I like this for emotional reasons. Not so much for football reasons. But the Monday Night Miracle means I'll always welcome him. Hopefully the cost was not high. |
Re: Santana Moss is back on a 1 year deal
Per Tony Pepperoni via Twitter :
Santana Moss signs with the Redskins for a one year deal worth 6.2 million, 5 million guaranteed, 1.2 in incentives. |

I don't want him to be anything more than a 4th wideout on this team though, he had a bad year last year and at his age I'm not confident in his ability to bounce back. |
Re: Santana Moss is back on a 1 year deal
Heck, yeah! Tons of good news today. Now if only these "sources on Twitter" would announce that Alterraun Verner was signed for 4 or 5 years...:joecool:
Although if the 6 million price tag is right, that is a bit steep. |

Re: Santana Moss is back on a 1 year deal
Just waiting for peoples heads to explode at the price! Noone took the bait though. Im sure its more along the lines of 1.5-2.5 mil considering his vet status and his subpar year last year. If Santana gets 6.2, I will lose all faith in this front office right off the bat!

Yeah, that price would be ridiculous. |

I did a double take on the price, then I noticed the source. |
Re: Santana Moss is back on a 1 year deal
If we have a plan for a true #2 receiver (Hankerson? draft?) we could have a fairly potent air attack next year.
1) Garcon 2) ? 3) Roberts 4) Moss Moss can get it done as a #4 receiver. |

He definitely got me good, I was questioning everything I thought I knew and almost posted a reply praising GTripp's insight. |

Re: Santana Moss is back on a 1 year deal
He's just a guy.
|
Re: Santana Moss is back on a 1 year deal
Santana has been a great Redskin but it's just time to move in another direction. I don't get this re-signing at all.

It is probably close to vet minimum and Santana seems like a good team guy, like an off the field leader, like a mentor to new guys, and like a great 5th WR. |
Re: Santana Moss is back on a 1 year deal
I got nothing but love for Moss.

Yeah this. I don't think this deal exceeds $1.5M, if even that. |

I was talking only about WR's. But while we are on the topic, if I am the FO I am making a backup plan regarding Reed, who might be one knock on the head away from being done. IMO we need to sign/draft a pass catching TE. |
Re: Santana Moss is back on a 1 year deal
nothing but love for moss. 2005 was amazing for him. he's just a guy now, but you need depth, so...

ANY wide receiver would be better (because of the defensive reaction) if those two are both going out in patterns. |

He's more than "a guy". He's "a guy"+. |

I honestly wouldnt be shocked if we picked a TE with our 2nd rounder. Surprised a little but not shocked. |

Excellent idea. And I'm not joking. I say trade the #34 pick plus Kirk Cousins to move up and take Ebron. |

Oh no, I agree, it is a great idea, I just don't think it could happen. |
I was all for the Moss resigning. One of the few lol.

Yep pretty much. Hard to see him having having any sort of significant role anymore, but he's quality depth so there's that. |
Re: Santana Moss is back on a 1 year deal
Why the urgency to sign Moss today? He would have been available right before camp if we still needed receiver depth.
|
Re: Santana Moss is back on a 1 year deal
1. Garcon
2. Roberts 3. Jordan Matthews 4. Moss 5. Robinson 6. Hank Time (injury) |

Re: Santana Moss is back on a 1 year deal
I think resign Moss is just to have that veteran presence in the locker room. He might be fighting for a roster spot in camp .
|

Why not sign him? I don't know if it's urgency as much as two sides in agreement and getting it done. Unless the deal is out of the ballpark bad, I doubt it cost anything to have him here through the offseason. |
Re: Santana Moss is back on a 1 year deal
Santana Moss is a good veteran to have in the lockerroom.......his leadership is needed.......plus they can rely on him on 3rd and short.....

Re: Santana Moss is back on a 1 year deal
UNbelievable, this guy needed to go last year and now Skins fans have to put up with him for another year. The only good thing is that this is only a 1 year deal.

89 will win his spot!!!

He's here because the Shanny regime couldnt draft or develop anybody. Not the worse thing in the world, but he will have to earn his spot for sure. |

Yeah, we "put up" with his 42 receptions and countless clutch 1st-down conversions as a part-time reserve player. He saved a lot of drives last season. You're acting like we just signed him to be a starter. |
