Cowherd said Jansen wants to get into broadcasting

After the interview with Jansen, Cowherd mentioned Jansen wants to get into broadcasting.

He has been in the media alot lately. Why would he be focused on that right now? He should have at least 5+ years left. Hope he has fully recovered from his injury.

Never to early to start thinking what you want to do after football or whatever. He still has a lot of years left in him.

I think his injury gave him a chance to get his foot in the door. Living in SD, you probably didn't see the weekly spots Jansen had a DC area news station last year. He probably didn't seek out the job, rather it sought him. He is a clean cut guy with a decent personality, so its really a natural fit.

I don't think he's looking too far down the road. I'm sure that he wants to win more than anybody this year.

Jansen is good for a while. Everyone thinks down the road; hes not "focused" on anything yet. I dont take anything from this.

I'd rather see him on ESPN than Micheal Irving.

I tore my Achilles on Feb 27, so I can definitely appreciate what Jansen is going through to get back on the field. I've been in a cast and on crutches for two months, I'm finally in a walking boot and I'm ecstatic. Trust me, Jansen has had a LOT of time to reflect on what he wants to do after football. But he definitely has a lot of football left, he's a rock and his return should really spark our line to perform a lot better.

It's becoming more and more common for athletes to spend their off-time doing broadcasting, even when they're far from retiring as an athlete. It makes a lot of sense, when you consider that they never know when their athletic career might come to a screeching halt.

Jansen's just getting a jump start on his prospective broadcasting career, and he'll be much better for it when he finally does decide to hang it up (which, hopefully, won't be for a long time), or he has no choice.

Watching him on the ESPN draft day special the past couple of years, he definitely has a frank and honest nature, which is entertaining and makes for good TV or radio, especially when he's paired up with a butthead like Romanowski.

When your the size of Jansen you can be frank and honest and not worry about stepping on people's toes!!!

No matter how big you are, smart people can still make you look stupid, but Jansen acquits himself quite well. He's able to make a bold statement and argue his way out of it. Well... except for that Super Bowl cointoss prediction... that didn't quite pan out the way he expected. But he's still a sharp guy, and that goes a lot farther in the broadcasting business than a lot of people think.

holt is looking for a job too... the ex athlete/current broadcaster i'm most impressed with is scotty pipen (comcast sportsnet chicago) he really knows what he's talking about and he's able to relate it well... and the worst athlete/broadcaster is charles barkley BY FAR!

wow, he's sooo bad.

You're kidding me right? Enough with the lame, lack-of-personality sportscasters already. There are meteorologists that get me more excited about football than Jansen. Irving is true to the game and it's fans. Even being an ex-Cowboy. :oink:

He can be true without having to scream and flail his arms every time he talks...

BTW, his name is Irvin, not Irving.

I'll take Jansen anyday over Irvin. At least Jansen can articulate, Irvin is horrible.

You know who's worse though? Brian Cox, ugh the guy can barely speak.

Right now too, I don't think the Redskins could have a better 'front man' talking to the media than him. He seems to be a real team leader, and doesn't say dumb stuff. Rather him out there than Sean Taylor talking to the media (no offense S.T.)

Jansen is one back, neck, knee injury away from being out of football permanently. Might as well set yourself up no to do other things.

Irvin just screams at the Camera. Half the crap he says doesn't seem to ring true. And hes a mic hog keeping other guys from saying there peice. I am not just saying this because he is a ex-Cowgirl. Personally i think Troy A. and Daryl Johnston have been doing a fine job of calling games.[size=-1]

Yeah I actually like Aikman as an announcer. Irvin is horrible though. All he wants to do is be loud and talk about how he used to play. Theisman is the worst though. (Sorry guys). If you've ever met him you'd know that he is egotistical jerk off and he sucks at calling games.

Don't apologize. Theisman is terrible. How many times have I watched him yelling about how stupid a coach is for not challenging a play and then having to be reminded that there's less than 2 mins left. For someone that played the game as well as he did, he sure still says things that are flat-out wrong, doesn't understand all the rules, and is an egotistical loudmouth. I hope with monday night games being moved to ESPN (next year?) he gets canned. I can't see any way they'd keep that crew and let them call monday night games.

To go along with all of that, Theisman also likes to state the obvious.
