Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
In a horribly snide and over-the-top hateful column in today's Washington Post, Sally Jenkins goes out of her way to bash RGIII, Dan Snyder, and the Redskins. Here is the opening paragraph:
"Previous Washington Redskins coaches only had to deal with one divisive influence at the top of the franchise. Now there are two. The next head coach will have to cope not just with owner-supremo Daniel Snyder’s interference, but with the added complication of a 23-year-old boy emperor who believes he can dictate everything from the play-calling to what’s served at training table. You don’t like eggs? Take it up with Robert Griffin III." Fire away! |
Re: Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
More like Shanahan strikes again.
Pure garbage. |
Dan must have hit it and quit it or something
|
Re: Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
Why does she live in NYC, but write about Washington sports?
|
Re: Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
Yet somehow Griffin couldn't keep himself from getting benched
|
Re: Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
She didnt say anything that hasnt been reported over and over. The interesting thing is that nobody has disputed he claims.

Re: Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
When was the last time, if ever, that Sally Jenkins has been at Redskins Park? Does she even go to the games? All that needs to be said about her coverage of the Redskins is that Jenkins was probably the first pundit to go all in on the Zorn regime: Sally Jenkins - First-Class at Coach
It's clear as day that the Shanahan camp is feeding her this latest drivel to discredit Griffin. |
Skip is such a tool lmao " I gotta say this just tears me apart to hear that RG3 would do this" haha sorry I didnt know Griff went off and killed people like AH did. Smh what a joke

Nationally they will eat this up all day everyday. This is what feeds the media beast. Our hope among hopes is that RG III goes back to being straight awesome next year. If he can rebound with a third year al a Cam Newton all will be forgotten. |

You also notice that nobody has substantiated them, right? If these were legitimate claims then she would have quotes, dates, specific interactions, etc. rather than the one sided, clearly agendized statements from a 'source'. C'mon, you have to be smarter than to just buy this stuff lock, stock and barrel, right? |

Re: Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
I could find an unconfirmed source that says RG3 has a third buttcheek... I don't think it should show up in a column in the post though.

Re: Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
Jamie Dukes @jamiedukes 53m
The mistruths are starting to get out of hand in DC. I've had my opinion on RG3 talking too much but I believe folks are telling lies... Jamie Dukes @jamiedukes 51m I saw a report where some "UNNAMED". Source said that RG3 bragged about being able to manipulate the owner... Jamie Dukes @jamiedukes 50m So let's walk thru this… If it were true and i don't believe it is… Who would tell anyone that. Jamie Dukes @jamiedukes 48m This to me is another example of someone with an agenda making up a story because in today's media, you don't have to confirm sources. |

Unless Shanny fed it to them. Then they run with it. |
Re: Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
None of us really know what's true and what isn't. I tend to believe that RG3 got a big head after 12, felt a bit entitled, like a lot of people in their early 20's would have. We found out he's a little immature in some areas, and not as polished as advertised. 12 and 13 is over with. He's been humbled. Enough already. Let's get the new guy in here and move forward.

Hear hear. I think everyone can agree that RG3 has a huge ego, but I can't help but think this year and this circus has humbled him. People need to let it go. |

C'mon, you have to be smarter than to just buy this stuff lock, stock and barrel, right?
The food stuff I dont really buy but there is no denying his rift with the WRs especially when RG always refered to Garcon as "the receiver". I was also surprised to almost never see him getting helped up by lineman so something might be going on there. Is RG a diva, yes. Does he have a huge personality, yes. Does he get treated differently that the average player on the team, yes. I dont have a problem with any of this. The easiest way for him to make this all go away is to win. If he plays as bad in 2014 as he did in 2013 then this year's media blather about him will seem like a mouse fart compared to what we will see at this time next year. |

I agree with you except for the fact that we dont know if he's been humbled. |

Apparently not man |
Re: Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
I am sick of all the RGIII has a huge ego stuff. Says who? Nothing I have seen from him seems terribly out of step with any other stuff we get from league QBs. Moreover, we WANT our starting Qb to have some ego, some attitude. You don't think Peyton, Brady, or other elite QBs don't have healthy self images? If they didn't, they wouldn't demand the ball, think that they could go forth an conquer, and dominate opponents. I want a QB that wakes up every day thinking about an opponent, "I own their shit."
Moreover, I haven't heard any player on the team actually say that RGIII was a problem or even suggest as much. (And don't tell me about the Moss quote -- he later said that he meant everyone needed to take individual responsibility, and was clear he wasn't singling out any individual players who weren't.) Could he have handled press conferences about his injury, return, playcalling, etc. better? Sure. I defy anyone -- ANYONE -- to say credibly that he or she would do better at 23 years old facing all the pressure RGIII has faced. If 2013 had been a winning season for us, none of this crap would be troweled out in the "media" (Sally doesn't count -- she creates, at best, opinion pieces that are typically laughably devoid of fact; she lost me about 20 years ago when she wrote a piece about the Sydney, Australia olympics and roundly bashed that country -- trust me, if you've been there, you know it's a remarkable place.) But back to my point, if the Colts had tanked this season and Luck was forced to face the cameras and justify his very existence, do you think he'd handle it materially better than RGIII? Sally needs to just come clean that she's a Cowboys fan and stop imposing her drivel in us all, most of which could have been created by a bunch of drunk chimps randomly swatting at a keyboard. But then again, that's just my opinion. |
Re: Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
Sources or quotes? No? Wont bother reading it.
I agree with you except for the fact that we dont know if he's been humbled.
We also have no idea if he needed to be humbled in the first place. The unemployed former head coach's standard for player input on decisions is not the industry standard.
All criticisms of Robert Griffin the person as it pertains to his employment as QB of the Redskins were invalidated the moment Mike Shanahan was fired. New boss = new standard. |

I agree. If there is one thing I don't want in a QB it's humility. I like my QB to be downright cocky. I don't mind a bit if he's so demanding of his teammates that they are uncomfortable with it. My ideal Redskins QB would be supremely confident, uber-competitive, and intolerant of poor play by anybody on the team. He would not be able to stand losing. Women would say "he's stuck-up" and men would think that he's a prick. I wouldn't want to hang out with him. |

Just because Shanny is gone doesnt invalidate anything for me but I agree that new coach=new standard. |

BTW, his teammates, who he has offended, alienated, disrespected, big timed and everything else that Sally and Shanny want you to believe, voted him as the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award for this season. What an ass. |
Re: Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
I think it's crazy to think that the stuff that comes out about RG3 is 100% not true. Some of this stuff is true. But it's annoying that every week something else comes out. The season is over. Time for everyone to move on.
|
Re: Sally Jenkins Strikes Again!
This story is all over the media now where it is generally perceived to be true. Now the "party line" is that RGIII needs to grow up and become a better teammate.
RGIII, Dan Snyder, and the Redskins get trashed. Bitch gets her name in the press all over the country. Things seem to have worked out just the way she hoped. Who's the diva, here? |
