Re: First place Redskins
Honestly I would have never guessed it but this year shows fight and improvement. Will we win the east? Idk and hell we may be a 1 and done in the playoffs but this is a huge improvement. Going into December we control our destiny.

I Like That!
Yeah bro I was hoping 7-9 looks like we will be 8-8 at least. Should sweep dallas and beat philly again |
Re: First place Redskins
Winning just our division games may be enough to win the division. Giants will likely lose to the Vikings and Panthers, and the Jets is a hard matchup for them too.
|
Re: First place Redskins
I will save criticism for other threads related to the game. In here? WE CELEBRATE!
1st place baby! In December! |
Re: First place Redskins
Another impressive feat is the redskins seem to have home field back for the 1st time in many years. 5 straight home wins idk when that happened last?
|
Re: First place Redskins
I belief they will need 2 of remaining 3 road games...@chi, @phi and @dal
It would be a) hard to make playoffs with road record being less than 2-6 And b) while it would be nice to run the table at home. 7-1 would be great accomplishment but can't count on it...it is difficult. |
Re: First place Redskins
I wish we wouldn't play on Monday night, this team does better when flying under the radar and getting no respect.
|
Re: First place Redskins
Dallas can't score so that will help us, they do have a good defense though. Eagles we should beat, they have quit. Buffalo is ok nothing special. Bears are hot right now but they don't have a great defense either. I'd honestly say we should finish 3-2. That puts us at 8-8. Hopefully with a division championship
|
Re: First place Redskins
The schedule is definitely in our favor. Gotta win some road games, obviously, but not having to face teams like the Pats or Panthers will help. I'm calling 9-7.

Re: First place Redskins
Can't wait to tell Cowboys and Eagles fans to suck my mutherfuckin dick tomorrow at work

Yes! I do Like That! As I already mentioned, This is the first time in 3 years that the Redskins have shown some heart and desire to win! |
Re: First place Redskins
Looking at the schedule I definitely can see at least 4 wins.
Unfortunately Redskins only have 2 more home games so they will probably have to win at least 2 on the road to win the division. I look at the giants though and I think they have a harder schedule. The skins might only have to win 1 road game... if that. As far as I can tell the Redskins hold the tiebreaker as well unless they drop 2 division games. Redskins Schedule: vs. Dallas @ Bears vs. Bills @ Eagles @ Cowboys Giants Schedule: vs. Jets @ Dolphins vs. Panthers @ Vikings vs. Eagles |
Re: First place Redskins
Great win over the gnats !!! This team played very hard in the trenches , the young guys were running around and hitting all day . Alf ran hard , and Captain Kirk had another nice game . HAIL !!

That's awesome |
Re: First place Redskins
Where is skinsfan69? I need to hear how miserable it was to see the Skins take the division lead in person.
|
Re: First place Redskins
I think the skins and giants both finish 8-8 and it'll be ours due to better div record
|
Re: First place Redskins
I think we will have to win one or two on the road to make it to the playoffs.

Fed Ex is horrible. Fan base is a complete joke and should be ashamed of themselves. Today was obviously a big game and I'd say it was 40% Giants fans. Behind the Giants bench I'd say it was more 50/50. I just don't understand why so many fans from the other teams are taking over Fed Ex. WTF happened to our fans that use to be among the best in the league? That was embarrassing today. Also the dumb ass fans in 328 were yelling..'We want Dallas" while the game was still not even close to being won. Just a bunch of dumb ass clueless idiots. Other then that I enjoyed the hell out of myself. |

Re: First place Redskins
I will also say this.. and I hate bitching after such a great win. But Gruden and McVay are piss poor play callers. They call the game to get a few yards here and there, not to score points. The game today should not have even been close. Too many conservative calls throughout the game and NY was leaving our wr's on the outside 1 on 1 the majority of the game.
Plus Jackson is not even really a part of the offense. He wasn't even in the game that much. Grant might have had more snaps than Jackson. Why?? Have to drawn up more plays for him. Inexcusable. Really impressed with the way the secondary played. A lot more man to man bump and run. Great game plan by Barry. |

I understand that but today was for 1st place in the division. No excuse for that sorry ass shit. That was not a home field advantage at all. |

The let's go defense chants were incredibly loud while the Giants were on D. Had a blast but what a joke. I did enjoy asking several giants fans if they liked that throughout the walk to the car. Great game, let's keep it up down the stretch. |

Re: First place Redskins
I think part of the problem is that there are a lot DC residents that come from other states, and often they are ones that can afford the games.

Re: First place Redskins
The crowd sounded pretty good on TV for what it's worth.

You start to show tendencies if you play that game. D jax speed is threat enough on the field to hold the secondary attention...i.e. Spread the field to affect the run game. Grant blew a terrible block on a run where we should have gained a first but ended a 3 and out in the 3rd. |
Agreed. We actually came out on that first drive in the 3rd quarter aggressive and marched right down field but the drive stalled. After that, Gruden & McVay seemed to go into a shell and decided they would just try to slowly coast to a victory. That last drive where we were inside the Giants 20. Game was 17-0. It looked like we basically conceded kicking a FG there when a TD in all likelihood ends the game right then and there. Also, re: Jackson. I totally agree. That guy is a threat to take the ball to the house any time he touches it, so why not draw up more plays specifically for him? I appreciate how he can get behind a secondary, but his acceleration is also other-worldly and if you send him on a crossing pattern and let him catch it in space he is likely gone as well or at least down half the field. This was the point I was trying to make about Coordinators and the difference between designing an offense and being a good play caller. I don't think the Gruden/McVay combo has proved to be good at play calling as of yet. |

BUT Gruden said after the game that D. Carrier being hurt for some reason altered the personnel where they could do those plays. Not sure how that works, but agree we need more consistent downfield throws. Loved the win, loved the first three quarters. Hope we go into playoffs, but more realistically -- hope this carries over to next season with another good offseason, we could be on our way to being a good consistent team. BTW - we need a freaking running game. We did better but still struggled to run the ball again, with tons of zero-yard runs. We're built for a run-first offense but we're instead leaning too much on Kirk. He's done well but really need the run game to carry us. Recent games we've lost were the ones they stopped our run game & Kirk couldn't save us. |
