Let's talk about the matchup, predictions, etc. right here. Hard to believe we're 6 days away now. |

The Redskins named their captains Monday, with two each on offense and defense. The offensive captains: quarterback Robert Griffin III and left tackle Trent Williams. The defensive captains: linebacker London Fletcher and nose tackle Barry Cofield. Also, they named Doughty as the special teams captain Monday. After eight games, they will add a third captain to both the offense and defense and will name a permanent special teams captain. |

Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
Redskins 45- eagles 17
Eagles and skins score fast early, redskins make the necessary adjustments. Eagles can't stop Alfred Morris who runs for 146 yards and 2 TDs. Jordan Reed, Fred Davis, Morgan and Garçon also see the endzone. Defense gets to Vick 3 times. Hall gets a pick. Rambo gets picked on early. Hopefully adjusts come later in the game. |
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
Skins 31
Eagles 10 I expect several Eagles to experience "welcome to the NFL" moments. |
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
The biggest one being Chip Kelly.
|
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
Up until now, I haven't considered the eagle game to be a big test. I'm starting to buy into that Chip Kelly's direction will open up the eagles offense more in comparison to AReid.
Even if it was preseason, Philly led the league in up tempo plays per game and was 3rd in yardage. Lacking Merriweather doesnt help improve the secondary even if Rak is back. The eagles have a formidable OL which hopefully doesnt neutralize our rush. I think reed and a rookie in Rambo starting may be difficult if we don't get a cushiony amount of points early. I think the plus side for us aside from home field is that Phillys defense is transitioning and returning only 6 starters. I don't see many teams able to shut down the skins rushing at FedEx. And if we get rolling and eating clock, what good is an eagle up tempo offense at the detriment of their tired defense? I think we figure it out by the half and take away their passing game. Plus the skins are way more solid of a team, and are better on both sides of the ball. Idk if its nervousness of not knowing Chip Kelly or our secondary woes, but I'm feeling a close game perhaps skins 25 eagles 20 |
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
Redskins 35 Eagles 17
I do think Griffin will be a bit rusty coming out the gate, which means the game will be close in the first half. But I see him settling down in the second half and the 'skins pulling away. |
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
Skins are gonna run them out of the building
Skins 34 Eagles 13 |
Redskins 31
Eagles 20 This one will be close all the way through. If we can contain McCoy and make Vick beat us then this one gets ugly pretty fast. Defense will have to play well in this one for us to grab a W. I still have nightmares of that ass whooping Vick gave us two years ago! |

What the...? This Redskins team could score 10 points in their sleep! You got to get your mind right. Redskins 30, Buzzards 20. |
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
I'm soooooo excited this week is finally here. I'm hoping the Skins take a gigantic dump on the Sheagles. I'm unleashing the dragon Rex style on this.
Redskins - 34 Eagles- 17 |
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
I love the Redskin's scores you guys are posting. I remember the days when the Skins could not score 20 points a game. I think their ability to score 30 in any given game, helps them soooo much more now. Even if the Skins have some trouble on Defense, most teams can't score 30 and our team can.
Redskins 31 Eagles 20 I think Griffin runs some early just to scare the bejesus out of the whole NFL and especially the Eagles early. |

So much confidence we shall see.
I pray it is a Skins blow out but my mind and cynical feelings towards this team have me believing we lose. |

I pray it is a Skins blow out but my mind and cynical feelings towards this team have me believing we lose.
Time to get over that losing feeling. We're 11-1 over the last 12 games counting playoffs and preseason. Hop on board son. No way you give Shanahan this much time to prepare for a game and they lose to a rookie HC with Vick at QB. C'mon now. |
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
I think I'm a bit more nervous than most, but I'm pretty confident. I could see Philadelphia getting off to a quick start. Watching them in preseason a little bit, I did like their tempo, and think that really could pose big problems if they can get rolling...
That said, the talent differential is just too much for me. Unless we turn the ball over a ton or RG3 is slow out of the gate, I still see a solid win. 27-20 (late Eagles TD to make it closer). |
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
they wont stop us much, if at all i feel like..
if mccoy gets going it could be rough i wanna see swarming and crisp tackling. but i can see beside a couple quick vick releases our dline crushing him. man i want week 1 this year. lets get this done. |

