2017 Draft Prospects
I paid very little attention to college football this year so I just wanna know what you more knowledgeable folks know. Who are the best players coming out, who are the players you want the Skins to draft?
|
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
Demarcus Walker is my favorite, but Solomon Thomas is pretty good also. I think both should be available around the time they pick, Thomas is getting more attention now though.
|
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
Yea he is starting to get some attention but at pick 17 I dont think Solomon Thomas will be there.
He looks fairly monstrous in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl3EAGuIZLs |
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
Taco Charlton MICH, thats who I want in the 1st.
Montravious Adams is my 2nd option so far |
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
Jamal Adams.

Excellent answer, Thomas had 1 sack, several hurries, and 9 tackles in his bowl game. Before the game it appeared he would be available at # 17. It looks like a decent D line class, so a good one should be available. The mock drafts are all over the place. And the combine has a big impact on picks, so it is still early. Also will the new coach play a 4-3 ? Are they looking to replace Baker, or play next to him ? or a DE to replace Smith ? Here is a good list; WalterFootball.com: 2017 NFL Draft: Defensive End Rankings |
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
I like all the players everyone else above mentioned. I'd take any of them. Although, is Adams more of a SS type? If so we might not need him if Cravens is moving there. Or can he play FS too?

Watched a little of him against FSU and was not impressed. People are saying he could go first overall? I dont see it. Switzer though from UNC.. guy's a baller |

here is a possible solution to the QB problem with pick #17

Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
Watching Foster, Allen, and Williams played last night has me impressive with the Alabama defensive prospects. I really like both Foster and Allen.
I guess my dream top 5 right now are: Foster Thomas Allen Adams Williams |

Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
Players I have watched that I want at some point in the draft (I realize at least two out of the three are very unlikely):
1. Dalvin Cook, FSU 2. Solomon Thomas, Stanford 3. Demarcus Walker, FSU |

If we could get Cook in the first and Walker in the second, I would take that. I know we need defense (desperately), but our red zone efficiency (and offense in general) improves 5x with Dalvin. |
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
Dalvin Cook is the best player in the draft. If he's there at 17, I'd jump all over him.

The defensive talent in the first round looks good so far. I also believe we need to go defense in the first round. I think we could still pick up a decent RB in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Maybe a Perine, Gallman, Foreman, or Conner. |
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
We are not taking a RB in the first round.
And I've had enough of RBs that fumble. |
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
With the holes they made for Kelley, even Cook couldn't find extra room. In fact, I imagine he'd find less since he's not as physical.

If we are looking for a good RB for later Rds, we could always look at Matt Dayes from NC State, as a Wolfpack fan, this may be somewhat a homer pick, but I think he has the potential to be a great NFL back.....first Rds need to focus completely on defense! |
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
I definitely watch a lot of ACC football too and if we're going to poach a back in the later rounds: James Conner. Dude is an absolute monster.
|
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
He runs REALLY upright like Eddie George, but I haven't seen a more physical back in a long time.
|
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
Malik McDowel
Solomon Thomas Rueben Foster Derek Barnett OJ Howard Carlos Watkins |

|
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
I'm a fan of OJ Howard. Similar to Reed in that he's too big and physical for safeties and too athletic for linebackers. Love his run after catch skills. The one game I really watched him in besides highlight videos was Auburn and he threw some nice really blocks in that game, so he's not just a pass catcher. But I dunno how consistent his blocking is, he had a whiff or two as well

if Connor passes a thorough physical, I would consider him in the 5th round.... even if you use him solely in short yardage / goal line situations he would be very valuable I can see 2 RBs being drafted |

Word. Probably right. The 2 RBs are hype? |
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
Foxsports.com mock draft
DeShaun Watson - QB - Clemson This totally depends on how contract negotiations go with Kirk Cousin, obviously, but if Cousins is franchise tagged for a second year or signs elsewhere, Watson, who showed a lot of guts in the National Championship Game, would be a great fit here. (Washington could also go with Jabrill Peppers in this spot — there are few teams that could assimilate him easily, and Jay Gruden’s team is one of them.) Needs: Safety, linebacker, defensive line, running back Thoughts? |

And I've had enough of RBs that fumble.
I'm a FSU fan, I've seen a lot of Cook. He's a freaking game changer. Best player in the draft if you ask me. He doesn't have fumbling problems. Just YouTube the Orange Bowl and watch him turn 3rd and 21 into a 71 yard run and 1 inch away from a TD. If we have Cousins locked up and he's there at 17 I'd cry if we didn't get him. And it's not like it's not a position of need. We need another back. |

For our sake, I like that mock. But then RG!!! starts for Cleveland next year? |

Cook is a beast. No doubt about that and I believe he could boost our running game. He has a great attitude and plays hard every down but in my opinion, there so much rich defensive talent in the first round and I don't see how we can afford not to take a defensive talent in the first round. I think the defensive line and secondary has to be our two biggest needs to fill in the first two or three rounds. |

Kinda similar to what I said responding to your Cook comment. I think we should be thinking defense but if we don't have Cousins' then that might change the whole mind set of what we will need in the first round. |

There are definitely arguments to going defense at 17. But if either of those guys are there they'd be the BPA at that point. |
Re: 2017 Draft Prospects
FWIW reportedly Alabama OLB/DE Tim Williams failed several drug tests..... his stock is dropping.

Solomon Thomas should be the pick....unless you have to trade up to get him
