Ill kick it off with this little beauty. |
Re: All things Jam Bands Thread
I leave for the annual wannee music fest Monday to say goodbye to one of my favorite bands of all time, the allman brothers. Greg allman and crew are hanging it up after this year, unbelievable run. I first saw them when I was a freshman in high school and was blown away. If u take anything away from this post, take this:the allman brothers band album" live at the Fillmore east" is the greatest live album ever. Please go out and get it. If u hold any judgements of the band, remove them and just listen to that album if u like rock, blues, jazz or jam bands.
|
First of all enjoy the shit out of yourself. Second of all i cant believe they are hanging it up. Third of all i do hold judgement against them and will buy that album. Crazy that u said that.

Re: All things Jam Bands Thread
I saw a jam cover band called Dark Star Orchestra. They mostly did Grateful Dead songs but they did some other diddies as well. They were pretty good.
|
They are great Rave. The old guitarist plays now with furthur who is the remaining grateful dead members.

I really want to see them.

Re: All things Jam Bands Thread
I know they are old but before their lead singer and guitarist shot himself to death cleaning his gun Chicago was a hell of a rock band.

^ nice. I know the song not the bandmembers so much. Didnt even know he was dead. Never heard a live version of that i dont think. They definitely jam it and I would totally rock the shirt on the right. Im assuming he is the lead singer but its strange the other dude is in the middle. Am I wrong about that?

Re: All things Jam Bands Thread
Saw trey and his band play the wanee fest about 10 feet from stage. Awesome show. Trey later jumped on stage with the allmans and played a couple songs including the dead's franklins tower.
Punch, Randall looks like an interesting venue. Sounds good |
Oh thats really cool you were there. Heard all about it. Havent actually heard it yet though. Yeah I have never been to Randalls but I agree it looks cool.

New phish song about Darius Washingtons ill fated free throws.
New album is surprisingly solid. I think it's their best effort since farmhouse . Some songs are really a throw back to their progressive vibe. Fuego song could be off juanta, has that genisis lambs lie on Broadway feel, just excellent playing. I just doing one show this round, hopefully they do some indoor shows fall, think I'm gonna make a push to see a northeastern indoor show, just a different feel. A familiar one. |
Re: All things Jam Bands Thread
This one is a little old but still one hell of a Jam session!

Saturday was great. Punch u in the eye. Rock and Roll and Hood. Second set got seriously out there. First set was great too. Became a huge fan of Wingsuit after this show. I love the new album. Tube first tube encore. Joy was kind of a bummer. Lol.
Took the train and ferry up which got a little annoying but had a car ride back home. I was in bed by 1:00, and my friends that took a train home werent in until 3:30-4. Loved the venue. Heard alot of bad things about it but Id go back in a heartbeat. Enjoy Portsmouth! |

Hampton show last fall I went to was insanely killer and the Carini that second set was the crown jewel...it was just rocking for 15 minutes and then funked out for the last several minutes. yeah whenever they place a Punch in a set opener, it just gets the crowd rilled up for a throwdown which is always a plus |

Dave Matthews being shown live right now on Yahoo.
Yeah I actually watched about an hour of the second set. Not bad stuff, Dave had that Richmond connection back in the day playing the Flood Zone (club) every Thursday night back in the early, early 90s. I remember smoking a joint with some friends listening to what would become remember 2 things album. He just exploded with that second album, the buzz around town was pretty big. I got to speak with the drummer at Dullas airport back in 98, really really cool guy. |
Re: All things Jam Bands Thread
I think his band is just awesome. As for his voice - sometimes he sounds like the male Alanis Morisette.
