2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
Post your predictions for the starting offensive line come week 9.
I'm really curious what the coaches think about Moses and Long. They have given the standard off season coach speak so far. After this draft, Chester, McRib and Compton are sweating. Scherff could beat out 3 of our current starters day 1. LG, RG, RT. Wild and crazy times; hope springs eternal. |
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
I think it'll go something like this:
LT = Trent Williams LG = Lauvo with Long pushing for the starting position C = Litch RG = Moses RT = Scherff This is all off the top of my head and as we know, could look VERY different by the time week 9 comes around. If Long and Moses end up as our starting Guards we will have drafted and developed 4/5 of our line. Sounds unrealistic, but how great would that be? Also, I wouldn't be surprised if they try Moses at LEFT guard. He seems more comfortable on the left side of the line, and with Silverback next to him he could really grow into the position. |
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
I predict RG3 will have been sacked 30 times by week 9. Holding onto the ball and making bad decisions on the pocket lead to sacks regardless of who's playing across the O-line.

That's definitely a check minus for not following directions on your report card |
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
Silverback Luavo Kory L Long Schreff

Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
Why wait till week 9? It will happen at the start of the season.

That seems about right to me, Chico. Actually, I think that might be the Week 1 starting OL, as well. I expect to find that Long has made great strides since last year. One more thing: I couldn't be happier that we got Callahan as our OL coach and then drafted Scherff. Whatever these players have in them, Callahan will get out of them. |
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
TW, lauvao, Tyler Larson, Long, Scherff.
|
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
Just 48 hours into his NFL career, offensive tackle Brandon Scherff is getting a thorough indoctrination in what it means to be a Washington Redskin.
The 6-foot-5, 319-pound lineman, whom the Redskins chose with the fifth overall pick in the NFL draft, went to dinner Friday night with offensive line coach Bill Callahan, who spoke about the bruising, old-school style of football he wants to resurrect in Washington and Scherff’s role in it. WOW....how I love to hear this.... Makes me a little misty eyed.. |
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
T-Will, Moses, Lichtenschleiger, Chester, Scherff.
I think the Lavauo experiment has run its course. |

Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
Chester????
I don't care if Chester stays as a backup (I really wish they wouldn't keep him though... we have enough up and coming talent), but there is no way in all of the free world he should be starting for any NFL team ever. Ever. EVER again. Unless it was an absolute catastrophic emergency. |
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
TW, Lauvao, Corey, Long, Sherff.
Kouandjio could be pushing Lauvao. He is a fourth round pick who fell because of injury concerns, he had the talent to go earlier. If his knees allow he might push early. Last year, Lauvao never seemed to to push people back like his size would indicate he should. He did improve toward the end of the year though. I keep reading articles and blogs (Keim's included) that unanimously don't think Moses should move to guard. I don't know what isn't to like though. He is a truly massive man who didn't suck as bad as everyone thought he would when he was thrown in last year due to injury. He was a 3rd rounder who wasn't expected to contribute his rookie year at all. Thoughts on 6'6" 330+ Moses pushing people at guard? I wouldn't think he would be worse than Lauvao. |
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
Lauvao and Chester are on thin ice. They're days are numbered. Not sure why they even signed Lauvao in the first place.

How About Derrick Dockery? 6'6" 325lb guard. |

Doc was the definition of average. Jacoby made the transition to LG very easily. |

Or Alex Boone, Mike Iupati, Ramon Foster, Kyle Long, Geoff Schwartz, Matt Slauson. All these guys are 6'5 or 6'6", Boone is 6'8" and have played at a high level on the inside. Not that uncommon. |
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
Ok, Chester blows but not sure if Long is quite ready yet and I think Scot cuts bait with Lavaou.

Not that uncommon.
Playing inside or tackle has nothing to do with height. And I'm a little lost on how folks think guard and tackle are just interchangeable positions. Moses isn't a guard because of height. |
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
If Moses can transition to guard great!, I don't know if he can though.
|
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
Kouandjio had a 2nd-3rd round grade, he could take over G eventually.
|
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
Keim says he's talked to people in the organization who view Moses as interchangeable between Tackle and guard, so that's where it's coming from.

Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
T. Willams Kouandjio Kory L Long Schreff
I think this is the starting bunch |
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
If Moses could move to guard, and be the backup tackle in case of injury, that would be a good development for our line. I think Callahan knows how to build lines, and ultimately (and I believe quickly) we will finally see the upgrades to the OL that us fans have been asking for.

Jacoby never played G. He moved to RT when we traded for LT Jim Lachey. |

I think this is the starting bunch
Probably right . However , I think running more of a power than zone , will benefit Lauvao , so I could see him playing much better . |

Or T. Williams. Lauvao/ Long Kory L. Kouandjio Scherff Or T. Williams Scherff Kory L. Kouandjio Moses! |

T. Williams. Lauvao/ Long Kory L. Kouandjio Scherff Or T. Williams Scherff Kory L. Kouandjio Moses!
Williams and Scherff would make one hell of a dominant left side of our OL . |

Too big a leap to assume Moses can return from Lisfranc to be an adequate starting RT, even by week 9. Scherff has to take RT. No other scenario works. |
Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
I do think Kouandjio takes out Lauvao as long as Kouandjio is healthy. I think Chester holds off Long somehow and keeps his job. I think Long will be a disappointment all said and done.
McLeRib gets cut in training camp. |

Might happen. Who knows. There will be a different run-blocking scheme this year so it really comes down to who can adapt well. Chester has experience, have to like his chances at figuring things out. And it's not like Chester is small, he's listed 6'3" 303. But everyone at Redskins park knows they're switching to a power scheme. Chester (and everyone else) has 4 months to add 10 pounds of muscle. |

Our O-line is being asked to be a different type of line than in the past. Plus they now have a great O-line coach who is very good at developing/molding players. You never know who can benefit the most from these significant changes, it may be someone completely unexpected. Spencer Long Morgan Moses Tom Compton at guard Chris Chester Xavier Nixon Josh LeRibeus We have some size and numbers as backups at O-line. What if a Tom Compton or Xavier Nixon suddenly blossomed? Or an UDFA? |

A 3rd round pick. We wasted a fu#*ing 3rd round pick on that asshat. |

Re: 2015 Week 9 Offensive Line Starters
LT: Williams
LG: Long/Moses C: Lich RG: Lauvao RT: Scherff Don't remember what show specifically, but I heard in 980 that they believe Lauvao's best spot is at RG. I hope this becomes a very good offensive line that can create a dominant running game, creating a team less dependent on the passing game. If we become a run first team, a lot of pressure will be off whoever is at QB. Hopefully we can pull wins like Seattle does, where their QB only has to throw the ball 15-16 times a game. |
