Jets pregame prediction thread
Well after that choke job by the lousy Niners this becomes a little bit more of a must win if we want to keep pace in the East. Im really hoping DJax comes back. Keys to this game are simple - we need to make Fitzpatrick try and beat us through the air on defense. On offense we need to reignite our run game, and if DJax is back that should be easier to do. Special teams has to be flawless.

Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
I have a feeling that anger over blowing the Atlanta game will carry over and we whoop up on the Jets (finally). Stick it to them repeatedly and never look back.

Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
Can someone explain how we're going to score? Jets are playing some really good defense. We're not going to be able to run the ball. The wr's are going to have a tough match up with their corners. We won't have Reed to match up with their LB's. DJax probably won't play cause his hammy won't heal. I have this down as a loss. Jets 20 Skins 13.

Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
I have a much worse feeling about this game than about the Falcon game. On the road, going against a great defense coming off a buy...I think this could get ugly.

Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
Special teams and defense need to do everything they can to give us short fields. Our kicker has a good leg. We need turnovers and good field position. D-Jax would be a bonus. Anyway let the D and the ST help and hope to God KC does not get flustered and throw errant passes. Low scoring hard nosed and live to fight another day if you are KC.

Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
I hope I am wrong, but I think we get outplayed, and outcoached. I'm just hoping we beat Tampa Bay :(

Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
I think the Jets offense is simply not good. Get some turnovers and a defensive score and force them to go one dimensional leaving their good d on the field too long. We have to show some fight this week. Think Rocky III - get mad and make it a dog fight (with no intended reference to Mike Vick).

Skins find their running game again and grind out a W 20-17

Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
Jets D will be the toughest D we will face this year. They get Sheldon Richardson back from suspension in addition to the studs they have. Todd Bowles is proving to be a pretty good coach (some people here had questions about him being a Head coach) their weakness (if there is any) is their QB and running game, Fitzpatrick if he's hot can make us pay. Not an easy task on Sunday.

Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
skins continue to show progress and its a toss up game.
I'll say 22-17 skins |
Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
I would have loved to have him been our HC.
#Jets Coach Todd Bowles says he'll always have a "soft spot in his heart" for #Redskins. Played seven seasons in Washington. #RedskinsTalk |
Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
Let's not forget that these Jets lost to the Eagles.

Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
It could be a tough day for the Redskins vs. the Jets on Sunday as not only is left tackle Trent Williams not practicing but neither is center Kory Lichtensteiger who has a broken finger and banged-up shoulder. Lichtensteiger is not on the field. The Jets have one of the best defensive fronts and return end Sheldon Richardson from a four-game suspension.

Jets pregame prediction thread
Seriously, I'd rather have our 3 RBs than Chris Ivory, our WRs over theirs, our o line (at least, if moderately healthy) and even our QB over theirs. On d, hard to say we'd take our starters over theirs, except for maybe our LBs. it shouldn't be considered a gimme for the Jets at all. Just get to Fitzpatrick. And establish some consistency in the run game (don't have to rush for 185 yards to win). Should not be a close game if we go in looking to just hit them in the mouth all day. Someone needs to get pissed off. Jason Hatcher, would be nice for you to show up this season.

Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
24-17 jets. we definitely have a chance, but I think the injuries and how poorly we play in the 2nd half of games makes it a hard one to win.
|
Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
The offense manages to move the ball with mediocrity, can't find the end zone, and comes up with just three field goals.
However, they are bailed out by the defense and special teams with one TD a piece. REDSKINS - 23 jets - 16 |

The third quarter is our worst. We're getting out-coached at halftime. The coaches need to improve in terms of halftime adjustments and motivating the players to come out fired up to play at the start of the second half. |
Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
Really bad news.
John Keim ESPN Staff Writer Redskins left tackle Trent Williams, center Kory Lichtensteiger and corner Chris Culliver and tight end Jordan Reed all are out for Sunday's game vs. the Jets, according to coach Jay Gruden. |
Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
Other than the Giants game we were winning at the half. Generally speaking the teams losing at the half make better adjustments for the third not sure if I agree that is getting out-coached. I am more concerned about being resilient enough to make changes for the 4th quarter. The fact we had the lead going into the half in four games tells me the coaches have really done their homework and prepped the players leading up, but they need to get that 4th quarter taken care of and respond to the adjustments made by the other team.

If D Jax plays it would help. Kory L experience will be missed, but I guess LeRibeus gets the start? Is Morgan swinging over to LT or we going Compton or Nsekhe? this could get ugly Jay is gonna have to get the ground game going...I think we need to move Cousins out the pocket...I think draws, maybe shovel pass, and our screen game will be on the menu. End arounds with Crowder? |

I think this is the right move. Morgan Moses has been one of the best Right Tackles in the game this year. Yes he has. So why not keep a good thing going on the right side and keep it stable? good move Jay McRibeus could actually be an upgrade at Center. |

Weirdly enough, this is a time the Skins randomly pull out a win. Kory's blocking was leaving much to be desired this year, but his protection calls were key. I DO trust Callaghan to get everyone right. It's the LT position I'm super concerned about. Jets LIVE off of scoring after turnovers and I just have a nightmare of someone hitting Cousins' blindside. |
Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
No way we win this game. We will not be able to run, wr's probably can't get open against their corners. I would throw the ball to Chris Thompson and Crowder every single play. Crowder out of the slot and move Thompson around. Everyone else would be a decoy. Garcon and Grant will be useless Sunday.

Well I'm changing my prediction folks. Trent is our best player no way we beat that jets defense and team now.

Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
This now becomes a test of coaching. Haven't really gone after Gruden too much, but he knows, and probably has known that these guys weren't going to play - so let's see how the game plan works to the strength of those that are in.
I know the Jets D is very tough, but the theme of the year is "they aren't the '85 bears". And we do have offensive weapons though. So let's just get it done! |

"its going to be a great challenge". a lot of other clips of the coachs' pressers. |
Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
I've never even heard of Trent's backup. Plus Lerib is starting too? lol. He gets blown up everytime he sees the field. This has nightmare written all over it.
|
Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
Agree CRR and OTM I have been impressed with the game planning and for the most part execution in the first half of the games. Second half adjustments have been a struggle but that could be attributed to quality of product and not just coaching.

Jets pregame prediction thread
This is a disaster. Changing my prediction; I don't see how we win (or even keep it close). I just want to escape this game with no more injuries. Frankly, if DJax isn't completely healthy, I say rest him too. I've never seen anything like these injuries. It's like we are the only team that is having a strike season. Ty Nshke? Could be Ty Cobb for all I know. Gads.

Re: Jets pregame prediction thread
Unless a miracle happens, I can't see us winning this game. The Jets are just going to swarm our patched/inexperience o-line and their corners will be more than capable of taking on any of our receivers on their own. I am actually concerned for Cousins' well being.
