Redskins sign Ryan Clark
Welcome home?
|
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
Good signing. Glad he is back. Will provide solid leadership in the locker room.

Agree. He'll be a stop-gap until either our younger safeties develop or we acquire another FS next season. He also knows the defense and can serve as a mentor to our young safeties. |

Djax door slammed shut.

Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
I really didn't expect it to happen, and have mixed feelings about it. He'll be a serviceable option for a year or two anyway, and will be an excellent veteran presence for the young players.

Why is that? He signed for vet min. |

Welcome Back Clark.

Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
We have a free safety!
|
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
I am good with this. Clearly intended as a stop gap. Even if he is not where he was last year, he is an improvement on what we had.
Never, ever, ever, should have let him go in the first place. I still hate you Vinny. |

Safety is not free. |
Good signing. He's old but he'll start day 1 I'm sure
Good Lord I could not agree more. Imagine what might have been if we paid him instead of Archuleta...
We would have had a decent safety opposite Sean Taylor, and more money we could have spent on other positions. Even if we still go BPA and draft Landry in 2007, Clark could still contribute.

Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
He got cut for giving up the winning touchdown in the playoffs to Tampa Bay.

We beat Tampa . Maybe the regular season game ? |
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
I remember him getting plowed by LT at FedEx in overtime in 05 which he took to the house for the win. Remember at the time Sean Taylor was our FS and Clark wasn't really built for strong. Plus we had dreams of a Landry Taylor backfield once upon a time.
|
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
Cool, not really that excited, but should be an improvement at free safety.
|
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
Hopefully he will share his wealth of knowledge with Rambo.

Seattle in the playoffs... Hasselback to some clown.. |
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
I really don't know how much of an upgrade he'll be or even what safety spot he'll play. Just hoping this isn't a desperation move and that Clark has at least one good year left in the tank. Also this is about 8 years after what I feel would have been his prime.

LT had a nasty nasty stiff arm

Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
At least if it's a stop gap it's a stop gap that can bring some attitude. Helps free up some options come draft time too.

Who says you can't go home? Welcomed back, Ryan!

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
I was there... It was a heartbreaking way to lose! My first time to fedex. Then we went on to win 5/6 straight to make the playoffs. I was also there for the CC Dallas beat down and the Giants game on Christmas Eve. It was an awesome bunch of games except for that LT stiff arm! |
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
I was wondering what happened to him. Like the signing, I think our secondary will be less of a "honey hole" for opposing teams now. Also, his leadership skills are apparently great. Hopefully he coaches Thomas and Rambo up to their potential.

Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
Can't argue with this, and glad to bring more leadership onto the team.
BUT it's hard as a free safety once you lose a step. Free safeties are spread all over the field and the last line of defense.. Even future HOFer Ed Reed last year (at age 34) was burned routinely. Ryan Clark will be 35 by October, and there's little doubt if we had any other good options they'd be starting instead by then. This is not the solution, but a bandaid. Really hope we can address in draft or develop P.Thomas through Clark. Manning would've been a more viable short-term solution (31yo), but Clark is fine for now.. |
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
Not a fan of this move at all. Have some confidence in the guys you drafted, instead of a washed up old player past his prime.
|
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
Welcome back Ryan Clark......let's see if he can play the way for us like he did before....
|
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
This will just push back the young guy's development. Not a fan of this move at all.Need to get younger and faster at ss and fs . Not older and slower.
|
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
LOL. So we finally had a case where we signed a high-profile player for vet min?
|
I cant help thinking that this is going to turn into one of those...let a good player go - thrives for another team and when he is finished we get him back.
|
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
Hell play a nice role this year behind Hall, Porter, & Amerson.
|
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
We should just bring Champ back too.
|
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
I don't see Clark as setting Rambo and Thomas back, but possibly accelerating their learning curve. Clark's number one asset at this point is his leadership and mentoring ability.
|
Re: Redskins sign Ryan Clark
again, champ's never coming back here.
and i don't think rambo has a learning curve to accelerate. it's hard to put into words just how mind-numbingly bad he was last year. I was happy when we picked him, but man. |
