Who is your dream free agent?

Sup folks...now I know McC's philosophy so I don't need a lecture...but tell me who is the guy if Snyder came to u and said "Chico, I've instructed McC to let you handle getting the difference maker with this blank check. You are Vinny for a day"

Give me your one dream free agent for the team and then after your wet dream free agent choice, give me the one realistic free agent you like to see on the team.

My dream free agent: Muhammad Wilkerson. This guy would be the stud along the dline to take the defense to the next level. I got him over Miller and Jeffery.

The more realistic is ILB Danny Trevathan. He can cover, great tackler, and can get to the running back. I got him over Marvin Jones WR and Snacks Damon Harris NT

Who the f$ck do you got?

I would go this route but in the spirit of the exercise I think you have to eliminate anyone who won't hit free agency. Neither Miller nor Norman have any prayer of escaping the franchise tag.

So I'll go Trevathan. I would love Eric Berry or Wilkerson but even in this blank check scenario I'm exercising cap conscientiousness. I don't want to make it a tough decision to resign Reed and others, I love the draft your own and reward your own philosophy. In today's NFL it feels like it's the only way to build a close knit group.

I'd draft a corner and D line with my first and second rounder and I'd let Trevathan show the way for the MLBs.

Cheaters. You can't pick Von Miller or Josh Norman, you all know well and good they'll be franchised. At least you should know that or GTFO.

This thread gets boring fast if everybody gives an answer that literally can't happen.

Tramaine Johnson would be the guy I'd get if we moved on from culliver. He is probably gonna fall out of the realistic signings cause his deal is probably gonna be 40+ million.

Chris ivory pass...but his back up/change of pace battery mate bilal Powell wouldn't be a bad guy to bring in and compete for a roster spot behind jones.

That's why we're shooting high for some of these.

I agree that J Norman & V Miller will not be around to get...but, hey, it's a dream pick!

I like your preface. Any linebacker from Denver. Before I read your complete post, I was thinking Trevathan. I like Marvin Jones, but I hope we keep Jackson, Garcon, Crowder as our big 3 for next season. Jones is too expensive for a # 4 i'm assuming.

Won't complain about anyone on the offensive or defensive line.

1 or 2 solid free agents and another solid draft class, I'd take it!

I'd take him, but only if he'd take a 1 or 2 year deal. He can probably get more than that somewhere.

Marvin Jones would be the replacement or eventual replacement for Garcon.

Folks our WR position after this season isn't good. That's why if we take one in the second round this year it would be a zero surprise. Wil Fuller would be my choice.

Id like Marvin Jones, unfortunately WR position is thin in Free Agency and Jones is gonna get overpaid.

McC could go Kearse out of Seattle as a FA pick up... I wouldn't be mad.

People use common sense. Miller and Norman will be franchised.

I'd have to say Wilkerson. He would make everyone better on the front 7. Bring him in and then bring back Gallete, now we're on our way to being a lot more disruptive.

probably not, but I think Norman, Miller and Berry are locks not to see free agency. Wilkerson isn't a lock imo. I don't think Jeffery is a lock either.

The thing about Wilkerson is the number of free agents the Jets have to deal with...

And their depth along that line makes it such that paying a lot for Wilkerson may not make sense. Leonard Williams fell to them and they scooped him as BPA, but that was a luxury pick at an already loaded position for them.

Actually a decent list.

You know, Eric Weddle at FS with the connection with Joe Barry over Goldson? That is something I wouldn't be opposed to on a 1-2 year deal.

On paper I like the idea of Weddle, but two concerns. 1, would he really be that much cheaper on a one year deal than what we're about to pay Goldson, $8M? If anything Weddle might be pricier. Goldson is overpaid at that $8M figure but Weddle figures in line to get $8 - $10M on a one year deal.

Second concern, unless we're talking about a longer term and legitimate solution, I hesitate to let Goldson walk because of the impact it has on the locker room. I hated the Vinny culture, let our own players go and bring in the new hot free agent. It especially hits morale in the locker room when it happens to a highly respected player like Goldson.

I like the culture you breed when you draft your own and care for your own. Granted Goldson wasn't drafted but he's respected, and I want our young guys to have good examples to look up to, and I want them to see those kinds of guys being rewarded.

It's a philosophy that doesn't pay off on paper with talent but it pays off in the form of culture, work ethic, and attitude. If the next Sean Taylor was hitting free agency then it'd be different, but for Weddle at this stage of his career? I don't know.

Yeah I'd agree. Considering Weddle's price and age, might as well just stick with Goldson another year and try to restructure him.
But you think Wilkerson will see FA?
I don't think the Jets can keep everyone on their d-line. That would be a lot of money tied up in the same area. They could franchise Wilkerson but that would be a ton of money for them. They're going to have to pay Fitzpatrick so I see them letting go of someone possibly. I'd pass on Richardson. Maybe their NT Harrison is put out on the market. I'd take him as well.

When we played the Jets I just remember them really pushing our o-line around. They had a real impressive D-line.

Their D-Line kick our ass especially in the running game. Just looking at stats, their NT Harrison was second on the team in tackles that day.

Their fuckin NT was second on the team in tackles, let that sink in. I forget who was getting their ass handed to them at center...either Kory or LeTurd-eus.

wow, I knew it was a bad day, but that is pretty pathetic.

NT Harrison of the Jets would be a nice addition if the price is right. Add a first round D-Lineman - then the DL would be young and talented. Let Knighton and Hatcher go.

Re: Who is your dream free agent?

Nothing but garbage in free agency at the Center position. Stefen Wisnewski of the Jags is the best of the bunch. Solid pass protector, pretty average run blocker. Not a fit for what McC would like to do in the middle of the line - find bad ass maulers who are huge and physical.

Moving Long over might be worth a shot but I'm underwhelmed by that idea, he was just OK as a guard so the idea that he'd be better than OK at center seems unlikely to me. We have OK in Kory L, we need better than that.

Gotta go draft at Center in that 2nd or 3rd round. I hope they do.
