Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
Good news to me. He had a chance and failed. Later
|
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
Arm just not strong enough. Wish him luck, seems like a good young man.
|
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
So who does that leave us with, just Cousins? Why does Cousins even stay when they've already said that RG3 is the starter...you'd think Cousins would want to go somewhere that he has a chance to play....

He's already said that if RG3 gets named starter (which he did) he wants out. Question is, is he going to fetch the kind of deal that the Redskins want. (Probably not). |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
Colt has my respect as a Cowboy Killer. Happy trails to you, Texas Noodle.
|
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
I really liked McCoy because he had such a strong command of the offense. I just don't want to see him go...at least his game was consistent.
|
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
The sound of weeping you hear is SmootSmack balled up in the corner mourning his latest QB man-crush - the Skins Chase Colt away like all the others, and now SS is finding comfort in a bottle of jack Daniels.

He stays because he is under contract. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
That one win was pretty sweet, but one win.. who cares?

Exactly. On to the next 3rd stringer. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
UDFAs are always fun to look at in training camp anyways.
Unless you guys want Sanchez or Vick. :smashfreak: |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
McCoy gone? How will we ever get by??? :Smoker:
He's already said that if RG3 gets named starter (which he did) he wants out. Question is, is he going to fetch the kind of deal that the Redskins want. Robert was named the "starter" going into the new season and TC, not the starter for the 2015 season. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
Wish Colt well and hope he catches on with someone. He's a solid backup and spot starter. He was actually better than I thought he was.
|
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
Exactly.
On to the next 3rd stringer.
Totally agree. Guy is a career 3rd stringer if he is lucky. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
I actually really like this move because it seems to have a stamp of McC. If its true that Bruce and Jay both were in love with such a disappointing player such Colt, we finally have a guy who stands up and says "guys, what the fuck are you doing? Cut/get rid of someone who will never help us win"...
|
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
The fact that Colt McCoy was even a part of any relevant conversation surrounding this team says a whole lot about the state of the position.
There are probably 15 Colt McCoys out there that we can get to come into camp and take snaps. No biggie. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy

McCoy is a guy who can play decent against a team that hasn't prepared for him if it is known for a week or more he is starting he reverts back to a guy who struggles to throw for 150 yards against a bad defense. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
We need a long term answer at the most important position on the team.
It is my sincerest.....Hope that, that person is currently on the team |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
McCoy's release IMO signals the correct decision we will be hoping to draft a young QB. Even if it is late in the draft. We need a young developmental QB, rather than stick with the veteran McCoy who is limited. Roll the dice with a young QB! We need new blood.

Your thinking this year.. well roll the dice there? If Scotty Mac is thinkin anything what im thinking.. its looking more like your username. Defense baby, stack it up. Fix the OL. |

Yup. We could use a young arm to groom. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
Now that Colt isn't coming back, they're going to draft someone. Especially with KC and RG3 in the 4th year of their rookie deals. I've read that they like a Sean Mannion from Oregon State.

IMO he could be a good mid-round pickup. He has a lot of starting experience in a pro style offense. |

According to John Clayton they are also interested in Mariota. @Russellmania980: .@ClaytonESPN on @ColemanESPN via @ESPNRadio "If he (Mariota) falls to five, I'm telling you this right now, they'll (#Redskins) take him." @Russellmania980: .@ClaytonESPN on @espnradio "He's (Mariota) not going to fall to the Jets @ 6. Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
Oh dear, that would make quite the circus event if that happened.

I'd like to reserve a front row seat, please. Man, I love this off-season intrigue! Chip Kelly's antics and now this? Good stuff. I can hardly wait to see the next act. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
why isnt Colt here?
Why did we keep one "failure" over another? I hope we kept Griffin over McCoy because the coaches see more promise in him, and not because of ownership. But past history is not encouraging.
|
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
I mean who cares? There is still a (very slim) chance that Cousins/RG3 could end up as something for this franchise. McCoy not so much, he's just not good enough at the NFL level. I'm just glad that a grown up is in charge now.
Wish him the best though. That Cowboys game was literally the only fun I had watching the Redskins last year. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
The Redskins don't need McCoy. Will love him for how he played against the Cowboys, but other than that, he's not starting material.
Just ride with RG3 and Cousins, rebuild that offensive line, and see where we stand at quarterback. Part of the problem with RG3 and Cousins was pressure, surely if the pass protection is solid, that alone would help improve any quarterback's play. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
If Mariota is not the pick at 5, I could see Scott going after Huntley or Mannion in the 2nd or 3rd round if they are available.
|

No way Jose.....that is offensive line/safety territory. I'm fine with a QB but not till after the 4th round. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
Leave the QB spot alone till next year if needed. Way to many holes to even waste a pick on one
|

In Seattle, they kept drafting and kept signing FA until they got a good one. They went through a lot and never broke the bank. We should probably employ the same strategy. Some people consider qb the most important position. |

Hmmmm.....I can see McCloughan drafting Garrett Grayson in the 3rd round.... |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
if you think you can get a 10year starter at QB, you NEVER pass on it. you shouldn't trade 42 draft picks for it either, but without better QB play this year, our team isn't going anywhere. RG/KC have limited upside as far as being amazing players at this point. KC will always have int problems, and RGIII needs to read defenses and stop thinking he's better than he actually is.
|
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
Colt is back:
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter · 12m12 minutes ago QB Colt McCoy is re-signing with Washington, per source. So it's RGIII, Kirk Cousins and McCoy back together again.
|
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
LOL....let the haters back pedal now.