Bob will be fine this year. Elli-May won't be so lucky. Aside from the first troll post prediction in this thread, I agree with everyone...the Eagles have no chance. Their D has looked atrocious this preseason and they're trying to convert to a new system with mediocre players. The offensive line has their own wing in the local hospital. They have ONE WR who isn't one they can count on for 16 games. On the other sideline, our offense is improved with injured players like Davis, Helu and hopefully having Garcon all year. Our defense is worlds better in terms of depth (especially at LB) and at least a competent secondary now being fielded. We had a horrible defense last season and still crushed this team. I'm calling 42-16. Even the Philly media knows their D is in trouble: New faces, new system, but is Eagles' D better? | Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia
Both starting cornerbacks and one of the starting safeties are new. Two of the outside linebackers used to be defensive ends and another is in his first year here. Both nose tackles and a couple defensive ends? New here. Two backup inside linebackers? New here as well. When the Eagles cut the roster from 75 to 53 over the past couple days, it continued the overhaul of the defense that began soon after Chip Kelly took over for Andy Reid. Gone from last year’s moribund unit are eight players that started at least one game and 17 guys who got on the field on the defensive side of the ball. Added to this year’s defense are 12 new names, including five projected starters. The Eagles are certainly different on defense. But are they better? The secondary is stocked with players who were unwanted with their previous team and a holdover who’s been benched the last two years. The linebacker position includes two converted defensive ends who’ve never played in a 3-4, a big-money free agent coming off a disappointing season, two unheralded newcomers and Casey Matthews, of all people. Up front is a nose tackle coming off an ineffective preseason, a defensive end who’s never started an NFL game and a bunch of promising but untested young linemen. There’s one Pro Bowl guy on the defense, and that’s Trent Cole, and he’s four years removed from his last Pro Bowl. And it came at a different position four defensive coordinators ago. The first five quarterbacks the Eagles face this year are Robert Griffin III, Philip Rivers, Alex Smith, Peyton Manning and Eli Manning. Other than all that, the Eagles’ defense is ready to go.
|

Only to have us pick him and make that same transition and find out that he can be pretty good at it. |

Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
44-17, Redskins. RG3 completes 18 of 24 passes for 284 yards and 2 touchdowns. He runs for 45 yards and another TD. Fred Davis hauls in 8 of RG3's passes for 97 yards and a TD. Alfred Morris has 148 yards rushing with a TD of his own. Brian Orakpo picks off a pass and returns it 20+ yards for a TD. Kai Forbath hits 3 of 3 field goals with a long of 50. Game over.
|
I think it'll be closer than some.think, skins will.win it in the 4th but I'm.going with 28-20
Griffin has 2 td passes and 250 yards passing. Morris has 2 rushing tds and 100 yards rushing. I think Philadelphia comes out with a opening drive td |
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
Washington 38
Philadelphia 20 I think the Eagles score on their first two possessions and everyone gets excited and then we drop the clamps on them and their offense resembles what it did last year. They have two weapons, Jackson and McCoy. Make them one dimensional and it's a wrap. Griffin shows a mix of greatness and rust, about 250, 2 TD with an INT. Morris runs for about 140, 2 TD and we get a defensive TD.. Nice way to start the season and put the offseason stink behind us. |
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
The Skins O sputters a bit at first while RG3 gets up to game speed but it all works out in the end.
Skins 24 Phil 17 |
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
Redskins 35 - Eagles 9
'Flagfest 2014' due to an overzealous, punchy, rabid Eagles D. |
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
I really expect 200 yards rushing from us...Outside of RG3 playing, I cant wait to see our pass rush and see what the rotation of Tapp, Jenkins bring to the field.

Don't you mean Ryan Kerrigan? I think you have your OLBs confused. Kerrigan is the "pick you off go for a TD" LB. I don't think Orakpo has even one INT in all his time here. |

Sure...we can hope! Don't have high school stats for 'Rak but he's never had an INT in college or pros. :D Brian Orakpo Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com |
Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1
RGIII enters with a chip on his shoulder to show those naysayers about his health that it will take more than separating his leg from his body (almost) to keep him from opening a can of whoopass.
Redskins 34, Eagles 13 -- RGIII 2 passing TDs, 1 rushing TD, Alfmo adds one on the ground (along with 108 yards) and Amerson gets a pick 6; Cobra Kai with two FGs, including one from 53 yards. Vick knocked out courtesy of the Kerrakpo sandwich. Foles engineers some pretty solid drives, but his 2 picks (one returned by Amerson for 6) seal the Iggles fate. |
