DeSean Jackson
OL Mike McGlynn
LB Akeem Jordan
CB Tracy Porter
S Ryan Clark

I literally went, "who the fck is Jake Rogers?" Apparently he's a punter. When did that move happen?

safety, RT, OG. could go DL too since hatcher et al are old. DL depth is pretty decent, but i don't think there's a starting RT for us at our spot. so i think we'll grab a 1st round safety that falls or grab a DL guy in all likelyhood. i'd be fine with an OG as well.

Re: The post major FA moves Draft Thread

Trade 2nd round pick down to middle of second round, picking up extra mid-third rounder (trade value chart supports this)

Then:
2 OT Antonio Richardson
3 FS Terrence Brooks
3 C Travis Swanson
4 ILB Chris Jones
5 RB De’Anthony Thomas
6 TE Richard Rodgers
7 CB Andre Hal

Nice plan Lotus.

Now that we have fewer holes, I'm a fan of best player available. I'd also be OK with reaching a half-round for the best safety available.

A NT at #34 would be great. Dominique Easley or perhaps Stephen Tuitt if he falls. Probably not any Free Safeties available at #34 will be worth taking at that spot. Pryor and Clinton-Dix will be taken in the 1st, and Terrence Brooks, while the next best available, isn't worth the #34 pick. Could take SS Jimmie Ward, but we already have Meriweather, Rambo, and Thomas there. Before we signed DeSean Jackson, I was hoping for a WR in the 2nd, but that's out of the picture now.

2nd: NT Dominique Easley EDIT: I accidentally put Tuitt here at first; while that would be great, he probably doesn't fall to #34

3rd: OT Joel Bitonio

4th: CB Rashaad Reynolds

5th: WR Michael Campanaro

6th: FS Dontae Johnson

7th: TE Colt Lyerla

Good plan. Better a half-round early than a pick too late.

Personally I prefer Chris Jones. He may be better than Skov in coverage and we need that skill in an ILB.
Shayne Skov off everyone's radar now?
I would target him if he makes it to the 3rd, our current ILB's are average at best, coming back from injury and/or suited for ST's play. Skov is a smart player, a leader and can play, he would be the perfect successor to Fletcher. How many players in the NFL can say they learn how to play football in Mexico.

Reynolds would be a good one. He takes great angles and is a nice open-field tackler, two things we could definitely use in our secondary.

I still want Dri Archer on this team to make opposing defenses shit on themselves.

The idea of RG3, Garcon, Morris, Jackson, Archer, Reed, and Roberts. that is scary fast and skilled.

Re: The post major FA moves Draft Thread
Shayne Skov off everyone's radar now?
With the additions of Akeem Jordan, Adam Hayward, and Daryl Sharpton, ILB just isn't as big a need as it was a month ago. Akeem Jordan is a capable starter, and Keenan Robinson maybe could start as well if he stays healthy; throw in Hayward and Sharpton as backups/special teamers, and you have a solid group. If Skov or any other ILB is the best player available, I'd say take them. But we certainly won't be reaching.

And I'm still with you on drafting a fast, versatile weapon, whether it's Archer, De'Anthony Thomas, Marion Grice, or maybe even Henry Josey. Doubt we'll reach for any of those either, though. We have a potentially explosive offense already, so we probably won't draft any of those guys. If Chris Thompson and Helu stay healthy, there wouldn't really be any need for another one anyway. But that's a big "if".

the last thing we need to do is draft a skill position player. OL/DL or safety. keep it simple

The more I think about it, all things (and players) being equal when the Redskins pick at #34- they should pick up an O-lineman - preferably RT. The Redskins' future is and has been tied to RGIII. Might as well do- the proverbial "all-in" for real by shoring up the line to make sure he's protected.

I agree, unless no tackle has a 2nd round grade then trade down and get another 3rd

Re: The post major FA moves Draft Thread

It seems to me that one of the advantages of having a GM and a HC who are not the same person is that the GM can take the long view which a HC is less likely to do.

That's where the list that rates draft prospects regardless of position comes in. When it's time for the Redskins to pick in each round, I hope that there is someone available who is at or near the top of that list who also plays a position of need. But if there isn't, I hope they either pick a player who they rated much higher (Cousins) or trade down rather than reaching for a player at a position of need (LeRibeus).

We have sign 2 guards, and a major acquisition on the DLine in Jason Hatcher. Our NT is already ranked in most circles as the number 1 ranked NT. We also resigned Chris Baker, why draft 2 more D-lineman?

The pushback will be legendary.

That said, taking someone like Amaro would fit in with the MO of the FO so far.
How mad people gonna be when we take a TE at 34...
Don't know if they'll take a TE at 34, but they've been really slowplaying addressing TE and the right side of the line. Figure they'll be going for offensive meat and potatoes on day two, probably with a trade down worked in there.

RG, RT, TE2 are the three biggest offensive needs.

They are big guys with short shelf life. If you wind up with too many they are very valuable as trade bait. They can be late round picks with high upsides.

Not sure if DT is a priority. I'm guessing hatcher or baker moves inside on passing downs. CB at 34

Re: The post major FA moves Draft Thread

At #34 we better take the best available player on the board. This pick should be a player that can either start or contribute from day 1. We do need a RT or another D-Lineman that can pressure the pocket from the middle. Our defense needs to much better for us to be a contender this year. Why should we even take a WR in this draft unless it's in the 6th or 7th rd. We need to find a LB to take London's spot . Robinson has to stay healthy this year or he needs to go .

No trading down please. I want thee best rt/rg available. Unless there is an unexpected primo ILB/safety/cb sitting there. Oline/ILB/secondary. In that order. We have some young db's that im anxious to get a better look at this year.
Edit: Seantrel Henderson. Thats my sleeper pick. If this guy gets his head on straight he could be a dominant RT in this league.

He can't be worse than Rocca. Anyone on ST to replace the team from last year is welcome.

Chris Thompson barley saw the field as a Redskin and was injury prone at Florida State. I don't much stock in him at all.

He could be a very good weapon, but I'm afraid we're always going to be saying, "If only he could stay healthy..." He couldn't stay on the field at FSU, so why would that change in the NFL? Don't think it's far-fetched at all that Gruden will draft a versatile RB type. After all, he and Allen apparently had interest in trading a draft pick for Sproles.

If our secondary is just a little bit better than last year, and if our RT is just a little bit better than last year, we will win the NFC East. This offseason, I believe, is the best offseason that the redskins have had in over 15 years. Time for RG3 to put it all together and rule this league.
