Season seems so long after the partial lockout last year, but glad to have the puck back in my life. Although I am not sure I like the style of play Oates has the Caps running right now...a little more D would be nice!

I also like the new divisional alignment. I was sick and tired of the south division champ coasting into playoffs in a weak division and getting their butts handed to them each year.

Agreed on the divisional realignment. Adds more meaning to the rivalries... but definitely going to be a bit tougher road to the playoffs.

This years team I'm unsure on. Our defense is still suspect... so we need to ask our goalies to step up yet again and play well enough to steal some games.

I've already been to a game this year, and it was a great time. Excited for another season.

Lets go Flyers! Beat those caps!

I'm disappointed in our moves we made at the trade deadline. Ignoring our lack of d is going to be the downfall of McPhee. Goaltending hasn't been great but that's usually the case when your d hangs the goalie out to dry. If we can't beat an 8 seed like Philly we don't deserve to make the playoffs. Playoffs mean nothing when you never advance anyway. Maybe if we miss them this year we can restructure the organization around someone who places the same emphasis on defense that they do on the forwards.

Couldn't agree more. That game last night was atrocious to watch. Our Defense just flat out sucks. Upgrade our goalie? Are you kidding me? What a joke.

Team isn't going anywhere until we regain some fundamentals on defense.

Yep. Joke of a game to watch, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's how we play for the rest of the season. The window is closing. We should have gotten rid of Mike Green while he was still worth something. I like Oates but if he's part of the problem he needs to go too. It definitely starts with gmgm though.

I'm looking forward to watching Kutz's debut for the Caps tonight. Four years in the making, he might be our only bright spot in this dismal season.

Very good start to his career especially the game against Vancouver. It is evident watching the flyers-pens series this weekend that the caps are not a playoff caliber team

Typical Caps last night, 3-1 lead going into the 3 and the Kings score 4 goals game goes to OT and the Caps lose. Smh. Scary injury though, Hillen was coming across the middle and ran into a Russian freight train. Hope he's ok, he was down on the ice with no movement for at least 10 seconds.

I was beginning to say "typical Flyers hockey", they go on a nice run taking down the pens twice, blackhawks, blues - than what? They lay two eggs against the Kings and Rangers. I have been a fan since 1979, and I swear to God the team is either afraid of, or allergic to - success. They bounced back nice against Toronto last night. It is so tight rite now in the Eastern playoff race.
Hey maybe the Caps can atleast tire the Bruins out before we have to play them tomorrow!

Boston is so good. Im hoping the Flyers can beat the filthy rangers, but it doesnt really matter because nobody is beating Boston.

As a Bruins fan I am very afraid of the Canadians. They beat us 3 out of 4 in the regular season and they blew past the Lighting.

I think if the flyers beat the rangers we get Montreal in the second round. I would be thrilled to not have to face Boston until the conference finals.
Of course I would be thrilled just to win tonite though. Lol

Last night they said winner of DET/BOS plays MON.

Thats rite. We get pitt/columbus winner. I knew montreal didnt sound rite. That doesnt even seem fair that bos vs mon would be a second rd matchup.

I couldn't believe how the Ducks came back last night. Crazy empty net goal to send it into OT where they won 5-4. 3-1 at the end of the 1st period. In fact Dallas was comfortably ahead 4-2 for most of the 3rd period. I think they scored the 3rd goal with 2 minutes left then got the game tying goal with ~20 seconds left. Even though I felt like letting BB go was the right decision I've been rooting for him ever since he took over in Anaheim.

As for the Caps is anyone else scared by the Gretzky as GM rumors?

Granted this pic taken was back in November but apparently Gretzky wants back in and then of course there's the news earlier this month that his LA mansion is currently on the market for $10.5 million.

Also slight confession time. I think I'm enjoying watching the playoffs this year more than past years with the Caps not in it. Its nice not having my nerves run through the ringer every other night for 3 hours. Coincidentally the NBA Playoffs which had been a relaxing past time of mine for years are now a source of great anxiety for me.

I have been miserable enough since 1975 without comments from the peanut gallery! Thank you! I always have that historic down 3 games against your Bruins to make me feel alittle better. :)

waht was even more awful about that game was we were up 3-0 in game seven I think into the 3rd period. I blocked alot of it out.

Seems like a solid hire though. He says the personnel dictates his system so hopefully he can adjust to the more offensive centric Capitals and at the same time get Holtby back on track.

So... GMBM. What a terrible "debut." Lets Grabo walk because he's "too expensive," then signs 87 year-old Orpik to a $27.5M deal that shocked everyone, even Brooks himself. Better, younger defensemen got lesser deals and terms.

If I hadn't already given up my season tickets for the move to Houston, this might be enough to do it. Ugh.
