Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork

Conditional 7th round pick and Keim states he should push immediately for the starting job. Skins like him. Thoughts? Confirms Kory l is done...he was terrible last year. |
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
i thought we'd put in a waiver request, let's see what develops here. seems like a loose cannon
|
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
Low risk trade IMO. Stork was very decent in New England, hoodie has zero patience...I dunno but the skins struggled at center last year and long's best use is LG.
Best part is legrimace is effing gone. Win for the skins |

Leribeus...always thought he looked and played like grimace from McDonaldland |
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
Saw he was likely going to be cut and figured we would try and claim him. A conditional 7th is a half step up from a waiver request - if we get a quality starting center for a 7th round pick, that's a win.
He had some concussion issues last year and seems to be a hot head. However, he did win the starting job for them two years ago as a rookie 4th round pick. (Per Wikipedia, last year, the day after he came off of the Short Term - IR, he played in the game against us at right guard and tackle due to injuries along NE's line). |

If he is, then c'est la vie. Not worth bringing a guy who doesn't want to play. |
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
A known hothead gets told he's been traded, and his response is I quit. I think he just needs a day or so to relax.
|
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
He should retire a Redskin
|
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
<sigh> Got my hopes up.
He had a series of concussions. Given the number of folks who have done the same recently, it would not be to surprising if he did. One of the commenters to one of the twitter links said "So, apparently, the 'conditional' part of the 7th rounder was him not retiring." |
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
does anyone know where to find the current waiver order?

Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
Well he's probably better than anyone we currently have, which isnt saying too much. Kory, Lerib, Long...all atrocious.. I like this move if he can stay healthy and wants to play. However, NE isn't going to get the short end of a trade. He must really be garbage in camp if they're trading him for a 7th.

Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
Before stork thinks about retiring, he may want to speak to McC and Bill Callahan. I gotta feeling they may change his mind
|
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
deal went through

Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
I also want to know the "source" saying he's contemplating retirement...
|
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
so which lineman do they keep ?

I pasted this in the other thread, but I found it at CBS Sports.... Bryan Stork reportedly mulling retirement after trade from Patriots to Redskins - CBSSports.com |
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
Oh, sorry, I mean the actual source, not the news article. All the articles I've read say a "source" say he's contemplating retirement. Gimme' dat source! :D
Also, the DC media has to be popping the biggest boners ever. I think easily twelve articles were written about this the past two hours. |
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
So, no Stork coming to town? Apparently he did not participate in the Pats offseason conditioning program, which tarnished his image with the coaching staff. Here's a pic of him from early August.

Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
If the guy gives us one good game its better than a LATE seventh rounder, (notice the optimism) , never even sniffing the field. Hope he stays healthy, keeps his head on straight, and makes the Pats regret it.

I dont see us trading picks for a guy unless we lack serious depth or the franchise believes he will make an immediate impact. I see him starting week 1. Litch or Leribeus days are numbered. |
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
Bill Callahan has a legit starting 5 now...time to work your magic
|
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
So is he retiring or not?
|
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
Even though he may be better than what we have, my expectations are real low. Apparently he was being beat out by an undrafted free agent. There's are reason he was basically traded for a ham sandwich.

Callahan, new team and this guy already has nasty streak with a chip on shoulder....my only concern is the health. Redskins' Bryan Stork has 'mean streak, health questions, versatility' - Washington Redskins Blog- ESPN Stork is head and shoulders above our existing talent at center, easily |
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
Plus he's still young, not sure what's not to like, low risk move with a lot of upside.
|
Re: Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
It's low risk which is good, but just not expecting much at this point. The nasty streak is fine but when he starts costing the team with 15 yarders then that isn't good. We shall see if he can get back to where he was as a rookie, but nice job by SM to try and upgrade a terribly weak position. Tired of watching Lich get mauled. And Lerib is a effing disaster.

My expectations aren't any lower with him than they were with Lich. His history of concussions is a real concern, but there are a ton of very good undrafted free agents out there, so I wouldn't put too much stock into who his replacement is in NE. My guess is it's probably a combination of what he brings to the locker room and the concern over his overall health that brought about NE's willingness to trade him for basically nothing, more than it was his talent. As has been said already - low risk, high reward move. I hope he stays healthy and quickly gels with the current starters. |
Redskins trade for Center Bryan Stork
It's real simple, Stork >> Lichtensteiger.
Next topic. |

This is the best point written so far. The potential upside is so much greater than a 7th rounder. Is the 7th round pick a conditional pick? |
