How Many Discussion Boards Do You Belong To?
 

Including the Warpath, I belong to four discussion boards. One private board with close friends, a music board, this board, and that huge City-Data board.

I'm not proud to admit that I'm a discussion board junkie. :blah:

Whoever said that discussion boards are a dying social media hasn't met me yet, lol!

One other mainly for a special group of internet and real life friends I've made over the years.
And usually at least two others for whatever computer games I'm interested in.

Just warpath for me.

Here and Reddit are the two places I post. I lurk at ES to find good articles or stats. (mostly garbage though)

Just here for me too. I've thought about looking for a Nats board but that seems like WAY too much work.

I'm a member of the Warpath (obviously) and Uproxx. I post to Uproxx usually only about The Walking Dead and Archer so my postings there are few and far between.

I'm also a very active member of Buzzfeed.

I check Reddit from time to time but I have a hard time following the feed progression, as well as 4chan. So I just lurk there.

um, a ton.... actively though? maybe 2-3 at a time. here, some gaming forums, and 4chan when i'm looking for something specific.

Here + lurking in gardening forums when I have a gardening problem, electronics forums when I have an electronics problem, etc.

I remember reading an article not too long ago stating how the discussion forum board was the first social media (although I'd probably say email was) and that it's now extinct due to Facebook. But, like you guys, I STILL surf forums for information, leisure, socializing, etc... much more so than Facebook. I've tried the Facebook "clubs", and other than the class reunion one that is semi-active, I can't stand Facebook clubs.

well, the bbs and then newsgroups came first... then IRC. 4chan is sorta like the old newsgroups and they're very alive and kicking, so is reddit. the only difference there is moderation (up votes).

facebook hasn't really killed anything. IRC is pretty dead compared to the 90s though.

I was thinking more in terms of the first email sent back in the early 70's, but in terms of the 90's internet, yes, BBs and newsgroups came first. I haven't spent much time on 4chan or reddit. Of course, I spend most of my time on the internet at work...much of my time at home is spent knocking out the honey do lists, lol!

A couple of football forums; baking forums; MMA forums; and two comic books forum.

This is the only board I really check daily, I lurk on Reddit, a gaming forum, and usually if I have a problem I'll look for a specific forum for my needs, but that's about it.

Dunno if my ES membership is still active, just lurk there.

Like reading the articles at Hogs Haven, two sci-fi boards, checking out other teams open message boards around the time we play them (good info on other team as a fan, IMO)
