Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
Let's just say, I'm starting Tom Brady and Gronk this week in my Draft Kings lineup.

I ended up drafting Brady, Lewis and Edelman... ... I got Jordan Reed too so... lol I'm still on the Skins side. |
Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
I think we will fight hard and have a few splash plays with Reed and DJax (and Crowder). But the Pats will be too much and will win something like 37-21.

Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
Brady and McDaniels are gonna attack all the weak spots of our defensive personnel.
I hope Cully and Hall are back or this could get ugly. We simply don't have enough talent in the secondary to cover Gronk, Edleman, Amendola and now LaFell. If our front can't hit/pressure Brady....well Barry better think of something. Maybe go after Brady early with blitz backed up by zone so they don't get beat deep in one play. If that doesn't provide hits or pressure on Brady... It looks like a semi-slow death mixing up zone coverages. |
Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
Even if we get DJax back I dont give us a snowballs chance in hell f winning and I'd be surprised if we are within 10.Im glad this is not a prime time game where we are embarrassed once again.
Whats the line on this game anyway? Pats 52 Skins 24 |
Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
Pats are on a mission, they have rolled everyone so I'm not expecting anything different this week. This will b a game where we can just say it didn't really even happen. I don't think they score 50 but I say around 35-20
|
Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
Trap game. We shock the world!!!!! !
|
Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
Key to me is front 4 pressure on Brady and having better health in our secondary.
Gotta feeling we are gonna need to sling it around so we need our passing to game to have its best day...and im not talking just Cousins. We need our receivers to win against their secondary. Pats: 33 Skins: 20 |
Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
Got to cover Edelman and Gronk, somehow Edelman always gets open, a very tough task.
|
Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
30 - good analysis. Riley/robinson/compton are not going to be able to cover lewis, Gronk, Edleman, Amendola and LaFell (who they say they love).
I really hope we have Hall, Breeland and Culliver back. that way we can play breeland in the slot and have Jarrett play a ton of snaps as well .. basically be in nickel the whole game. Its asking a lot, but jarrett is a tweener btw safety and corner and may be a decent matchup w gronk, at least size/physicallity wise. As long as Knighton, baker, hatcher, paea, kerrigan, murphy and smith can handle the front and get pressure .. that may allow us to play 4 corners in nickel. really hope D jax comes out and does his thing right away. we need his presence desperately. at least the pats have to scheme for him this week. DeSean Jackson's impact felt even when Washington Redskins run - Washington Redskins Blog - ESPN “He does a lot of things well, seems like a really smart guy,” Belichick said of Cousins on Monday. “He runs the offense well. They had some check plays and things like that, he does a good job there. He’s pretty athletic. Even though he hasn’t run a lot, but he moves around quite a bit. They run bootlegs, moving pocket plays, things like that, so he definitely has the quickness to create a little bit of extra time to throw.” Go on… “He does a good job at finding and using all his receivers,” Belichick said later. “Running backs, tight ends, and multiple wideouts — they play a lot of people in the passing game. He definitely spreads it around. He’s done a good job at controlling the clock and making key passes to keep drives going.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc-sports-bog/wp/2015/11/02/bill-belichick-praised-kirk-cousins-but-its-a-trap/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/football-insider/wp/2015/11/03/a-closer-look-at-why-the-patriots-offense-is-so-difficult-to-stop/ ^^ mike bullocks film breakdown of the Pats multi option/read offense. depending on what the D does/shows .... brady always has options. ----------------------- sucks Belichick has 10 days to plan for Reed. |

Looks like you gave up after the first week:benched: I forgot to pick a couple weeks ago so that took me out of the running unless they throw out a bad week. How are you doing at draftkings? I only put in 25 at beginning of season, down to 8 bucks left.Only bet 3-5 bucks a week, play a couple dollar entries and the rest .25 entries.Hate playing players that are playing against the skins, hate the conflict of interest, lol, but this week you gotta do it |
Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
Our luck, after that brilliant come-from-behind win, we have to get stuck with the New England Patriots. It would probably make more sense to go to a movie at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
|
Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
We don't have the pass rush beat NE. You have to knock Brady around a bit and we just don't have the players to do it. Has Murphy done anything since the Philly game??
Also who is going to cover Lewis? They're going to split him out wide and he's going to go off. That was just a great pick up by NE. Not sure why he was out on the street or why we missed on someone like that. He looks like Marshall Faulk. Gronk will abuse Riley and Robinson. I'd put Riley on the bench for this game. He should not stiff the field Sunday or he will be exposed. I'd have Compton in there for coverage. Hopefully KC doesn't shit all over himself. This kind of game worries cause NE will score and he's going to start pressing to try and keep up. But I expect us to score some points, just not nearly enough. NE 45 Skins 24 |
Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
I just hope we have a respectable showing.

100% chance there will be a "headset malfunction" in Foxboro, hope the Skins are working on hand signals.

Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
Like someone said, Pats are on a mission. This one reminds me of their game against Joe Gibbs2 team. Only we don't have Joe Gibbs. :(
If we don't get shutout, and keep them under 45, it's probably a moral victory. |

They bend/break the rules, whine about it, and nothing happens to them. To me, basically Brady bitched and whine his way out of his suspension. If this is any other team/any other player, the suspension would have stayed. As a football fan, I want to like the Patriots, but I feel they do unnecessary things (Spygate, Deflagate, bogus injury reports, etc., etc.) that are annoying and they immediately cry about it when someone (i.e. the NFL, other teams) calls them out on it. |
Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
i think i have, or hope they do, the players mentality. the pats are just another good team. i like our chances, especially if we can make the game chippy

The Patriots are also single-handedly responsible for the biggest bandwagon I've ever seen. I literally had never met a Patriots fan prior to their first Super Bowl. Since New England is an "area" rather than a state, it makes it much easier to hop on. Even with all the success the Seahawks are having, I still don't see that bandwagon outside the Seattle area. |

We should ask Gruden to make every member of the team watch this clip:

Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
FOXBORO -- The Patriots know that if receiver DeSean Jackson is on the field for Washington on Sunday, they'll have to be ready for the deep ball.
"They led the league in big-play passes last year and he had a lot of them," said Patriots coach Bill Belichick on Wednesday. "He’s a very explosive player, just tremendous at all three levels. He can catch and run, he can get over the top of the defense, and he’s a very good intermediate route runner who can get open and create space and take intermediate plays and turn those into big plays, too. Big threat." Jackson left his team's Week 1 game against the Dolphins with a hamstring injury and hasn't played since, but he led the NFL with 13 catches of 40 yards or more last season. Luckily for Patriots corners, they have two more-than-capable free safeties with good range -- Devin McCourty and Duron Harmon -- who can help them defend the deep part of the field against burners like Jackson. "It's a blessing," Malcolm Butler said. "It's a blessing. Those guys, they're back there sniping, they come down and tackle. Couldn't ask for anyone else." There's a fine line, though, between playing with a level of comfort -- knowing that someone will have your back if you get beat -- and playing over-aggressively. It's a line players like Butler have to toe, especially when facing deep threats like Jets wideout Brandon Marshall or Colts speedster TY Hilton. "I think as a corner, you don’t count on that help," Belichick said. "I mean, you count on it on inside routes, but you don’t really count on it on go routes. The big part of that position is the quarterback. If the quarterback controls the free safety by looking him off, looking one way and throwing the other way, then that corner is probably not going to get any help. Now there are other components of that -- the pattern, the protection -- the quarterback’s ability to do that and so forth. "I’m not saying that’s a given, but again, as a corner, it’s not like when you have a half field safety and you know that guy’s going to be back there at least on your half of the field. A middle of the field safety, there are some guys that can get over and guys that get great jumps on the ball and are instinctive and all that, and Duron and Devin have given us some of those plays, but I think as a corner, you can’t just sit there and say I have help over the top. You might, but you can’t really count on that." It's a coaching point that has hit home for Patriots defensive backs, and one that they'll lean on this weekend with Washington's explosive playmakers in town. "I'm still going to do my job," Butler said. "I'm not going to try to . . . All of us are still going to do our jobs. We're not going to try to do anything crazy just because we got the safeties behind us to make up for it. Just going to go out there and play the best we can, and deep down in our mind know that we got their help back there." Butler: 'It's a blessing' to have help from Pats safeties | Comcast SportsNet - CSNNE.com sorry for posting the whole article, just some really good thoughts and concept ideas explained well. |
Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
Our base defense basically plays to their strength.
I really don't think they will need to call a single run play against our 3 deep 4 underneath, eyes on the QB reacting to the receiver. In the 4th quarter of a couple of playoff games last year (Baltimore I remember for certain), I think they went all pass all the time and moved the ball. Will be a long day for our defense. I think this game turns on Jason Hatcher and Chris Baker. |
Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
i do not think we will beat the patriots, and I don't think anyone really expects us to have much of a chance, but i agree with others who say that if we keep them from scoring over 45 point on us, it is a moral victory.I am scared though that they could put up 75+ on us....it could be a long day

Come on yo, 75+? We aren't that old Gibbs team that got hammered on. Don't get me wrong, we'll definitely get creamed, but it won't be a complete and utter embarrassment. I'm going with Pats 34 Skins - 20 |

Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
really ???? with some of the predictions on here about the score if we get beat that bad we have a lot more issues than QB ..LIKE THE WHOLE TEAM SUCKS! I believe the skins will play tough and make it a game pats 38 skins 28 ….

Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
No one expects the Redskins to win this game.. and that's exactly what I like here. They have a chance to go in loose with nothing on the line. The Pats do have some pressure to remain undefeated. If this was a home game, I'd say 27-21 Pats but being in NE, I just want to see them play hard, keep after it and play as well as they should. The beginning of the TB game made me very sad. If I see that level of play again, I won't be happy. I can take losing games, I can't stand watching shitty football.. 49-16..

Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
I think the skins will be very competitive in this game. We have all of our corners back in the line-up, its been a longtime since we've had that. That will allow Barry to be very aggressive in scheming ... I am hoping that Kerrigan/Murphy can get outside pressure, forcing Brady to climb the pocket where he is swallowed up by Hatcher/Pot Roast/Swaggy P. We all know that Brady doesn't like to get his jersey dirty, thats the only way to throw his game off.
Brady leaves the game in the 2nd quarter... Skins win 24-17 |

Re: Skins v. Pats Pregame Thread
I think it will be 17 - 24 point loss for the skins. It will be close until the 3rd quater and then NE skill an depth will pull away. The redskins will play hard and while they get beat, they will not give up and let it be a 52 - 7 type blow out.
KC will have 300 yards on 40 throws, 1 TD and two turnovers. He will have one long pass to DJax. We may have up to 50 yards running the ball. Reed will have favorable stats and be comparded to gronk. NE will take advantage and abuse the middle of the oline. |
