Vikings Pre game thread
HUGE and I mean HUGE game Sunday! Min is really bad on offense BUT... we are very AVG on def..
Keys to the game 1. Pass Pro (NO TW is a huge ?) 2. Off must score in the RZ every trip down. 3. Get to Bradford, they have a bunch of holes on the OL and our pass rush should take over. Overall I think if we are a playoff team we will win this game at home. Skins 26 Viks 17 Cousins 285 yards 2tds Reed 88 yards 1 td DJAX 75 yard TD catch in the first qtr |
Re: Vikings Pre game thread
Redskins 28
Vikings 17 Crowder 111 yards 1 TD Reed 114 yards 1 TD Kelly 103 yards 1 TD |

Our offense is our strength, the defense needs to step it up. It is time for Norman to get a pick or two and have the pass rush register 6+ sacks! !!! |
Re: Vikings Pre game thread
Cousins is going to have to be solid under pressure. Good defensive front, down Trent Williams, he's going to need to avoid the brain fart and stare down the gun barrel.

Re: Vikings Pre game thread
Watched the lions @ vikings game.
Their offense is pretty weak but not as weak as the score suggests. Kicker Walsh let them down big time, a missed extra point and a blocked field goal (not entirely on him) cost them a lot. As said, if Barry brings pressure, will be alright, our D can handle them. They did a great job against the really good Bengals offense, while Norman was coming back from a concussion, and dealing with a wrist injury I hope he healed since. Their D was looking pretty good, against a not so good offense. Stafford had some clutch moments, including the final drive, as often. Let's see if Callahan can help this O-line work efficiently without TW. |
Re: Vikings Pre game thread
I just want a win....I don't care how it is achieved...I don't care how bad anybody plays....I just want a W after these last 2 brutal games.

This. Just need a W. Don't care if it's 10-7 or 6-3...just win! |

Offense
I believe the Skins will have problems with the Vikings pass rush. They're going to miss TW. To alleviate this expected problem, I would like to see the Skins take the approach that the Colts took last week against the Packers. Andrew Luck looked for his first option and if it wasn't open he threw the ball away. He did not hold the ball. He lived to fight another down and avoided negative yardage. Also, our OL, TE's, and, yes, even WR's have got to stop taking so many procedure penalties. This has hurt us throughout the season. To net it out, avoid negative yardage on offense to win. Defense On defense, I think the key will be to get to Bradford early and often. That's because I think Bradford can be rattled and, although he has started the season well, his true identity is as a choke artist. If there was ever a game where exotic blitzes can rule the day, this is it. I would draw up something with S'ua Cravens on the first Vikings series, if not the first Vikings play - and I'd make sure they got the ball first. They may run the ball on us a lot but they'll have to pass sometimes. I want Bradford to be scared every time he drops back to pass. Sooner or later, he'll panic and give us a key turnover. |

Bradford can be a really good QB behind a great O-line, but as soon as things get tricky, he chokes. Of course KC will have some bad throws at times, some of them at critical points. But he's able to deliver under pressure. Against the Bengals, 1:56 left in regulation, we're down 3 points, ball on their 42, 3 and 13, 8 men blitz, Kirk completes it to Crowder and get blasted. How many QBs make this throw? |

No, he's not Jackson, but he's a big, fast TE. We'll probably see more two-TE sets, then we've used all season, on Sunday. Rotate Grant and Ross, as well. |

Re: Vikings Pre game thread
Definitely need Hopkins to get his.confidence back on track...
O line really needs to step up and our gameplan needs to dictate their pass rush, not the other way around. We will see if Jay and Co are up to the task. I want to see alot of movement on offense, we will need to confuse the defense, i really think its time we take charge of the game pace and LOS on both sides of the ball.. take some shots deep early maybe. Make them stay out of the box so we can run the ball and set up Cousins on the PA game... On D we have seen the blueprint for beating the vikings... DO NOT GIVE BRADFORD TIME... period. If the eagles beat this team up defensively and we dont i will be dissapointed and again let down by Joe Barry who if i had my way would be sent packing end of season if not sooner. Tough game, i hope we dont lose or tie. |

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
I been saying that. He's not that big physically and can't take the pounding, always hurt. He's not going to get the big money he wants. If he agrees to a cap friendly number then maybe keep him. |

Ditch him. We need a youth movement if we are going to build a winner. You also have to think about the possibility of Doctson not working out as well. I would draft another Wr in the 6 or 7th rounds, then look at some UFAs. I am not giving up on Josh, but if he can't make it through next preseason without another Achilles injury, I am inclined to think he is going to be a walking injury and not worth keeping around. Grant needs to go, and maybe even Ross, even though I always am pulling for him to get his chance. Pierre can stay, but I would love to have some really young WR studs. |

I sure hope he can stay, to me he's our most precious receiver, doing all the dirty work, reliable as hell, I can't remember him dropping a ball, tough after the catch... Not flashy but a guy like this is gold. |

Dropped endzone TD a few weeks ago. |
Re: Vikings Pre game thread
I'm about done with D-Jax as well. Which now means he'll come back next week and have a huge second half of the season.
The Redskins need this win! This is a big time game! |
Re: Vikings Pre game thread
It'll be interesting to see how much intermediate space we have without Jackson clearing it out deep. Ross has the speed to do it too but he doesn't adjust nearly as well as Jackson does.

He's plenty capable if he has time. If he gets hit hard a few times he pretty much checks out. Barry has to get after him. |
Re: Vikings Pre game thread
Without Trent and Desean ... yeesh. Why couldnt these guys miss a game when we play pedestrian defenses.
Vikings D - 2nd in total yards, 4th in avg pass yds/game, 8th in av run yds/game. They are also 2nd in total takeaways (10 ints, 7 fumble). On offense they are tied for 1st w the least giveaways (1 int, 4 fumbles). Good news - their offense is caught in an anemic last 3 games. They also are avg 2.7 yds/run which would be a record low since the advent of the Superbowl. This game is on Barry imo. He has to take advantage of a one dimensional team. He has to make sure he doesnt let the Vikings run game suddenly become effective against us. Good coaching wins this game for us. Skins 24 Vikings 17 |
Re: Vikings Pre game thread
Redskins coach Jay Gruden said receiver DeSean Jackson is listed as doubtful for Sunday. If he can't play then Rashad Ross would be active. Jamison Crowder can play in Jackson's spot in a two-receiver set.
Per keim. Interesting to note, grant was the guy who backed up djax in 2 receiver sets...little bit of a promotion |
Re: Vikings Pre game thread
“Yeah, he was getting checked out today, got some extra treatment. Got the MRI, we got the results and he’s just dealing with a little bit of pain right now.”
On if there is hope Jackson will practice tomorrow and play Sunday: “Yeah, we’ll see. We’ll see how he’s doing. I think that will be on him.” Quotes: Head Coach Jay Gruden, DC Joe Barry, OC Sean McVay (11-10-2016) Thats clear coach speak that "Desean should play but if he wants to be a bitch, thats on him." |

Re: Vikings Pre game thread
The pessimist in me says of course this will be the game Minnesotas offense gets right and they're able to outscore us. However I do think we're the better team so I'll say we win something like 30-17. Cousins and the passing offense have moved the ball against anybody and everybody, I dont see Minnesota being the one to shut them down. And if our defense is back to creating turnovers, this could be really long day for Bradford
|
Re: Vikings Pre game thread
Vikings have been missing their LT and RT, that plus no AP. They been on a tailspin since losing those OL.
