Couldn't watch Today
I moved out of the DC area in 1985 but have remained a Skins fan...in recent years it has been easier with the internet, xm radio and nfl Sunday ticket to play close attention...today is the first time in the last 7 years or so that I wasn't following the game in some form or fashion. I felt like I needed a break from what has become unwatchable, bad football, I didn't watch any other games either I generally only watch the skins but this gets harder and harder as time goes on....perhaps others feel my pain

Re: Couldn't watch Today
U missed nothing, be glad.
|
Re: Couldn't watch Today
Coaches, players, and the effort was lacking today. Congrats to the Rams on their win.
|
Re: Couldn't watch Today
Ive spent hundreds of hours making my man cave, I built a theater, I have four tvs on order for the bar with nfl sunday ticket. And it was all based around watching skins games and it feels like it was all a waste. My fiance played fantasy football for the first time this year. I think watching with her and for her players saved this season for me.
Ive seen so many life long skins fans switch this year. Im struggling to figure out why im loyal...I havent know anything else for 30 years but I think we all need a second team, like an AFC one, just to save our sanity... |
Re: Couldn't watch Today
Was not on local channels up in the North East. Would not have watched anyways. coaches, Front office, Oline, defense all pathetic
|
Re: Couldn't watch Today
I have Sunday ticket back home and never miss a game like all of us here but after missing most of this season due to the army I'm glad I haven't watched much. It's a joke how bad this franchise has turned into and it's all on Dan Snyder.

Re: Couldn't watch Today
I'm not going to be able to watch the entire game next Sunday because I have to attend something at my mom's church and while the event takes precedence over the game and I know I probably won't be missing much of anything, I can't help feeling like I'm missing something... When I'm gone I long for the warmth of a nice dumpster fire.
|
Re: Couldn't watch Today
Yeah I stopped watching after the Vikings game.

Nice, and then they proceed to pitch a shutout in front of the home crowd. Hell they should have went ahead looted and pillaged the joint. |
Re: Couldn't watch Today
Decided after the Tampa debacle that was it for me, in terms of dedicating a Sunday to this carnival side-show franchise. Listened to some of it while driving, and briefly 'watched' over the internet while at home, the ESPN gamecast is pure garbage, the NFL gamecast seems to update closer to real time, but spent little if any time on today's game. Have spent more time on this forum, then anything else Redskin related.

Re: Couldn't watch Today
I'm so loyal to this team and this is how they repay me.
|
Re: Couldn't watch Today
I haven't stopped watching yet, but once the game starts to go downhill I flip on the PS4 and put the game on in the background on the iPad instead. Needless to say I've been playing a lot of PS4 this season.

You must be lethal at Call of Duty, or whatever your flavor of game is this season. |

I actually went to that game, with two other mates. Last year all three of us went to The Chiefs game. Both experiences were so bad one of my buddies says he no longer wants to go to any Redskins game again. At the, very, least he doesn't think we should go together because both times Was has been blown out. I reminded him The Skins have been bad for a long time. Whether we're there or not won't make a difference. Look at todays game for example. No one I even knew was at the game, they still get blown out. :( |
Re: Couldn't watch Today
If I had to root for another team I'd go with NO because I was born down that way but I'd probably just end up a fan of the nfl.

