Skins vs J E T S preview
Atlanta is in the past, lets look ahead to the Jets.
Both teams are pretty similar, Jets are 14th in offense (24th in pass) (7th rush) Skins are 11th in offense (18th passing) (12th rush) Jets rank 2nd in the NFL in defense (2nd pass) (8th rush) skins rank 6th in defense (8th pass) (12th rush) They are great in the secondary obviously with Revis back there it'll be a challenge. Offensively they dont scare me much but if we turn it over it wont matter. Big matchup will be their run defense vs our run offense, it's the key to this game imo. If we can't run the ball I see a long day in NJ. Thoughts? |
Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
Jets D will be the toughest D we will face this year. They get Sheldon Richardson back from suspension in addition to the studs they have. Todd Bowles is proving to be a pretty good coach (some people here had questions about him being a Head coach) their weakness (if there is any) is their QB and running game, Fitzpatrick if he's hot can make us pay. Not an easy task on Sunday.

Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
Very tough match-up.
Best defensive we've faced thus far and their offense is decent. |
Very tough match-up.

Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
The Jets are good and Todd Bowles is a fine coach, IMO. We're going to have to play very well to win this one.
I think our one advantage is (believe it or not) at the QB position. That is, if Kirk has a very good game. Fitzpatrick is playing about as well as he can which, IMO, is nothing special. If Kirk can make accurate throws and avoid the dreaded INT monster, he can be the difference maker in this game. It would help Kirk to have DJax back, as well. To be clear, I am indeed saying that Kirk needs to win this game for us. I'm not predicting that he'll do so, I'm simply saying that I think that's what needs to happen for us to win. But what do I know? It's the NFL so practically anything can happen in most match-ups. |
Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
If we stop the run, they don't have Matt Ryan to bail them out.

Whaaat?
The Jets suck red baboon ass. We're going to crush them, see them flee before us and hear the lament of their women. |

Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
Offensively both teams are similar. Jets have a stout defense this year. I expect this game to be a body bag game. With the Jets rush defense, Kirk will need to throw 45 times and will not have much luck doing it.
23-17 Jets |

Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
tough game and we've got a lot of injuries. we've played well enough that we have a real chance, but we're going to have to play better in the 2nd half to make it work.

Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
I've been checking in on some Jets' message boards; it drives me bollocks reading how they think our boys will be an easy win. I would love for The Skins to show them the what what.
|
Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
From what I have seen the Jets fans are the only ones overconfident, the players all say they got their "hands full". The jets have the advantage of coming off a bye week. Seems last year we played every team after their bye week. I hope its not the same this year. The Redskins need to get the run game working again to win this game. Part of that will depend on stretching the field with Ross, if Jackson can't go, The Falcons had way too many defenders jumping into the running lanes because they didn't fear the deep ball. Gotta do something about that this week...

Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
Redskins coach Jay Gruden said they don’t want him to risk further injury in practice.
“We don’t want to have a guy [accidentally] hit him in the neck area or have somebody trip and have him fall and injure himself,” Gruden said. “He’s such a big part of our offense that we want to make sure he is right.” Others on the Redskins' injury list: CB DeAngelo Hall: He did not practice because of a sprained toe that caused him to miss the last two games. TE Jordan Reed: He was at practice for the first time since suffering a concussion two games ago. He was unable to do anything, but last week he couldn’t attend practice. He’s able to attend meetings, too, another good sign. But he still hasn’t been cleared to do any work. CB Chris Culliver: He was limited because of his injured left knee. Culliver did not wear any pads during the individual portion of practice (his teammates were wearing shells). Culliver wasn’t sure about his chances for Sunday, but said he was feeling better. He never practiced last week before sitting out the Atlanta game. RB Matt Jones: He bent his toe on the last play of regulation and was limited. He said it’s feeling better. C Kory Lichtensteiger: He broke a finger and has a ‘messed-up’ shoulder, according to Gruden. He was limited in practice. DE Stephen Paea: He was limited in practice with a lower back problem. WR DeSean Jackson: Here’s the update on him; Jackson was limited in practice. CB Bashaud Breeland: He was limited as well after suffering a right shoulder contusion vs. Atlanta. But he never left the game and he said he can now lift his arm above his shoulder. Breeland was confident he would play vs. the Jets. I really like Overthecap.com. Particularly in money and cap issues. They put together a power rankings based on some basic formulas. Here are their numbers
(4) Jets SE =0.6% DE=40.0% TE=40.7% (17) Redskins SE=-16.4% DE=13.3% TE=-3.1% Scoring Efficiency(SE)= (teams points scored per game – schedule’s points allowed per game)/(schedules points allowed per game)) Defensive Efficiency(DE) =(schedules points scored per game – teams points allowed per game)/(schedules points scored per game) Total Efficiency(TE) = SE+DE * In all cases a team’s schedule is adjusted to remove games played by that team such that the averages only reflect how their opponents fared against the other 31 NFL teams. OTC NFL Power Rankings: Week 6 - Over the Cap
This week will definitely be a very tough matchup. (for comparison, our other 5 opponents rank as follows(Miami 30, Rams 14, Giants 8, Eagles 7, Falcons 3) |

