Opponents for the 2017 Season
Home opponents: Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders.
Away opponents: Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, San Diego Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints. Washington Redskins Home and Away Opponents List for 2017 - Holy Cow! Look at our opponents for next season. We had better fix the defense! Yikes! Only two that I find remotely comfortable are the Rams and the 49ers. I realize things can change from season to season, but my gosh, Seahawks, Chiefs, and Saints away? I hope we fix our defense in the offseason! |
Re: Opponents for the 2017 Season
Yep but four of those teams don't even have a head coach as of today and the Saints defense is not that strong. Skins still have much to improve on before taking anyone for granted.

Re: Opponents for the 2017 Season
Vikings and Saints (our 2 unique teams) are about like us, they will be a good test of whether we improve or not. Otherwise neither the NFC or AFC West divisions are killers. If we resolve some defensive issues, and generally improve in the 3rd yr of this system we ought to be a true contender. Sucks that its 9 months till the season starts...

Redskins play out in Socal twice next year. Sweet, going to at least 1 live game in 2017.

A lot can change and will by next year.

It is harder than this year!!! Not good if we don't upgrade the defense and get a real running game going.

There is no way of knowing what the next year team strengths will be. I dont think these opponents look anything near as intimidating as our schedule did last year at this time. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk |

This is great! Hopefully the Bolts are still playing in "The Murph". |
Re: Opponents for the 2017 Season
Just looking at the schedule from this season's perspective, it's pretty intimidating. A lot can happen between now and next season, certainly. Still, it doesn't look like a cream puff schedule by any means - except for the 49ers and Rams.
Would be interesting if we wind up playing a Rams team coached by Sean McVay! |

The 1st goal is to not get stabbed by the dumb California gang banger fans that show up. 2nd goal, win. Lol. |

Technically, we had a first place schedule, but it's not the same as the first place schedule from years ago. Our schedule was the same, as our NFC East brethren, outside of us playing Arizona and Carolina. |

Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
My point is I've seen some people on multiple forums talk about the Redskins played a first place schedule. It's conveyed as if our schedule was tougher than our NFC East brethren's. I'm not saying the poster whom I initially responded to was trying to convey that message, but just stating what I've been reading. Yes, technically, we did play a first place schedule. But, our schedule was the same as the rest of the NFC East, outside of Arizona and Carolina. Those being the first place teams, respectively, in the NFC West and South, a season ago. I just think the first place schedule talk is overplayed. It's not the same as a first place schedule from years past. That's my point. |

My point was that from where we were a few years back, we played a "1st place schedule" which everyone agreed looked tough at the beginning of the season, and we lost our unique 2 games. NYG for example won their 2 unique games so adjusting for that against the 14 same scheduled games we were a FG away from having the same record as them. That is definitely an improved team even with our 3rd down defense and rz offense AND defense issues. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk |

Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
Understandable. I do believe we're improving, although the record didn't exactly say so, this season. Now, if we're in the same position a season from now, then I may change my tune. Otherwise, if we add the necessary defensive personnel, then I think we can turn the corner, per 'se, next season. Another thing that's been noted in this thread. Those schedules tend to "adjust," as the season progresses. Who looked tough may not be so tough, and who didn't look tough may end up looking tough. Then again, our team could be scrubs, and everybody is tough. Or, a better scenario, where we're the bullies on the block, and the overall schedule isn't so daunting. |
