2014 Pro Bowl Thread

If you are one of the other 5 people in America besides me watching this game, join me!

Lets start this off by me saying how ugly I think the uniforms are. Who thought gray would be a good idea for a uniform color?

Also go team Sanders, I believe all our players are playing on that team.

Also if the effort is underwhelming I probably won't be watching for long lol.

That bright orange and especially that awful bright yellow are burning my eyes. I still can't understand how Nike or anyone else can think those colors are a good idea.

skinsfaninok 01-26-2014 08:21 PM

I'm watching from Houston due to work unfortunately, with a 65 year old stranger that walked around in his tighty whities earlier fml

At least his undies aren't that godawful yellow lol.

I think the effort is actually improved this year. Watching Johnson blow up Charles was pretty hilarious.

Re: 2014 Pro Bowl Thread

^ Yeah, it is still kinda lame in terms of hitting but it is better than in recent years.

skinsfaninok 01-26-2014 08:57 PM

It's an ok game, hate seeing ALF fumble

Lotus 01-26-2014 09:09 PM

Re: 2014 Pro Bowl Thread

The play names for the Rice team are about three words long. The play names for the Sanders team are about a paragraph long.

Re: 2014 Pro Bowl Thread

Well the effort level is up, so something's working. Sucks to see Alfmo fumble, I hope our new running backs coach can work some Tiki Barber magic on him, I really don't want to see this become a problem. Both teams uniforms are an eyesore, gray and lime green is a hideous uniform combo and white on orange isn't much better. I'm so glad all of our players are on the same team, I really wouldn't want to see Rak go hard on Morris the way Derrick Johnson did to Jamaal Charles.

Looks like RAK didn't get the memo about playing hard.
At least Trent is holding his own against these guys.

mooby 01-26-2014 10:10 PM

Does rak even have a tackle? Haven't seen anything out of him on d.

Lotus 01-26-2014 10:12 PM

Rak is just making them complacent so that he can dominate the last 20 seconds of the game.

Trent has done a very good job against these guys.

Gonna spend the next 20 mins of my life trying to answer the question "was Alex Smith good this year?" Weigh in to save me time.

That was actually an entertaining game.

man Rak did not finish the game well. he had a chance to make two plays to win the game and ended up tacking both guys in the endzone.

skinsfaninok 01-26-2014 10:57 PM

Foles should never speak in public again lol.

It's true, although I was disappointed Rak was involved in letting Team Rice get the game winning td and 2 point conversion, it was still pretty entertaining.

Was it me or did he let his guy go a couple times to get a hit on Foles? LOL

Everytime I flipped over to watch I saw either Orakpo getting beat and I saw the Alfmo fumble on the screen pass. I just shook my head, season needs to end.

My speculation is that Rak realized that he had a lot more to lose by getting hurt than the Pro Bowl winner's share and so he stayed out of potential trouble.

But, yeah, he could have saved the game for Team Puke Yellow.

I don't blame any player for not wanting to risk injury in a meaningless game, especially one as silly as that shitshow was. Team Rice vs Team Sanders, give me a break.

I tuned in for about a minute at the beginning, the last minute of the first half and I saw the last TD of the game right at the end.

May have flipped to it a couple of times here and there in the middle but yawn...even though the end was pretty good.

When I saw Foles was in for the final drive, I said, "it's over".

Tucker actually got close on the 67-yard FG attempt, closer than I thought.

Glad Deion's team lost. Now he won't brag about it nonstop on TV for a year.

And...

Monkeydad 01-27-2014 10:58 AM

Re: 2014 Pro Bowl Thread

I did tune in to see one scoring drive in the first half.

Gray team had it 1st and goal. Pass, pass, down to the 1 yard-line..pass...it's 4th down on the 1. Alfred Morris was in the backfield and was already ignored on 3rd down for an incomplete pass from Cam Newton. I said, 4th down, give it to Alfred...this is what he does.

What was the play call? QB sneak up the middle by Cam. Stopped...but a timeout was called so they replayed the down. What do they call? The same play, another QB sneak.

C'mon, give Alf the ball! Seriously, 1st and goal and you don't hand it to Alfred Morris even once but let the QB try a sneak twice?

And of course, we had to endure that idiotic Superman-Tarzan scream dance from Newton.

Yeah, the Superman thing and the bicep kiss drive me INSANE. Most players have their thing, but both of those are SOoOOOo, "LOOK AT ME!"

Watched it for about 2 minutes and had to turn it off. Time to close the book on the watered down Pro Bowl.

Didn't tune in, realized that saw it on the guide while looking for the grammy's and didn't even think to record it. Wished I would've recorded it. It's looking more and more like a lost cause every year.

Re: 2014 Pro Bowl Thread

I'm wondering, how many of you who thought it was silly, with the changes and all, actually watched the Pro Bowl for more than a couple of minutes, if at all? I mean, honestly? Not that I blame anybody for being skeptical, because let's face it - the Pro Bowl is almost never entertaining to watch. But still, who can say they watched the entire game and still came away thinking it was just as bad as the previous Pro Bowls? I can't say that. I actually was quite entertained. Watching it with very low expectations helped. It's still got plenty of lame moments, but the effort the players put into the game, along with the rule changes, and the teams being non-conference, really made the game worthwhile to watch in my opinion. I liked seeing guys from the same team go against each other. It had more of an all-star feel to it than recent years. Hated seeing Alf fumble the ball, but hey, he did have some good moments as well.

All in all, it definitely exceeded my expectations. They still have some work to do to really make it worthwhile to watch, but I'd definitely tune into it again next year if they keep a similar format.

I agree with you that it wasn't as bad as it has been, even entertaining at times. I don't think they will ever get past the fact that it means jack shit though. That fact alone probably reduces interest by more than 50% compared to the worst regular season match-up.

Other than the $15,000 difference (or whatever it is - pocket change anyway) between winner and loser, what do these guys really have to play for? The risk vs. reward really isn't there for them to go all out.

I would have watched more, but I really can't stand Chris Collinsworth. Every time I flipped to it he was saying how this year the players are playing for pride, and how the change to man on man let the corners really play defense. He may have been right, and I did think that they were playing better than the last few years, but I just can't stand hearing him.

I watched the video. Amazing how small she looks when running near the players on the field.