The one piece of good injury news for Washington: receiver DeSean Jackson is practicing for a second consecutive day. He has missed four game with an injured left hamstring. man we really miss this guy |

Maybe not, but the play that DJax pulled up on was a bomb just out of his reach. Even if he just pulls Revis off Crowder or Garcon, it's worth having him out there. |

True but defenses have got to know KC can't really get him the deep ball with any regularity. Again, I rather have Reed back for short yard passes and his yards after the catch. I am willing to bet when DJAX came available if McLovin was here DJAX would not be a Skin. |

Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
fucking shit balls
i really want to see desean out there. with him in there, it opens up the field, dictates coverage, etc .... Jay/mcvay - just bc jackson isnt in there .. can you at least dial up a long ball every now and then to keep secondaries honest. that PI call in the end zone was huge. and you wonder why our run game has been stopped over the past couple of weeks. zero adjustment to fix the run game after the giants stacked the box and won the game. |

Indy is highest, and Dallas is 5th, with Dallas losing it's qb and star receiver. I've heard it alot over the years when we haven't had much of a deep attack that the QB's we had always didnt' have the arm to pull it off. I guess it started with Brunell, but i remember him having plenty of arm to make those throws to beat the cowboys that time in 2005. Campbell had a decent arm and we didn't stretch the field that much. I've seen times when Cousins has aired it out and the ball looked like it traveled with good speed, etc. I feel i am different than some arm chair QB's, other than having played QB in High School where really no one could throw farther than 40-50 yards max, i have no clue about throwing an NFL ball or how hard it really is. I just think Cousins has an OK NFL arm and can make all the throws.... |
Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
It amazes me man, Djax plays in Philly and seems like he's always putting up big plays he comes here and he starts getting injured. Smh

Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
DJax was injured often in Philly as well.

Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
How many times have we played a team that had players injured or suspended but when they play us they return. So this week Sheldon Richardson returns after 4 games suspended. Great just what we needed monster on the D-line. Our O-Line is banged up and he is fresh off of 4 vacations days. Let's not forget M.Wilkerson and Williams on the D-line. This will be a game where our defense and special teams will need to make a few big plays to change the field position. No missed FG please, every point will be hard to come by. The offense will struggle to score without J.Reed and D-Jax. It will be much easier to take Garcon out of the game now without those 2 players. Ross , Crowder, Thompson, and Jones will need to make plays. The offense can't keep putting pressure on our defense knowing that our secondary is depleted at the CB's position. Facing WR Brandon Marshall and the WR Eric Decker will be a difficult task. They are 2 big strong WR who use their bodies well catching passes. We have a slight chance but without Reed,D-Jax Culliver and Hall it doesn't look good. Well we play to win the game. HTTR.

Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
Reed and DJax are big problems because they miss so much time.
In the case of Reed, I'm afraid that his NFL career will soon be over due to concussions. He tried hard to get his body ready to play a full season but there is next to nothing he can do to avoid further brain injury if he continues to play football. It's unfortunate. On the other hand, I suspect that DJax didn't put out the proper effort to train for the season. I read that his mother and his sister urged him to work out more but he was too interested in his reality show to get ready the way he had in the past. Then he pulled a hamstring in the first game of the season. The injury may have been unavoidable but if he didn't get his body ready for the season because of his other interests that's still a bad look. DJax is going to be a FA at the end of this season and he'll go for the money, so we'll probably lose him anyway. I'm not sure I care if we do. |
Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
As soon as SM feels it's doable.......they'll be replaced.
Best ability is availability? |
Re: Skins vs J E T S preview
WR, TE and QB should be a focus in the offseason. Ryan Grant and Andre Roberts could both be gone after this season.

I don't disagree with what you say but the secondary is the area of greatest need, IMO. I'd also like to see more draft picks for the OL, particularly a big center. |

There are so many good TE's in the league right now, we could easily pick one up off the FA wire during the off-season. We should definitely draft a WR, QB though. |

I watch a good amount of fbs .. qb class , depending on who all cones out, leaves a little bit more than youd like, to be desired
