Stop Whining!!!
Are there any REAL Redskin fan's left? Are you kidding me about Sean Taylor. He is the best safety in the league and next year he will will prove it more by going to the Pro Bowl. Why do you care what he is doing in the off season. He is a freak of nature on the field. Has he ever not played 110 percent on the field. Isnt that what we care about anyways? He was pulled over for a DUI and was found innocent. Give him a break!! He is akid and kids make mistakes in life but when he is on the field he is a MONSTER!!!!!!!!!Look in the mirror at yourselves and tell me you weren't doing stupid things at his age. The only difference is that he has more talent in his pinky finger than tou had in your whole body. An dlay off LaVar while you are at it. He is a TRUE REDSKIN!!! Would you be mad if your boss shafted you your salary? Let us all have faith in OUR SKINS and stop bitchin and whining!!!! Isnt that what most of you say that LaVar is doing. Let them play!!!

Re: Stop Whining!!!
Honestly, I wouldn't be bitching about not getting that extra fleet of Hummers if I were Arrington. On the subject of Taylor, I don't hold anything against him for the DUI charge because I know I've done stupid things at my age. However, he IS one of the best safeties in the league, but that doesn't give him the right to act like a prima donna after one season.
We've all conceded that he got the short end of the stick on his contract, but that's exactly what it is. A contract. He has to play regardless of what it says. But to prevent from beating a dead and decomposing horse, you're making millions, get over it. |

He's getting paid enough to at least return a phone call. |
Re: Stop Whining!!!
I wouldnt call Taylor the best safety yet but he is the most exciting safety. He needs to get with the program honestly but he has time to show, I think with Lavar going on about his contract Taylor feels if he isnt renegotitated when his contract is up he will be gone. Learning from Lavar mister Redskins himself. I mean what would you think if you are a young kid and here is Lavar going on and on about his contract dispute you gonna feel like hey they not listneing to me that causes players to leave after contract is up if you want to be like you have a contract shut up then when contract is over I'm gone. dont wait til he makes the probowl to try to renegotiate they need to lock him down long term NOW!!!
|
Re: Stop Whining!!!
Antothr thing about contracts is you got to use the 9th pick in the draft to replace Smoot then why not give him the extra 4 mil??? obviously he was worth it his departure caused you to use the 9th pick to get his replacement, and hope he can match his production not like you're getting somone you know is an upgrade you hoping he can stand pat with what Smoot did. That was boneheaded to me obviously Smoot was worth the price, what we gonna do? do Carlos the same way when his contract is up we will never fill our holes like that never improve just keep replacing what we got.
|
Re: Stop Whining!!!
56 & 36 = BEASTS on the field. We had the #2 defense w/o Arrington playing most of the year, I think the defense will kick it up a notch this season.
But the offense, well that's another story... |

No one who works their ass off at college to go get a decent paying job, or anyone who goes to work every day and makes about 70 grand a year wants to hear these guys or any other athletes bitch and moan when they are making that kinda money. |
Re: Stop Whining!!!
well expect that when their contracts are up they are gone. there will be other bidders ready to make them happy its called a free market system.
|
Re: Stop Whining!!!
F Taylor! I am a real Redskins fan and I want Taylor & Moss at Redskins park working out with the rest of the real Redskins...
|
Re: Stop Whining!!!
I wish they had some kind of point/player evaluation scale that was standard across the league when it came to contracts. That way people wouldn't have to worry about underpaying and overpaying.

I wish more contracts were incentive based. It will never get that way now; but I would much rather have guys start with a base salary depending on their time in the league (it wouldnt be chump change, but it would make sure you dont overpay) ; and then good incentives to be built of of that. |
Re: Stop Whining!!!
If he's still in Miami come training camp time, then I'll have a serious problem with Taylor. Until then, it would be nice if he would at least return phone calls to his boss.
|
Re: Stop Whining!!!
Incentive based contracts are hard to sell, Gmanc. What about coaches who bench players so they don't reach an incentive to save money. Or what if all the players hit incentives and send you over the cap? Too many bad things can happen if the whole team has incentive laced contracts.

Re: Stop Whining!!!
Yeah. Like give a good signing bonus to make sure they get those spinners they want for their SUVs and then make them EARN their checks.
|
Re: Stop Whining!!!
Don't hate the player hate the game.

Re: Stop Whining!!!
LOL Nice one...

That is fine if everything were equal but....the NFL and their players generate billions of dollars for the league and their owners. I am not sure if you generate that much for you boss? Most of the billions earned by ther NFL is on the backs and broken knees of the players. Add to that the average players career span is 3.5 years. I would rather see the players get their share than see the owners pocket it all. Regarding you statement above: How would you feel if you are making $70K and the guy in the office next you (doing the same job) is making $500K? Add to that, you are doing the job much better than then your over paid co-worker. Would you still whistle on your way to work? I would not, I'd be pissed. |

Re: Stop Whining!!!
When it comes to where people are making millions and millions that is a VERY different story. When you have millions, WORLDS of opportunity are opened up for you. That's completely different from making $70,000. When you are making millions, you are living a life of luxury.

