Redskins at Cardinals pre game
This will be a tough one imo. Arizona's defense is first in yards allowed and eleventh in points allowed. David Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald on offense are two great players going against probably our biggest defensive weaknesses, our rush defense and nickle corner. We need to either sit Fuller this game and give someone else a shot (Will Blackmon, maybe Toler) or give him some help. Some INTs from Palmer would be nice (11 on the year), but our secondary seems allergic to catching balls
I don't feel good about this one, but I'll say Redskins, 28-20 |

The last time these two teams met, Cousins was a pick throwing machine. If I'm not mistaken, he was benched after the Cardinals game. I think he's motivated to pick 'em apart. Arizona is regressing and the Redskins are on an upward trend. Redskins will win. |

Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
23 - 16, Skins.
Cardinals are tough on defense, they stop the run well and they can rush the passer. We'll need our tackles to be on point, but we score enough. Where they have trouble this year is pass protection. Palmer is one of the more sacked QBs in the league. This game is all about Kerrigan, Murph, Preston and Baker. Get to Palmer and we win. |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
One thing that's nice is to finally play a QB who is not mobile at ALL. He stands like a statue back there.

Yes. Good call. It was gut punches watching Rodgers and Dak stand back, see everyone covered then just run the 15 yards of wide open green grass. Do you think teams scheme that when they know we will only be rushing 4? The send everyone long and if a guys open, great pass it. If not, the QB knows he has 10-15 yards of wide open field to run. It seems that way imo. I thought that is where Cravens would be helpful. I know we started to shadow Dak late in the Dallas game, after the damage was already done. |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
Luckily, I was reading somewhere we'll use Cravens to shadow Johnson since Palmer runs a 7.4 40.
|
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
I will literally rip my eyeballs out if we watch Palmer run in for a touchdown. Whenever Eli does it to us, I lose my shit!
|
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
Stop David Johnson and we win.

Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
We are going to knock the snot out of their statue of a quarterback and they have not seen an offense like ours.

Agreed, and because they're very much a downfield passing team, it's all about the trench matchup, because Palmer will just sit and sit back there. We can get to him, big time. I want 5+ sacks. |

hope for the best. thats all i can say.

I would agree with that. Their line has dealt with so many injuries. Against Atlanta they shuffled their line around and it looked better, but the Falcons teed off in the fourth quarter during obvious passing situations and Palmer went 9-20. Their starting RT was just signed off the Dolphins' practice squad a few weeks ago. They moved DJ Humphries from RT to LT when that acquisition was made. He has pedigree, he was a 1st rounder. But he's still playing out of position. It'd be like us moving Moses from RT to LT. We'd feel nervous until he proved he was solid. It's a situation where we should be able to win off the edge. If we don't, then it will make Arians look like a genius for tweaking the lineup. |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
If we can stop the run and get to Palmer I think we will be fine. Cards have a good defense but even with Reed out we still have options.

Thats the formula for every game isnt it?:) I dont see it happening. We dont have a magic pill for the defense thats going to fix it,Johnson has been the best back in the league since he became a starter. If we can get lucky and get some leads and Johnson doesnt get many carries then thats the only way I see us stopping him. Palmer is old but he's still capable of having a great game, especially against our defense.I wont be shocked if we win by any stretch, but I'm more inclined to go with Az at home in this one.We have to get tds in the red zone, and thats another thing we need a magic pill for, because we dont capitalize when we have those opportunities. |

Not surprised. The move picking up Vernon Davis in the offseason has looked mighty genius on the part of Scot McCloughan! |

2016 NFL Team Passing Stats - National Football League - ESPN I think it will be a good litmus test for Barry and our DL. No reason to not get pressure this game .... unless Barry rushes 4 and plays a conservative soft coverage thinking our offense will score enough to win, all he has to do is limit the Cards to mid 20 pts or less. Which would kinda suck but Ill take results over looks. |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
Not sure I trust our defense on the road. Actually I don't trust them.
Cards 31 Skins 24 |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
Palmer blows, he's not the same guy he was the last couple of years.

Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
He does blow. Ever since that meltdown he had in the NFC Championship he's been on the decline. Hoping we can turn him over a few times.

Yeah I actually don't want him to play, don't want him to aggravate a shoulder injury. We're not talking about a finger or even an ankle, shoulder injury is not something you just strap and forget, playing through the injury against the Cowboys was pretty heroic enough, give him a rest.
This will be a tough one imo. Overall I think we'll be fine. Their defense really didn't look that good against the Falcons, and I think we can show our offense is the same caliber. |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
Winnable game if we score early and contain David Johnson. If we keep it close or fall behind, the Cards are just going to run DJ all over us.

Certain games have that "this is the game that gets us over the brink - we finally win the big one." Usually nationally televised, almost always divisional or against a division leader and you're predictions are invariably prefaced by "This is THE game we've been waiting for, the game we put it all together when everything is on the line" or words to that effect and then ... we don't. We need this game but it is not on the level of magnitude as the Dallas game. I think we win and do so convincingly. They're rested, they're back is against the wall, and they are anxious wipe the stink of losing off their jerseys. 31 - 21. |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
We're probably going to need to score 30 points to win. That's a tall order against the Cardinals who have a strong defense. I'm hoping for a Skins win but I wouldn't bet on it.
Guys, think I should start Fat Rob for fantasy?
I have the last few weeks. Doing it this week as well. I had AP ... juggling fat rob, matthews, crowell ... After listening to Cooleys take this AM, im kinda worried about the Cards. 1. They run the ball. Im still not convinced our run D is fixed, just hasnt been tested/exposed as much. Looking at his carries, the Cards dont run him more than 20 times or so, so that is good. 2. Rb David Johnson is not only one of the best RB but he is also heavily used as a pass catcher out of the backfield and as Palmers dump off. He already has 55 catches and I dont trust any of our LBs to have awareness or ability to shadow him. Would love to see Cravens used creatively here. 3. DL - Cooley said they have a really good interior pass rush and up the middle is where we are weak and where Kirk seems to be flustered the most. 4. D scheme disguises - seems like Mathieu does a Palamolu where he appears to be playing in one spot pre snap then totally runs to another spot post snap. I think Cousins struggles with well disguised D schemes bc he relies so heavily on his ability to read the D pre-snap. |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
Guys, think I should start Fat Rob for fantasy?
I wouldn't, Cards have a good defense. I know our offense is good but idk that our offense is "can easily run roughshod over a good defense good." And idk why anyone would start Fat Rob if they expected an average game out of him at best. |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
What worries me most about this game is that the Cards have some real playmakers (Johnson, Fitzgerald, Mathieu) and they must be furious that their season has gone so poorly, and desperate to do something about it. We have got to come out fast and keep the pressure on. If we can get out to a lead and force Palmer to throw a lot, we can win this game. But if Johnson and their D are pounding away at us all game, it could be problematic. They're well coached too.
With AZ, CAR, CHI, PHI, and NYG left, I think we really have to win at least 3 to get to the playoffs. Four or five would make it a certainty (or near certainty). It needs to start this week -- AZ is obviously a beatable team. Get after Palmer, get a lead early, and keep the foot on the gas. |

This game will be no picnic, let's hope Carson Palmer is in a holiday spirit and throws some int's.

And that one was only a picnic for the last ten minutes, before that it was a close game. I certainly wouldn't expect any more picnics this year, although if it did happen it would be great. |

I agree with you. I wouldn't call this one a trap game, but the Cardinals could be super pissed off and come out and thrash us if we aren't careful. I worry greatly with our defense because Arizona will score at least 24 points, we are going to have to match them score for score. We can do it. |
Re: Redskins at Cardinals pre game
Oh it's definitely a code fucking red nervous nellie scared-ass steve trap game. Even Admiral Ackbar is shitting in his boots. You guys really think it took 12 weeks for the Cards to get pissed off?
