Lotta good players, Mixon would be hard to pass up(cringes).

Re: 2017 Draft 2nd Round Pick Options
Mixon or BPA on defense
Obi Melinfowu, Kevin King, Chris Wormley, Malik
McDowell or Buddah Baker.
Any of those players would suit me. Of these, I'd prefer McDowell or Wormley. For once, I'd like to have an embarrassment of riches on the DL. An edge rusher, either Carl Lawson or Jordan Willis would also be nice. Lawson Is fast and powerful. He can rush outside and inside. He's also good against the run. Willis is atop-notch pass rusher but he needs to work on holding the edge versus the run. He's a long 6-4 255 and he is very fast (4.53 forty). Me like speed and length. ILB Zach Cunningham would be a good pick. He has great instincts for the position, he's fast and long, but he must get stronger. He's also a shitty tackler who looks like a steer wrestler, so that would need to be fixed. There are also a couple of very talented woman-beating RB's who merit 2nd round consideration, based on talent alone. That is, if you can stand to see one of their sorry asses in a Redskins uniform. |
Re: 2017 Draft 2nd Round Pick Options
Pretty much what everyone else is saying. Cook or Mixon if they fall (that'd be 2 top 10 talents in one draft!)
Otherwise there are a ton of good D players left. If we go safety, I like Buddha Baker, I think his skill set is the perfect compliment to Swearinger and Cravens. |
Re: 2017 Draft 2nd Round Pick Options
RB: Mixon or Cook. Mixon preferred.
LB: Cunningham. DL: Malik or Wormley. DB: King, Baker, Obi... would consider Sidney Jones if our medical staff trusts him. |
Re: 2017 Draft 2nd Round Pick Options
Cunningham's athleticism is intriguing. Could help at LB in nickel situations - capable of covering tight ends but sturdy enough to thump.

I actually would be down with McDowell. If we're gonna' go BPA now, I'd go with him.

Yes, and he's not a tweener or a converted anything. By that I mean it looks like ILB is his natural position. He reads and reacts quickly and flies to the ball. He can also rush the passer from an OLB position. |

There is a good reason McDowell is available, he looks better on paper than on the field. The Redskins cannot afford high risk players, especially in the second round. Mixon probably is not on their board either. PFF ranked McDowell 7th against the run and 5th against the pass, nationally. PFF rated Allen 4th against the run and 3rd against the pass, nationally. Both of them can play inside or outside on the DL. That would be a helluva combination on our DL. Plus, if McDowell does indeed lack motivation at times, playing with Allen could be a very positive influence on him. I'm guessing we might need to move up to get McDowell but I'm starting to salivate at the idea of having both of them. |
Re: 2017 Draft 2nd Round Pick Options
I'll be curious to see who's available with our pick. If you told me somehow Lamp was there, I'd take him instead, but I'm actually OK with a semi-risky pick considering we got easily the steal of the draft.

Yeah to me with 16 picks ahead of us tonight, it doesn't make sense to hone in on one player. All you can do is make a list and hope one of them is there. Like last night at 13 we knew we would get a shot at either Reddick, Barnett, Hooker, Allen or Foster. Once we knew that we knew we'd be happy. Turned out we got the one of the five that we all collectively wanted more than the others. With our pick tonight I'd be happy with McDowell, Cunningham, Cook, Baker, several of the corners, Lamp if by miracle he dropped, etc. I hope for either the stud RB we're missing or a guy who can help improve our nightmare 3rd down defense. Athleticism on the defense, basically, in whatever form we can get it. |
Re: 2017 Draft 2nd Round Pick Options
Utah Safety Marcus Williams is worth a mention at #49 tonight. Would be more than OK with me if we did that.
Marcus Williams, S, Utah One Pac-12 coach referred to Williams as "freakish," and he's certainly a freakish athlete who was always around the football for the Utes. A three-year starter who appeared in 39 career games, Williams had 10 interceptions the past two seasons, five each year, and broke up eight passes. He's the ultimate center fielder who cleans up mistakes and makes plays. Most of the draft projections have Williams pegged as a third-round selection, and if he does last that long, the teams who need a safety and pass him by are going to be sorry. At 6-foot-1 and 202 pounds, Williams isn't necessarily the enforcer that a lot of NFL teams covet at safety, but he's a sure tackler and fast enough that he could also possibly play some corner. Moreover, Williams doesn't turn 21 until September. So as good as he was in college for the Utes, he has a chance to be even better in the pros.
Utah Utes safety Marcus Williams leads NFL draft sleepers [YT]etRckhYGZVw[/YT] |

Im gonna put it here cause we trying to get picks. But what do you think we can get for Matt Jones. A. Swap for another depth-type Player B. Conditional 7th round pick C. Bowl of dicks Only real hope is if McVay in LA was a fan and we could move for a late round pick. My replacement choice if we don't get Cook or Mixon: D'Onta Foreman Draft Profile – NFL.com guy is a fucking beast and he has speed for his size. |

Now I hope one of the two left drop to us, but I think Foreman would kind of round off the skill sets we need to compliment Kelly and Thomas. |

Cooley was hyping Tim Williams. I'll say this, at 4:30 in this video would be a good reason to bring him in with Allen. Williams fakes inside helping to draw the attention of the Center to the Right side (and away from Allen) he redirects and shifts his hips quickly while punching and swimming past the Tackle and he has him beat. This forces the QB to step up... Meanwhile, Allen gets off the snap quickly shooting toward the Gap to the Gaurds Left, he immediately engages the Gaurd with his hands and maintains leverage while he gains ground around the edge. Once he has the QB lined up in his sights, he disengages the Gaurd almost just shrugging him off. Now the QB forced inside by Williams is just swallowed up by Allen. By the way this all happened in about 5 seconds. Could be nice... |

Being in Norman, I'd like to see Joe but honestly I'd rather have Cook.
