Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
New Thread Time
Again, poll is public In this rounds we are only selecting candidates the Redskins are officially interviewing (at this time) |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
From this list either Bevell or Fewell. My dream pick Shaw. Joey T. said some interesting things today:

Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Caldwell , He has had great success as Coach and Cord. I do not know enough about some of the others . I would like Allen to interview Wisenhunt .
|
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
From this list I would take Bevell... But if I had my choice, the top 3 would be David Shaw, Jay Gruden and Mike Zimmer in no particular order...
|
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I chose Caldwell. I just think an Offensive Coach would be best. Someone recently made the good point that the best Offensive minds are coordinators already, so getting a Defensive minded coach and a good O coordinator to supplement would be difficult.

Theismann went on to say that the team’s next offensive coordinator is more important to RGIII than the next head coach. “It’s hard to say who the perfect coach is gonna be, because I think it’s more about the coordinator than the coach,” Theismann said. “I really feel like you have to have the right kind of coordinator for the system on offense and Jay Gruden is a guy that I had an association with in the NFL down in Orlando, who I think did a terrific job as an offensive coordinator. Greg Roman out in San Francisco has had Colin Kaepernick. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Fewell - a leader of a team rather than just a unit?
Caldwell - ok. Kinda meh. Bevell - an attractive choice about whom unflattering words were posted here yesterday McDermott - my current choice due to the positive buzz about his leadership abilities Of course, Jay Gruden and Mike Zimmer could not be chosen. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Bevell. I like the offense they run in Seattle. It's a good fit for RGIII.
|
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Any chance Pete Carmichael might be considered?
|
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Caldwell from this list. The others haven't earned it and shouldn't be serious HC candidates IMO. There's too many guys with HC experience who've also been more successful coordinators: Whisenhunt, Williams, Caldwell.

Good coach but I don't think the temperament of a headcoach, looks like a dorky kid. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Not sure I want any of these guys. Bevell? Eh..Not sure he's a true leader. McDermott is doing a real nice job in Carolina but again...can he lead an organization? Caldwell does nothing for me. Baltimore's offense was garbage and predictable and he definitely doesn't seem like a leader. Fewell seems like an interesting no nonsense guy. But my number one hire is Gregg Williams. He's exactly what our team/organization needs.

So did Gibbs kinda though . . . Didn't he? |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I can't ever support the hiring of Caldwell... I have seen way too many Wake Forest games to ever pick him as the HC... Quite honestly, this list is very underwhelming...

(Silently nodding) Couldn't agree more. Basicslly hoping nobody else takes the job, Danny balks, etc etc and at the end of it all Williams is there waiting. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I heard today that Bruce Allen said that they had already met with more than those coaches that have been mentioned, but that he's not telling who.
|
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Out of this list I like Bevell first, McDermott a close second. As much as I dislike Pete Carroll, the Seattle organization has made the kind of change I would like us to take for a next step, and Bevell's experience there might be a good transition for here. The fact that he would build a similar offense to what we have pieces for is a good fit as well.
McDermott, I like him as a guy who could track the defense and bring in a strong OC, but his hire would definitely hinge on who he wants as an OC in my mind. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Many think Bevell is a good coach, but doesn't have the personality to be a good HC... Caldwell, while he had success at Indy and Baltimore, I could never vote for him being a Wake Forest football fan.... McDermott I'm not sure about, the guy has about the best front 7 in football, and a good defensive minded HC... How much of the Panthers defensive success is on him? Last is Fewell... I think he is a rather pedestrian candidate and would not have warm fuzzies if we hired him....
I hope this list expands and improves, or the future will look bleak IMO... |

Not even close. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I'll vote when the list expands more. Right now I'm totally meh on these choices.

Agreed 100%... This is such an underwhelming list, it's hard to be excited about the future if it doesn't improve and grow... I want David Shaw, Mike Zimmer or Jay Gruden, in no particular order... I would be extremely happy with any of those guys... |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I did feel much better after listening to Bruce A regarding the Shanahan firing and how the coach search would take place.......not necessarily quick, but thorough.
Soooo, my confidence goes with BA and staff |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I won't vote on this list, basically just like Matty I wouldn't be thrilled for any of these four.
Two names I am interested in as HCing candidates are Del Rio and G Williams. I see them as motivators, leaders and both have long standing positive defensive results. I agree with Thiesman in that the OC is more important in working with the kid in the long run. |

Yes, and there are more to come. And there are some strong names on that list (in my opinion at least), one of whom I believe will be our next head coach From this list though, I'd take Fewell |

If there is mutual interest, I think he'd be a strong candidate. Isn't Bounty-Gate too much baggage for Gregg Williams to overcome? Also, he didn't leave here on good terms, as I recall. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I badly want the Bengals to lose this weekend so that Mike Zimmer, Jay Gruden, and Hue Jackson become free to interview.

I think SD will pull the upset. |

He's one of the favorites, is all I believe I said

Win or lose they can interview on Monday. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Smoot, I know it's still really early and so this probably means nothing at this point in time but if you had to answer, do you think we will take one of these current coordinators in the NFL or will we go with a current college coach?
|

Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
As for this poll, if i had to choose one of the above it would be Sean McDermott. If he were to bring a good OC with him i think he could be a great leader. Seems as though he knows how to crack that whip and that's what this team needs right now.

Good question. Really good question. Um, I'd probably say current NFL coach |

Smoot, do you think it will be an offensive or defensive coach?

Very interesting. Thanks for answering! |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
I'll wait till you add Jay Gruden to the list after we've interviewed him. Him O'brien were probably my favorites for the job, with Shaw being a strong candidate as well. Hell, I even like Smoot's choice for the Cowboys ST coach.
|
Smoot, do you think it will be an offensive or defensive coach?
Special Teams Kidding, I think the favorites are all offensive coaches so I guess I'd have to lean that way |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
In this list Bevell over Fewell, too good of a fit for RG3 and Alfmo in his offense to pass up. Can he lead is the question.
