Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
Even though we are only one game back in this terrible division, lets face it....this is a must win. Not so much as far as keeping pace, but hey - if we cannot beat the Bucs than we are not going to beat anybody.
Skins - 35 Bucs - 13 |
Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
I am still shell shocked by what happened last year against the Bucs. With no pass rush, no Culliver and Deangelo Hall, Ryan Fitzpatrick looked like Tom Brady this past Sunday. I don't think you can predict any easy wins right now, no matter who the Redskins are playing.
|
Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
I long for the day when I can say "this is an easy win for the Skins" with any degree of confidence.

Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
DJax reportedly will be out. Not good. If Reed is out, we have a real problem. Time for Ross to learn some fly routes. Crowder too.

Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
I havent watched a Bucs game since preseason so I really dont know what to expect this sunday tbh.
On paper the Bucs have a better Offense and Defense than us. Im just confused with ESPN ranking the Bucs at 31 on their wk 7 power rankings. - Bucs are 2-3, im guessing they are coming off their bye. But somehow they are behind us, and 1-5 lions (24th?), ravens and chiefs? - Bucs D is 5th in yards per game at 32..8 but allow 29.6 pts against. (we are 8th in yds and allow 23 pts against per game) - Bucs offense seems to be doing okay. TOP is 30 mins. 22 pts per game. We are TOP 27 mins w 19.5 pts per game. Did the Bucs play a bunch of scrub teams for their first 5? Why do we have this sense that the Bucs is a gimme game? The skins with a gimme game mentality? -------------------------------------- We win if Desean, Culliver and Trent play. We lose if Desean, Culliver and Trent do not play. If only Culliver or Trent play, its 50/50. |
Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
This should be a win...Gruden gone during the bye if blown out
|
Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
I'm starting to feel like this is a win or else game for Gruden. He's talking "code red" and what not. To me he sounds like he knows he's going to get fired if he doesn't win this game. Still no Reed, no Jackson and numerous other injuries = more of the same.

He's not going to get fired until the end of the year if we lose. I remember Snyder saying that he'd never fire a coach again during the season. |
Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
Agreed, Gruden isn't getting fired.
|
Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
Stop Martin, have Winston beat us, Skins should handle it.
|
Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
If this is a must win, then it's only a must win for Jay Gruden and Kirk Cousins, both of whom need to improve fast if they hope to be with the Redskins in 2016. It's definitely not a must win for Scot McCloughan or the franchise.
Before the season started, I thought we all knew that we were in the initial stage of building a team. There are some teams we can't beat and some teams we might beat on a good day but I don't think there are any teams we should expect to beat. We're not good enough for that kind of thinking. We could be a middle-of-the-pack team if we had a HC with a clue, a QB who could overcome his fatal flaws, and fewer key injuries. Alas, that's not the case. |
Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
The Washington Post's Mike Jones expects the Redskins to release DeSean Jackson in the offseason.
Yes, we're already talking about next year for the 2-4 Redskins, who are in last place in the NFC East. Jackson has one year left on his contract after this season and is set to count $9.25 million against the cap. The Redskins can save $6.75 million by releasing him. They can save another $8 million by releasing Pierre Garcon. Jones expects GM Scot McCloughan to "overhaul" the receiving corps. Jackson turns 29 in December and has proven unreliable this year. Per rotoworld....kinda like i was saying the other day...Garcon, DJax, Roberts, even Grant...WR corp gonna be gone next year. |

Yes the Bucs lost bad to the titans and texans and just beat the Jags in a shootout. If we lose this game it would be time to start thinking about who we take with the number one pick.
Edit: im predicting a blowout just because Im a Skins fan. If we are truely turning a corner than I think we need to man handle this team. A close win just means we are in the mix with them, the browns, raiders, titans, jags, and texans again for draft pick superiority. |

Comes down to 1)economics 2)age 3)rebuilding team and 4)his guys. Crowder and Ross, probably safe. When McC gets together with his new HC and OC, they will come up with a plan. |

I really like the kid from Notre Dame, Will Fuller. Cincy free agent Marvin Jones would be another target. Combine him with Rick Ross, Crowder and another draft pick...boom. |
Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
Im not going to go next season just yet. We played pretty well up until last weeks second half. Only we lose a guy to a hammy and he misses several weeks? Wtf? Is Trent back? Reed? Dhall? I mean other teams lose key players with seemingly worse injuries and they miss limited action. Big Ben coming back soon. Romo broke his collar bone and he will be back before D-Jax probably? Wtf? Im going to take a deep breath pray for a win on sunday. We beat the Bucs - doable. Panthers beat the Eagles - doable. Cowboys play the Giants. We are either tied for first place, or a game out.

Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
People hating on DJax need to step back for 1 minute. His game is first built on speed, and shiftiness. A hamstring injury might just affect that kinda guy more than a DL. There are a lot of players in the NFL that have hamstring issues. And they can linger. On the last 2 days injury reports there are at least 15 players who have or are dealing with an ongoing hamstring issue. That's why you need back up players...

Just for the record I personally wasnt hating on DJax just our dumb luck with injuries. Especially his. I know that he is a burner and it is more bothersome to him, but I keep thinking he is coming back. Sucks to hear every week he aint. |

I just think with Jackson he's getting near 30. I'd probably say his best years are behind him and we might need to spend the money he's making elsewhere. WR's are like RB's, they're a dime a dozen. Wr's that are making near 10 million better be healthy and they better be putting up serious numbers. Not the case w/ Dax. |

I just think what I perceived as hyper critical reviews of him aren't really warranted. When he's on the field he makes plays. And if a hamstring is hurt, for a player in his position that can be a lingering issue. Again giving SM praise in that he drafted guys that could possibly take DJax's place after this year, it's just a shame that we don't get DJax on the field while they mature. It's not worth saying DJax is a bum or other things like that. |

Understandable....the problem is Jackson is earning $8-9 million this season....money is beneficial for DeSean but not the team...a team wants to spend loaded cash on a player that's playing not on a player who is perpetually inactive. |

And how much did the Patriots spend for Brady the year he was out? or How much did Pittsburgh spend when Big Ben was suspended? You make the contracts, and players play, but when they have a legitimate injury, then that just sucks, nothing more nothing less. The Ravens have 9 million dead money for Ray Rice. 7.5million for Haloti Ngata, who is currently playing on a different team. If DJax didn't give it everything when he was on the field I understand. If he was a Malcolm Kelly who let every injury linger, I get it. But Djax goes out burns his body when he's on the field. He had one season 2012, where he missed 5 games. He typically misses 1 or two, having played all 16 in only 2 of his seasons as a pro. I think he ought to get some benefit of the doubt that something is specifically wrong even if the team isn't being forthcoming on what it is... doesn't make him a bum. |

No, he isn't a bum by any stretch of the imagination. DeSean is still young and can still produce at a very high level. Brady and Rothlisberger are franchise quarterbacks. A wise and talented GM like McCloughan looks at every little thing. I'm willing to bet he has already imagined what the WR corp can be without Jackson. That's a sunk cost. He could just as easily have had his 6th 15+ game season and been a game changer who we stole. |
Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
DJAX… we need him to stretch field…BUT even if he does that does any team fear Cousins arm to get the ball to him?? From what I have seen Cousins does not have a big arm to scare anybody! getting Reed back is more important he can run the routes that Cousins can hit…as far as predictions with the bye week looming the Skins need this game bad..I will say if they lose Gruden is on the major hot seat..I think the Skins win in a close game 21 -20 ..we will see.

Off the top of my head, the Jags game and Seahawks game last year were two in which KC and DJAX hooked up for big time results. |

hearing more and more chatter that Gruden is already being planned to be canned during the bye week and Bill Callahan will become interim HC. Have no idea if there is any merit behind it. It seems plausible but crazy. Must just wait and see i suppose....

Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
I really hope they don't let him go during the season. I know it's been rough but we might as well pack it in and call the entire season a bust at that point. You only fire your coach in the middle of the season if the team is hopeless.

Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
Skins are injured, No DJAX and Reed again most likely, TW is Questionable. Bucs are coming off a bye and rookies have owned us.. They rolled us last yr, this time will be closer but due to the lack of passing game the Bucs will stack the box and force a TO or 2. Kick a GW FG.
TB 20 WAS 17 |

I am not sure that will happen. I heard today on 980 that Snyder said he would never do a firing mid season again after the way it imploded on him the last time. |

You are a good poster but you spread gossip like a teen girl. I can't remember one time that your rumors were morefact than fiction. (though my memory is not great) DS - Didn't fire Zorn mid season. Didn't fire Spurrier mid season. Didn't fire Shanahan mid season. Not gonna fire Gruden mid-season. Though he could make the effective decision in his mind that Gruden is gone if TB blows us out. Re: Must win Skins vs Bucs pregame prediction thread
Yes I know Cousins and Djax have hooked up on the deep ball..however I just can't see other teams being afraid of Cousins arm.. IF having DJAX on the field even remotely makes cousins a deep threat thrower and can stretch the field than all this talk about DJAX being cut at the end of year needs to stop..i say it makes him one of the most valuable players on the team. I am sure the skins are thinking we don't need Djax to beat TB so lets get him 2 more weeks of rest(the bye) and make a push for the 2cnd half..

Id focus more on the play calls than the kids arm.... we hardly EVER go deep, or plan to go deep....