The Saints are my #2 but I am not passionate about them. |
Re: Couldn't watch Today
My number 2 has always been miami because of my twin brother but i just wouldn't root for them like that. So that's y I'd go with NO. But I agree i really could care less if they win or lose either
|
Re: Couldn't watch Today
My #2 is the Browns lol
|
Re: Couldn't watch Today
I'd say my #2 is the Raiders. Followed by the Panthers. Honestly.
I dunno what it is with me and losing franchises. |
Re: Couldn't watch Today
I recorded the game but one of my buddies accidentally spoiled the outcome so I watched mostly in fast forward to see how comically bad we were.
|
Re: Couldn't watch Today
I abandoned the game after 24-0 today. Not ashamed to say it either. There was a point in time where even when the Skins sucked I'd still watch every minute of every game, but not anymore. Only had 1 day off this week and had way better things to do than watch a terrible team get blanked. Can't find a single good thing to say about this team after today. Not one.
Ownership = terrible. Front office = terrible. Scouts = looking terrible, don't know if they're being ignored or if their talent evaluation skills are questionable. Coaching staff = terrible. Players not named AlfMo, D.Jax, Garcon, Reed, Trent Williams on offense: terrible. Defense outside of a select few: terrible. Special teams = wasn't terrible for a stretch, today was terrible. Excluding team MVP Tress Way, who was also not that great today. Effort = terrible. Execution = super terrible. Any phase which looked like it belonged on an NFL field = nonexistant. Any hope or sign that something will change after this season = nonexistant. Any hope for the near future (1-3 seasons): nonexistant. I'll leave it with this: Every Sunday I always root for this team to win. But if this team is going to lose (a very real possibility every Sunday), I'm going to root for NYJ, Tennessee, Jacksonville, Oakland, and Tampa Bay to win, because all of those teams have 2-11 records and are in a 5 way tie for worst record in the NFL, which means with our 3-10 record we are apparently the 6th worst team in the NFL (Which I refuse to believe, I mean f'n Oakland just beat SF who kicked our asses). |
Re: Couldn't watch Today
i use cox internet but have to get satellite for the nfl package, next year i will just bundle everything on cox.
To me it still seems the most blame is on offense, very few games i felt the defense didnt give us a chance. Many games we had no hope with few points scored. |
Re: Couldn't watch Today
I've got to be honest, I'm struggling with this myself. I don't live in the area but I've been a fan since '82 and have had Sunday Ticket since it debuted just so I can watch the Skins every Sunday. It's gotten to the point where I have a hard time caring. To make matters more complex I've got a son coming next spring and I'm considering that it will just be easier to root for the Dolphins (I live in S. Florida now) since we can go to the games and just follow the Redskins as an aside.
I have exactly zero faith in Snyder, Allen, Gruden and their collective ability to build and field a winning team. Next year will be the same as this year. I'm usually a foolish optimist but this season has finally beat it all out of me. |
Re: Couldn't watch Today
I watch but for all intent and purpose whether they win or lose has no impact on my mood. In fact when they beat Dallas the fact that Dallas lost brought me more joy than the Skins winning. I no longer conisider myself a Skins fan and being an Oregon Ducks fan I find myself rooting for Chip Kelly and the Eagles more and more.
Getting over the Skins is a long process but I look forward to Sundays where I don't even think about them. |

Re: Couldn't watch Today
Watching the Eagles is like watching my beloved Ducks...they lose now and then but they sure are fun to watch.
|
Re: Couldn't watch Today
Why are so many people rooting for us to lose more games for getting that higher draft pick?
If history is any indication, we´re picking a kicker or a tight end... |
Re: Couldn't watch Today
We are easily the worst team and franchise in the NFL now -- I think being shut out at home by a team with a losing record (albeit a very good defense), having the RGIII trade rubbed in our faces BEFORE the game (suggesting that Fisher didn't think there was any chance he'd lose and look stupid for having done it), and the fact that the "sellout" crowds at FedEx Field are really sparse, even though tickets can be purchased off StubHub for $3 (yeah, less than a tall latte at Starbucks, but far less satisfying).
I have been a Redskins fan for 40 years, and the last 20 have really tested my resolve. I am not sure I have more to give to this shit show. Every time we hit a low point, it just seems to sink lower. But, sadly, I think the real low point hasn't happened yet -- but it will come at the end of the season when we get the crap kicked out of us by Dallas (at home) in a way that launches them to the playoffs. If that happens, and it looks like a real possibility, I think I will have to find a new team. I think at this point the only thing that might change my mind is if the team does some dramatic stuff in the offseason along the lines that folks were suggesting -- blowing it up and starting over in some what that seems sensible. (Oh, and by the way, kick Allen to the curb too -- I don't want him anywhere near this team (as President and just doing contracts) after screwing up as the GM so badly.) |
Re: Couldn't watch Today
To go through this nonsense for two straight seasons has been rough... .as a eternal fan of this team you hope every week that they not only improve but win! But they always lose......and play with no heart whatsoever....
|
Re: Couldn't watch Today
If Rg3 starts next week I'm watching if not then no, I'm not waisting my Sundays the rest of the yr on the redskins. I honestly wouldn't blame anyone here if they stopped rooting for the team. Yeah ill always be a fan of the team but I'm to a point to where I really don't care to call them my team anymore
|
Re: Couldn't watch Today
They're not even lovable losers. I always think of long suffering Cubs fans. No one dislikes them and I find myself rooting for them from time to time. But we are just reviled and season after season becoming more so.

Re: Couldn't watch Today
The problem is the front office...no offensive lineman with the exception of Trent Williams would be starting for another team....the thing that bothers me about Bruce Allen is he was responsible for building those Raiders teams in the early 2000s and drafted well in Tampa Bay...he knows how to build a roster/team.... Allen has the know how...
