2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
So the NBA draft is on tonight.
Cavs have the number 1 pick, Orlando have number 2 and the Wiz pick 3rd. Lots of people think either Noel or Len goes 1 and either Maclemore or Oladipo goes 2 leaving the Wiz to pick either Otto Porter or Anthony Bennett. Thoughts? I'd go with Bennett over Porter since Bennett has always produced. Porter would disappear come tournament time (Big East and NCAA) |
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Try to trade. This class sucks.
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Between Bennett and Porter I'm torn. I think Bennett could be very boom or bust. Porter is the "safer" of the two but what's his upside.
As recently as Tuesday I heard a pretty high ranking Wizards official say the goal was to trade the pick. Not sure if that's still the case, or still an option. I kind of liked the Deng rumor, but only if we could lock him in long term |

Porter is a safe pick. Ernie needs a safe pick. He's a terrible drafter. Take Porter. |

What don't you like about Deng? |
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
OKC has 3 picks , I'd like to see a big man drafted .
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Wonder if Bosh gets traded for a guy like Nerlens Noel or Alex Len?
What don't you like about Deng?
He's gonna wanna get paid and I dont think he is a good value. I dont think he's a difference maker. I think you look at Chicago and outside of Rose, the biggest difference maker is Noah. Deng is gonna want to get paid like the 1st or 2nd best player on the team. Some nights he's the 4th/5th option on the bulls. And do you see Deng wanting to be in Washington. I think he would be 1 and done. I see Potter being just as effective. I think he can develop into a better player. I agree with your assumption of Bennett. |
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Best case scenario tonight is either trade for an Aldridge type impact player or draft Potter and then Jeff Withey slides to us as a back up defensive Center in the 2nd.

lolololololololol you cant make this stuff up. lolololololol |
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Wow, Bennett first pick. Cavs throwing the curve ball two drafts in a row.
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
I wanted Porter, but I'd take Noel now that he's available. Will be happy with either.
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Otto it is. I'm on board.
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
So much for all those kids projecting Nerlens Noel going 1st.
Need the Hornets/Bobcats to pick up McLemore. They need a scorer bad. |
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Cody Zeller? Are you kidding me? Michael Jordan absolutely blows as a GM/Owner.
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Alex Lin goes before Mclemore and Noel? lol wow
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Pelicans getting Holiday is hugggggge. Great move, Holiday has gotten better and better
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
I like Chad Ford's analysis on the Bobcat's pick of Zeller:
"Once again I think the Bobcats have blown it." |
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Pelicans bwawhahaha sorry I'm gonna laugh every time I see that logo.

Solid pick I'm not really understanding the Sixers getting Noel when they have Bynum Trey Burke to Utah is a nice move |
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
So KG approves Nets trade
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Terry, Garnett, and Pierce for 1st rounders in 14, 16, 18, Gerald Wallace, Reggie Evans, Keith Bogans
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
No pressure J Kidd
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
F'n Zeller? Wtf? I feel like MJ is trying to punk Daniel Stern. That's a worse pick than when Bowie got taken before him.
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
So to summarize, the wizards came into tonight with three picks but after a trade with Philly the wizards draft is
Otto Porter Glenn Rice Jr. |
Solid pick
I'm not really understanding the Sixers getting Noel when they have Bynum Trey Burke to Utah is a nice move
I guess Bynum is still somewhat of a question mark. The fact they got an extra first next year (in addition to Noel) is a solid come up. Without Holiday, you figure Sixers are tanking hard next season in what's going to be a great draft. They'll have their own lottery pick (barring some miracle where they actually make the playoffs) and a late first in a strong draft. Agreed on Utah- they've found their court general. In the same trade, Minny did the best they could once Detroit scooped Caldwell-Pope right before their pick. They got the wing scorer needed in Muhammed and Dieng, whose tenacious D (not Jack Black) complements Love's offense down low. |
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Well that's what I mean. You've already got one 7 footer with a bad knee, so why add another?
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Weird draft. It's more fun when the talent is such that everyone is scrambling all at once.
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Good move by Ernnie to get Glen Rice Jr. Really nice move.
Folks the teams has really nice young talent. Sux Ariza opted in. But I expect playoffs this year. |

But I expect playoffs this year.
Would have been great to see Glen Rice Jr and Tim Hardaway Jr get picked by the same team...would be like watching a game in the 90s. :D Nerlins to Nawlins. I'm a Bulls fan and excited about Tony Snell. He seems to be a Durant-type player, tall and long arms and can hit shots from anywhere. 40% shooter and 47% on pull-up jumpers in college. Solid pick. Their other pick Erik Murphy is no one exciting. Don't understand that one...they're already stocked up at PF, but he can apparently shoot well from the outside as a big man. The Bullets (my second-favorite team) had two GREAT picks with Porter and Rice. If Wall stays healthy, they could be a contender for a playoff spot. Future looking bright. I understand Boston moving away from their "Big 3" days by getting rid of the final two in KG and PP, but they got a ton of old guys back along with the draft picks. They're now locked in to a long-term rebulid and have thrown in the towel for this year already. It makes even less sense for Brooklyn. They unloaded some mediocre vets and picked up two guys at the ends of their career in return...along with losing their draft picks for 3 years. I guess the Nets are going to try to go all in and win this year with no plans for the future. Could work. They'll have a solid roster but it won't last long. |
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
NBA is not my favorite sport to watch, I'll watch a college basketball game over an NBA game any day of the week. (Except come conference finals and NBA finals time)
I feel like NBA drafts of recent have been similar to this past years NFL draft. Theres a lot of drafts that your lucky if you get a future top 20 NBA player out of it. Its very rare that we get a Durant, LeBron, Wade, Carmelo caliber players. Supposedly next year this Wiggins and the Randle guy and the two brothers going to Kentucky, are supposed to be the next 03 class of players. We'll see. I've watch some of Wiggins highlight tape and saw another Michael Kidd Gilcrest. |

They need some of their other young guys like Singleton and Seraphin to become decent pieces but a starting 5 with Beal, Wall, Porter, Nene, and Okafor should hold teams near 90 almost every night. |

Ah, gotcha... Yeah, it seems Philly is throwing caution to the wind with the center position. |

Because Bynum is a free agent and they aren't going to re-sign him. I seriously doubt Bynum ever plays again with that knee damage. |

Incredible reaction by bobcats fans at the official draft party in charlotte. They are so pissed its hilarious. MJ is a horrible exec. |

This guy's stats have dropped over the four years he's been in the league. WTH are they thinking? |

Yeah I totally forgot he's an FA Meanwhile, Eric Maynor to the Wizards. Decent move but I think some people have "local kid" goggles on when it comes to him Jamison possibly returning is interesting |
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
MAynor is a good upgrade at backup PG. Better than AJ Price
|
Re: 2013 NBA Offseason/Draft
Mos def like the Maynor move, SS are you saying Maynor is fugly?
I wouldnt mind the Jamison move, we need to strengthen the bench. Adding a high character vet is nothing but a plus. Just worried at his age having to play serious minutes if Nene or Okafor went down. Jamison starting wouldnt be a good look. |
