ray Lewis could always pull a Brett Farve. We won't know if he's truly retired until the 2013 season starts.

He could, but he doesn't seem like a waffler to me. He mentioned that one of the reasons he wants to retire is to see his kid's college football games if he gets a scholarship. Hard to do that if you're in a meeting room when his games are playing. Personally I believe him. He's accomplished everything he has ever wanted in the NFL short of multiple championships (which he could do this year), and I kinda think his recent injury might have helped him make his decision. Obviously he's a first ballot HOFer. Good luck to him in the future, even though I thought he was a little over-the-hill in recent years I have a lot of respect for his accomplishments. |
Re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
Lewis will have a great life beyond football too IMO. Like those who watched the Football Life episode on Ray, I believe he finds purpose in whatever life affords.
...and London should be a first ballot HOFer too. Ok back to Ray... |
Re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
No matter how people feel about him, his dedication to the game had no equal. I did see his football life, made me want to get off the couch and spear tackle my wife.
Maybe now London can get the credit he deserves. |

I thought it was very interesting to find out a couple of years back that after every home game he drives through some of Baltimore's worst neighborhoods and spends time talking to the residents
Yup, it's a good one too. Not that they've had a bad one yet, I just saw the Jimmy Johnson one last week and it was excellent. |
Re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
TBH I would rather have him on my team than LT. Character and leadership account for a lot.
EDIT: I almost forgot I was very wrong about him when he first came into the NFL and had that incident in Atlanta. I thought he was going to be a Pacman Jones type(before there was a Pacman in the NFL). Glad that turned out not to be the Real Ray Lewis. |
Re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
If I'm correct Ray said he wanted to be there to watch his kids play football and had no idea he would still be playing when they were playing HS football.
|
Re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
I hear Ed Reed is not that far behind Ray. This last off season Ed was unsure if he was coming back and did not notify the team until late that he was coming back. If Ed was entertaining the retirement idea last year, I can't imagine it will be long.

Re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
Reported that he's about to sign a multi-year deal with ESPN.

Re: Ray Lewis To Retire at End of Ravens Post-Season
Ray and Herm Edwards in the same room at production meetings will be insane. Herm is one of the baddest mofo's I ever did work with
