The after London semi-meltdown thread.
Wow, highly entertaining game.
This was a glass half full game as far as I'm concerned. Cousins threw the ball away a lot but did little to no stupid things. No to mention the 458 yards passing. Crowder 107 yards Reed 99 yards. And old man Davis with with 93. Kelly with 87 yards and a TD. Nice job young man. The defense gave up a lot but delivered at crucial times. Nice to see Barry blitzing a bit. We didnt get a W because of penalties. Almost half of them on Norman. |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
This team has a lot of potential, but needs a few more pieces in place to be a complete team. We need to cut the chaffe on the lines and rely on the draft.
|
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
Feeling lucky to come out of that game with the tie, all those penalties on us made me feel like we were giving the game away. I hope Morgan Moses is alright, that didn't look good. Josh Norman get your shit together. Idc about the dropped picks because I think he's still dealing with a wrist injury. But those hands to the face penalties were ridiculous.

Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
Positives: Everything besides McVays red zone play calling, Hopkins being a scared pussy, and the refereeing.
For the most part I'm happy with how the guys played, minus our kicker. |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
I think we need to draft another
WR as well. We are going to dump one of the vets and Coshcton might not live up to his first round hype, much less stay on the field. |

Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
Can I go out and get drunk for the rest of the games if we tie? I'm torn. Damn tie, so confused emotionally.
|
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
We know Hopkins is normally reliable, I think his confidence is shaken right now. He just needs to get back into the right frame of mind and we should be alright. He used to be automatic under 50.
As for the WR's, if Jackson's second half of the season is like the first they might not resign him, but I like Crowder where he's at. Having a dangerous slot receiver is a great weapon. Ryan Grant can go, I have yet to see anything I like from him. And I seriously can't believe people are already giving up on Doctson, like literally have you ever dealt with an Achilles injury before? That's one of the worst injuries a football player can have. I think they were hoping it would heal and he could play this year but it's not surprising at all that it isn't healing the way they were hoping it would. |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
The referees missed a flying missile into the side of Jackson's head, that knocked him out of the game, and Crowder almost getting his neck broke, but somehow they were able to see the smallest most minuscule contact on Garcon for the softest penalty in NFL history. Just amazing. The NFL better say something about this game. Gooddell, do something you bum.

There is just no excuse for a pro kicker to miss that. None! Agree, injuries happen, and we don't "need" him right now anyways. I'm excited to see him play next year. Get that thing in a boot and get it right. |

I would be tempted to let them both walk. We need youth and speed. Jackson hasn't done much to justify a big pay day, but he might just want to leave. |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
Team isn't going anywhere this year. Less impressed than most here...penalties, red zone offense and throwing 56 times a game equals loss. We beat this team today but too dumb to win

Garcon is one of my favorite players and he'll be less expensive than he is this year, I hope we keep him, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were both gone. Thanks Scott for drafting Crowder, he is excellent. |

Seriously now, what happens if he gets hurt again next preseason and you have lost at least one starting receiver or two? |

We're not winning the SB. But making the playoffs 2 years in a row would be excellent progress. So that's what I want. This tie might haunt us later. We need to run the ball more. Gotta keep pounding it even if it doesn't work immediately. Both to have the run be a threat and to wear down their front 7. |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
we should have won yet another game, all 4 games that we have not won, only 1 game was a sure loss. We could be 7-1 right now. It happens, overall the team fights hard and u cant complain about that. Kirk played a good def today and lit them up. Hop has to make that kick. the tie always helps the teams over .500. Bengals gotta be sick that they didn't win after being up 20-10.
4-3-1 is better than 4-4 |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
We just don't know how to win. Coaches and players. We are getting there. We are better than last year, but the record may not show it. The last two weeks have been brutal.

Well I assume Scot McC. will do what he does every year and improve the team if he sees an opportunity to do so. And if he doesn't, then *gasp* we might actually ask Doctson to be a reliable player because we're counting on him. And if he gets injured again then *double gasp* hopefully our depth will step up, just like Vernon Davis did the last two weeks, and the way Robert Kelley did today with Matt Jones out! |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
It is always something isn't it? Do enough on O and D to win the kicker misses a chip shot. Its just never ending.

Nothing personal but "we just don't know how to win" literally two weeks after winning 4 in a row. I know we're 0-1-1 the last two weeks but seriously? |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
Norman really had a rough go with the holding. Plus the three misses.
Preston Smith play today? FU Hopkins you little shit you suck. Really questionable play calling. Breeland is working his way out of a job. Cousins, Crowder, and Reed. Man I hope I can say that for years to come. Bye coming at a perfect time. Lets get healthy and win some games down the stretch. Namely because if we win one redskin1980 has to go away forever but also it could get us into the playoffs.... |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
If I'm Gruden I'm taking the fine and saying "that was the worst damn officiating I've ever seen, the crew and the NFL should be absolutely embarrassed and ashamed."
|
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
If you had told me that Cousins would throw for nearly 200 more net yards than Dalton, we'd win the turnover battle, we'd go 100 yards on the ground, we'd win time of possession, Cousins would get sacked only once, we'd have 3 receivers over 90 yards, we'd have only 1 turnover total (a bomb that is picked on third and very long -- basically, a punt to the Bengals 14 yard line), we'd have 3 sacks of our own, including a sack-fumble -- I'd say we'd score close to 40 points and run away with it.
Nope. Not this team. We mush have the lowest points to yards ratio in history. Our red zone offense is putrid. And coaching is a real part of that. DARE TO BE GREAT, GENTLEMEN! Seriously, I beg you. |

I agree. The call on Garcon was painful to see and consequential to the game. We had two defensive holding calls that were likewise astonishingly bad. And yet the Bengals can do cheap stuff that can get guys hurt and get away with it most of the time. |

The league gets the results it wants. Sports is money and that is the end in itself. The whole thing is rigged somewhat to maximize rating, etc. Do you really think the kneeling stuff alone is responsible for the loss of TV ratings? More folks are waking up to the fact that it is almost a scam. The product if you want to call it that, quite frankly sucks. |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
We're on pace for a record that would normally qualify for the playoffs or would be really close and we made it last year. We're playoff caliber I'd say.
|
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
Penalties killed us today, 5 on Norman alone, ridiculous!! We have to stop beating ourselves. Special team also sucked today.
|
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
Those calls onNorman were pretty much legit, but the one against Garcon must have been one of those phantom calls that kept the Skins from driving for the winning score. Most calls are legit, but too many are made out of the air and are momentum changers.

Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
Very fitting ending, neither team deserved the W. Too many mistakes, missed opportunities, penalties, etc.
Sucks but it beats losing at least. |

My question is? Where has Cravens been the last 2 weeks? Are they being cautious after the concussion? Kid has to play.

Wouldn't help more than a win. I just can't believe Hopkins choking and the call on Garcon. Going to have nightmares tonight. We are 5-3 if our kicker could make a 34 yarder. |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
Oh and now we're in last place, awesome.

In our division, by winning % we are in last place now. I'm actually rooting for the Eagles tonight. Still going for 1st place. |
