NFL Top 100 of 2013

The NFL Network is coming out with their yearly Top 100 series "For the players; voted by the players." Airing this Saturday the 27th at 8pm.

Last year only London Fletcher made it at 87. Who makes it this year for the Skins?

My guesses would be Griffin, Trent Williams and London. (Alfred may make it. Sleeper pick could be Kerrigan.)

Also who is in the Top 5 best players in the NFL?

I'd go
1) Adrian Peterson
2) Calvin Johnson
3) JJ Watt
4) Aaron Rodgers
5) Patrick Willis

Pretty good chance we'll get more than one this year.

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

And CB59 that's a solid top 5.

skinsfaninok 04-25-2013 08:56 AM

I love this series.

Griffin should be in top 50 for sure.

Trent Williams will also be top 100.

Then maybe Fletcher again but that's probably it.

My top 5

1. AD
2. Tom Brady
3. A. ROD
4. WATT
5. CALVIN JOHNSON

You could also put peyton and von Miller in that group. Miller is just as good as any defensive player IMO and peyton is peyton.

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

yea, peyton def looked like peyton last year

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

From the Redskins you have to figure RGIII, Fletcher and probably Morris. Williams may make it as well, very outside shot on Kerrigan but I think he's too below the radar.

I'll be interested to see where RGIII ends up in comparison to Kaepernick and R. Wilson. I think he should be at least 20 spot higher than either of them but since they had more playoff shine, they may be closer or even above him (which would be a mistake).

Overall top 5?
5. Peterson
4. Megatron
3. Watt
2. Brady
1. Rodgers

All I want is Tyrann Mathieu but I'm pretty sure someone like the Pats or Giants will take him or the Skins are going to pass on him.

I got Morris, Williams, III, Fletch, and maybe a 5th guy ( Rak, Kerrigan)

Rak won't make it. I guarantee you that. I think we got 3 guys. Morris, if he makes it, it'll be early, like the 90s range.

Big Trent makes the list at #99. Nice set of highlights on him. Dude really has become a baller. Nice job big man.

Started at 8. Really nice to see Trent making it. This is a small accolade in his path of turning his career around.

CultBrennan59 04-27-2013 09:06 PM

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

Yep Trent Williams came in at 99, and Richard Sherman spoke through most of it. I would have put Trent in the 80s, but he's an OLineman and not exactly a Joe Thomas, Johnathan Ogden type in terms of well known by football fans throughout the league, so its understandable he'd end up in the 90s.

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

I mean I'm assuming all players do, but Trent seemed to really enjoy playing with RGIII I bet that the team now has a future he works harder to become elite

They hinted to Morris makin the list while they were talking about MJD being in the 90s. They said he was the 12th out of 12 RBs.

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

I think Morris makes it. RG3 too of course. London maybe.

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

Alf, Bob and Trent. London won't make it. Every time I think about how criminally underrated he has been in his career I die a little. He's a legit HOFer if you look at his numbers. He is finally slipping but geez he's old now.

CultBrennan59 05-03-2013 02:01 AM

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

Well looks like London did make it after all. He actually got a higher ranking than he did last year, despite not playing as well as last year (particularly in tackling). He went from 87 last year to 86. It's an improvement none the less

donofriose 05-03-2013 08:28 AM

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

Surprised that London got a higher rating than Trent Williams. Also surprised how low Cameron Wake is. Man just had 15 sacks, destroyed Tom Brady and was ranked lower than Pollard.

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

The list is pretty much a joke.

Example

NFL players think Jacoby Jones is better than Percy Harvin | ProFootballTalk

It's something to watch & discuss until real football starts again, just don't take it too seriously. The players that vote obviously don't.

well, keep in mind Jacoby played a whole season, Harvin played only 9 games. And people have in their mind Jacobys post season, instead of Harvins earlier regular season plays.

Would you take Jones over Harvin? C'mon.

Nope, but last year I would have. Cameron Wake who in my opinion is the best or one of the top 3 pass rushers in the NFL came in behind London. He's top 25 in my book. And Cam Newton should NOT be on the list. (supposedly a lot of players hate him)

Just because you play in the NFL doesn't mean you know how to evaluate talent.

I work in my office but by no means am I a recruiter for my office.

Sure, but you're using the benefit of hindsight. I'm asking straight up, who is the better player?

Wake was definitely way too low.

The list is basically a big popularity contest. And considering the players only submit their top 20, it would be interesting to know how NFLN comes up with a top 100 based off that.

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

Harvin played in 54 career games and scored 29 touchdowns.

His maturity/WR diva issues go back to when he was being recruited here in Va in to go to college. Some of it is legendary. Its not a new issue. If he can ever get his head/attitude right he has the ability to be MVP of the league. This is not embelishment.

Is this list about talent or is it about what type of year they had? What do they tell the players before they vote?
Alfred Morris who went from being a nobody to the #2 leading rusher in the NFL obviously moves in and up.
But on the opposite side of the spectrum Orakpo who when healthy is top 10 OLB and and incredibly talented player, but he has been injured that last two years.
I do respect this list more then the Probowl where fans vote. Being voted in by your peers is much better measure of respect then being voted in by a 10 year old on his computer voting 1000 times.

i always loved the clip in the beginning when he punks Sherman hes all hot headed after RG3 got hurt.. all the emotion n lost. hes been voted underrated which is cool and he definetly is and thats still cracking the top 100

I couldn't help but laugh at how coincidental it is that Bernard Pollard always injures a patriot (Brady in '08, Welker in '09, Gronkowski '11, Ridely '12).

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

So whom do the Redskins have left for the Top 100? I figure Alfred Morris and RG3 are in there some where, with RG3 maybe as high as the top 15 at least. Alfred may also be top 15 as well. With London hitting 86th, I don't figure any more Defensive guys from the Skins made it. Maybe Kerrigan, but I doubt it.

rookies making the top 15 would be hard. RGIII, yeah. Alfmo, probably not.
Griff at 25 is about right. Has luck shown up yet?
Nope. I would expect Luck this week and Wilson next week and I agree with RG3 being in the top 25. Players love, know and respect him and his game. Also if Morris gets in, I would expect it this week since Trent Richardson was last week and Doug Martin was being teased as this weeks candidate to be on the show.

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

Also random question: is Cam Newton a top 100 player? I'm not sure because if this list is voted by the players, I feel like he either would have been on or he won't be on since a lot of players hate him.

scowan 05-14-2013 03:26 PM

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

Griffin at 25? I think he will be a little higher. I originally said top 15, but maybe you guys are adjusting my expectations, but surely top 20. There can't be 19 other guys that meant as much to their team as he did to his. AND I know Alfred Morris was a rookie, but he was number 2 in rushing yardage and number 2 in TDs.
