Redskins Cowboys post game

Hope we can build off this, could be a signature win for Gruden

I gave it to Breeland for shutting Dez down, but any of those guys deserve it

Two wins in a row. First winning streak since 2012. Feels weird.

Re: Redskins Cowboys post game

This could be the turning point of this season.

Our D hasn't been able to do anything because we couldn't trust the DBs in coverage and we can't get pressure without blitzing, now with Breeland playing the way he is we might have a legit D. Keep the TOs coming

Our O has been ok all year, with the exception of the Cousins Turnover Machine. DJax is a monster, Reed is looking good, Alfmo may have fixed whatever funk he was in, and with RG3 back, we may continue to improve.

Special Teams has been improving over the past few weeks honestly, and they played a mistake free game tonight. Kia is on fire, if he can keep it up he will keep us in games.

3-5, we've comeback from worse.

Re: Redskins Cowboys post game

Breeland definitely (and I eat some crow for saying he was basically a scrub. Anyone that can hang with Dez is legit)

but honorable mention goes to Meriweather. I've called for his head since last season but for the first time in a long time (maybe ever) dude played LIGHTS OUT. How many forced fumbles did he have? 2? 2 sacks? A fumble recovery? He was great.

Might be the only game I'll ever do this, but I gotta give it to Haslett. They had no answer for the zero blitz. Great game played, I don't know how the rest of this season will play out but for one night I'm going to enjoy it.

Breeland.

I'd give Haslett credit if I thought this would teach him to rush others like this, but we see this from him against Romo all the time. He'll do prevent all next week.

But Breeland and Amerson kept the WR's covered. I'd give them each a ball.

Breeland, clearly, then Merriweather. OK, Hazlett, too (can't believe I said that).

How about the O-line keeping McCoy clean? Who would have thought that?

2 sacks and 2 forced fumbles, adding him to the poll.

Re: Redskins Cowboys post game

Hey, I don't know that this will turn into a playoff run or anything; but enjoy this. As a Skins' fan, this is a feeling we don't get often. What an AWESOME game. So tense, just to go in there and beat them was awesome. So pumped. Even if we can turn this into a 7-9 or 8-8 type season from here, this really could be a big point for Gruden. I know we won last week, but this really seemed like the first time since the Eagles game that these guys just came out and BATTLED. By the end of it I just wanted the game so bad for the players. Doesn't happen often, but great night to be a Redskins fan.

Game ball though, it's Breeland. Don't even think its close. McCoy did his job, and I'm very happy for him, but Breeland was great.

Re: Redskins Cowboys post game

Breeland balled out. I like the Amerson Breeland combo. I still expect some growing pains throughout the year, but Breeland gets the game ball tonight. Trent Murphy looked good for his first nfl start.
Offense worried me with all the "almost" fumbles.I thought that was going to be an issue, but turned out alright. Just a little concerning. Overall though....the beer tasted better tonight than it has in a while.

WillH 10-28-2014 12:13 AM

Re: Redskins Cowboys post game

Breeland . . . No brainer.

Shoutout to Reilly, he doesn't deserve to be on this list, but he played much better tonight.

Keenan Robinson could be considered, too. 10 total tackles and the sack that put Romo out.

Probably keeping press conference schedules and whatnot, I mean if NFL fines people for wearing the wrong short, I'm sure they're sticklers for pressers.

Re: Redskins Cowboys post game

Haslett, his game plan was spot on. He got after Romo all night long and didn't back off. Maybe his best called game since he's been here.

Ruhskins 10-28-2014 12:19 AM

Re: Redskins Cowboys post game

I thought Murphy did a decent job. Had a pass defended (batted ball) and almost had a pick. Good to see him out there.

Would like to see the front seven create more pressure without extra help. Hopefully having Cofield back will help (I'm think he's due back soon, no?)

That is literally how we play Romo every time and it usually works. You'd think the rest of the league would take notice.

I think Haslett earned it. He bamboozled the Cowboys offense which enabled the D to hold them to 17 points. That gave us a chance to win. And we did!

Hr wasn't... He probably had commitments and Wylie got pissed when the guy grabbed him and basically kidnapped him into an interview. 10 minutes later he did a long stand up on ESPNs post-game.

When? I saw him being interviewed?
I voted for McCoy but game balls all around to multiple people. The reason I voted for McCoy because he was basically an afterthought adding him to the roster playing his first start in years and he beats the boys on their turf.
Cleveland will make any qb look bad, just ask Weeden.Weeden looked good in the preseason and he played well in this game,he scored more points than Romo and IMO cowboys would have won if they kept him in the game.

We had no answer for murray,8 yards on first down in ot then they go to the pass? Stupid f ing playcalling by dallas, they could have run murray down our throat
Great win by the skins, best they have played since 2012

Proud of that defense tonight. They balled out, but damnit if they didn't drive me to a melt-down right at the end.

Incredible game plan by Haslett and Breeland simply balled out tonight. A steal in the draft so far.

Totally agree on both points. I was glad when they put Romo back in, he was rattled all night. Weeded looked like he could drive on us at will. Then again, they gave the ball to Murray a lot with him in.

If they ran Murray every play on that last drive we would have been cooked. So glad they put it in Romo's hands.

McCoy...they treated him like they were taking care of their little brother tonight.

Re: Redskins Cowboys post game

This is the way I envisioned our defense to play from the beginning of the season. We are getting Cofield and Philip Thomas back soon and expect the D to play better. Yes, Hazlett has the Cowboys #, I still won't trust Hazlett till the defense plays consistently like this every week. This defense has talent and should play like this all the time. The cowboys lack players on defense and play tough all the time, because of Marinelli.

The defensive stars tonight:

Breeland (I knew the kid had it in him and is a legit CB)
Meriweather (best game as a Redskin tonight)
Murphy (he was held all night) recovered a fumble, batted a ball
Kerrigan (all over the field, despite not able to recover the fumble)
Riley (huge plays in OT)
Robinson (knocked Romo out for 1/4)

Re: Redskins Cowboys post game

I couldn't give it to McCoy, he stalled out on a few drives, he threw a pick in the Redzone, and on what could've been a game winning drive he was called for delay of game and then couldn't avoid the sack the next play. He made more than a few mistakes.

That said, he did enough to win, with little prep time, and he beat the Cowboys in Dallas. All in all, he gets a lot of credit for the win.

Until RG3 is 100% healthy, I want McCoy to take care of the ball, be decent enough in the pass to keep the defenses honest, and try to improve that horrible 3rd percentage.

Did anyone see the hold in the endzone at the end of the fourth quarter, the play Williams snagged the ball after it went through Breelands hands?? I think thats how it went down, but that should have been a Safety!!

In one of the long Murray runs, I think both Murphy and Kerrigan were clearly being held. It was ridiculous.