Re: Stop Whining!!!
LavarTaylor21:
I liked your opening statement. There has been way too much whining about Sean Taylor. I am not sure if you were a member of this site when we drafted him, but the members that wanted Kellen Winslow II were bitching up a storm just like some are doing regarding QB Campbell. There was a thread last year calling Taylor an idiot, moron, etc. What irks me most about this whole situation is the NFL (by their own laws) makes these work outs VOLUNTARY! However if you decide not go...you get thrown under the bus by the fans, media and coaches. Call them what they really are...MANDATORY! |

Malcolm- If you were making your boss millions, would not expect to be properly compensated? Bonus, raise..whatever. Or would sit there and accept getting ripped off? |
Re: Stop Whining!!!
If I'M making millions, I'd enjoy the fact that I am living at a level most people never dream of. That might be because I could DEAL with making a million or two. I wouldn't care what other people around me were making.

Re: Stop Whining!!!
One major problem with this comparison, in the NFL you re one play, one injury away from instant retirement.
While at our jobs, if we do not do something stupid to get fired, we can keep our jobs until we are 60 or more. So the NFL players need to get as much as they can in their very short careers. |
Re: Stop Whining!!!
I'd agree with that if they made salaries of $100k or less a season. They are making MILLIONS of dollars. If they want a fat signing bonus, that's fine. That can set them up for life whether they get hurt or not. OK, so you sign a contract with a $4 milllion signing bonus. You get hurt first game of the season, and can never play again.
Here's an idea: Sell your mansion, sell your Hummers and invest that $4 million you made into high quality investments and you'll continue to make money. OR maybe use the degree that you hopefully earned in school to get a job. |
Re: Stop Whining!!!
Taylor has to at least answer his phone when Gibbs calls. I don't care where he is working out but I would like to see Moss in there getting his timing down with Ramsey. He is going to get a new contract because the Skins don't want to have given up Coles and not get something in return so that shouldn't be the issue. What is the issue is he isn't a number 1 WR and wants to be paid like one...
|
Re: Stop Whining!!!
This seems like a pretty simple matter. Taylor sat down with the Redskins management. Both sides presumably had highly paid lawyers and advisers there. They worked out a deal. What earthshaking, unforeseeable event has happened in the relatively short time since that meeting that justifies Taylor's demand for more money?

Re: Stop Whining!!!
Every year all of the Miami players go and work out at UM. They have been doing it for years and they generally tend to be some of the better players in the NFL. There will be plenty of time during mini camps and regular camp for them to work out with the team. The NFL is really high on the talent that comes out of Miami every year so why do they have a problem if those players want to keep doing the same things every year that have made them so successful. Do you really think that the offseason workouts are going to be the reason Patrick Ramsey cant connect with Santana Moss in the regular season. I don't think so. If training down in Miami will make Sean and Santana better, I am all for it!!! They will be here when camp starts and they will probably be in better shape than anyone else.
|
Re: Stop Whining!!!
I'm OK with them training in Miami, I'd prefer to have them with the rest of the team. What I DO have a problem with, is them asking for contracts when neither deserves a new one.
|
Re: Stop Whining!!!
I agree about the contracts.

Great points here, but they are redskins now not Hurricanes, I couldn't imagine that happening back in Gibbs first stint you know? I know the game has changed, but I like what Gibbs is trying to instill in these players through these "Voluntary" workouts. We need the CHEMISTRY!!! |

I'm the same way. I would rather have them with the team, but I'm not that mad at them for being in Miami. From what I hear those workouts are twice as hard as anything the NFL teams do. |
Re: Stop Whining!!!
hey cmon the skins aren't the only team with this problem. the giants were probably pissed that shockey wasn't at team workouts, the ravens are probably mad that ray lewis and ed reed aren't at team workouts, and all the other teams with good miami players are probably pissed also. and lavar probably said those things at the heat of the moment. im sure he's still not pissed at the redskins right now.

Re: Stop Whining!!!
Yeah, LaVar is kind of like my girlfriend. She's a fireball but she gets over it in the snap of a finger.

LOL I reread that and it was pretty funny.

I have no problem with them working out in Miami either, I do have a problem with Taylor not calling Gibbs back that just makes for a strange work enviorment when traing camp does start. As for new contracts, I dont believe that Moss has ground to stand on, I mean he was traded, that is part of the business, that does not mean that he is intitled to a new contract, the Redskins took on his contract via trade. As for Taylor, I dont believe that he needs a new contract per say,but maybe restructure it to make him and the team both happy. I do think that the FO took advantage of Taylors agent, but that goes with the territory. |
Re: Stop Whining!!!
Well Moss IS due a contract soon. I think he only has one year left on his current one. He DOESN'T however, deserve the money that I'm sure Rosenhaus will ask for from the Skins.

I deffinitly agree about that Rosenhaus will ask for the Denver Mint for Moss. I still think that Moss has alot to do to get that kind of money... |

Alot of the players put alot of trust in there agents to do what is best for them, thats why they have agents. Taylors agent that layed down on the negotations is more at fault than Taylor, IMO. I agree that if Taylor didnt like the contract he should not have signed, but in his deffense, it wasnt his job to decide on the contract that is what the agent gets paid to do, Taylors job is to layout TO or anyother WR that crosses his path and as a rookie I would say that he did pretty good. I do think that Taylor got shafted by his agent, at the time, getting him to sign such a long contract for that ammount, but Taylor did play musical agents during the off-season last year so go figure... |
