Terrell Pryor Sr.
The Terrell Pryor Sr. experiment is over. All we heard coming into the season was his huge catch radius, but the way he short arms throws to the middle of the field, I see big body, small window for Kirk to hit. Two more drops last night. Then when he catches a sideline play late, he steps out of bounds a yard shy instead of taking contact. We let a warrior like Garcon walk for this? FRONT OFFICE FAIL. Thank God we only gave Pryor one year.

Awful. End of thread.

Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
That is what u get when a fucking genius like Dan Snyder is in charge of hiring other fucking geniuses to put together a football team. Pryor should not even be on an NFL roster. We have absolutely no weapons on offense except for a tight end that cannot stay healthy for three consecutive plays and a couple o lineman. Thank God our defense can hold the fort down ... oh wait they cant. Well atleast we have our special teams. Oh wait they suck too. I was hoping to wake up feeling a little better about the future of my football team. Apparently I didn’t. Have a lovely Tuesday everyone.

Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
I would say at this point cut your loses and try to trade or cut him and promote Robert Davis from the PS. Davis can’t be any worse.
|
Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
It doesn’t really matter. One wr is not going to make a difference. Unless he can call plays, run the football, and stop opposing teams on third down. Its just another year of the same old crap.
|
Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
We all saw that he played well for Cleveland last year, with multiple QB's. Either he can't grasp this offense, or he's a head case...or probably both....regardless he will see the field less and less I'm sure.
|
Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
I agree that Pryor hasn't panned out. I don't agree that it was a FO fail. They signed him to a 1 year show me deal. He hasn't. People need to understand we were NOT keeping DJax or Garcon. It wasn't happening. So they took a shot on a guy who looked promising, but they didn't overbuy either in length of contract or cash value.

Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
He's an avg WR at best, last yr his stats were padded because they were always losing. Doc isn't much better, he's never healthy and can't run routes. Skins have made big time mistakes at WR over the years.

Pretty much. Our job here is done boys. Let's go home. :Flush: |

Well really just this offseason, WR had been our strongest position. Basically they gambled like all teams have to do. They said with the age of Djax and PG plus factoring in the dollars they will want we will let them walk. We will back fill them with Doctson, sign Pryor and hope Crowder reaches the next level; sprinkle in some Grant for depth done and done. Honestly wasn't a bad bet unfortunately like any bet you have the chance to lose and so far this year we have lost on our WR bet. |

I liked the TP signing but he's not any good. |

I agree, the difference is Pryor's making millions of dollars so he'll probably be given more opportunities. |

I didn't have a problem with letting both go. You have a 1st rounder sitting there so you'd expect him to take over 1/2 of that production. It just hasn't happened. |

Crowder was a pretty damn good pick. Anywho, on Walters TP was the highest rated FA WR: WalterFootball.com: 2017 NFL Free Agents - Wide Receivers Sometimes its just bad luck. |
Terrell Pryor Sr.
I wouldn’t totally give up on TP, although it’s become painfully obvious he needs a lot more polish as a WR. Hard to say if he’s worth bringing back. I probably would move on after this year. He just doesn’t look like a natural pass catcher.
Doctson is essentially a rookie, gotta keep working him up. |

From the article: “It’s just the chemistry of the offense,” he said. “It’s a spread-the-ball-around offense. Like I said, it’s early. There are a lot of guys around the league starting fresh with new quarterbacks that isn’t killing the game, either. We have 10 games left. We’ll see what happens.” In CLE he was there only weapon so they probably geared the offense to him in the passing game. Here unless you are hot he is going to only get a few good looks a game. He has to make the most of those looks, if he is running bad routes KC is going check down to better options. Who knows, maybe he just sucks and last year was a flash in the pan. |
Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
For the Pierre Garcon crowd, both Kyle S. and Sean McVeigh were bidding on Garcon, which made him an expensive commodity.
I believe the team tried to get DJax, but got outbid by Tampa Bay. I don't blame the team going after Pryor, he was a low risk/high reward sign. But his ineffectiveness, along with both Crowder and Reed not doing much, has made the matter worst. |
Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
We knew what we were getting, which is a ex-qb still transitioning into a new role. His story ain't over yet but it doesn't look promising. Skins knew what they were doing, hence why it was a 1 year deal. After this year I doubt we bring him back. Obviously the trust between Kirk and Papa Doc isn't there yet, but he's in the same boat. He just needs PT to grow and become more comfortable. Once he learns routes, learns to come back to the qb, becomes a more effective run blocker, the trust between him and Kirk will grow.

Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
For those proposing the trade. Do you think TP is good enough to fetch a flavored bag of potato chips or will just be a plain bag of potato chips?
Why do folks think when we have a piece of garbage on a piece of garbage team that anyone would trade with us!!!!! |

With Doctson starting on the other side, we needed production from the X WR. They needed to overpay for Garcon, he earned it. |

They needed to overpay for Garcon, he earned it.
I think, but may be 100% wrong, that the team expected KC and his agent to negotiate from their starting offer, so they planned to save cap space by letting Garcon and DJax walk. I'm not saying KC was wrong with staying on the tag, but I think the inability for the two sides to even negotiate negatively impacted the teams financial plannings around the cap. |
Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
Let’s call TP what he is, a complete bust signing. Fuck this guy. We need to find a solid vet to bring in this season.

lolllllllll agreed. |
Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
I can't say I'm disappointed with Pryor....this is on Scott Campbell and Doug Williams.....they obviously didn't evaluate Pryor properly.... he's a quarterback playing wide receiver.... he's not a wide receiver....he only excelled in Cleveland last year because they had to pass a lot.....his perpetual drops don't irritate me anymore.
|
Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
I don't understand what is it about a 1-year 6 million dollar deal that people call a player a bust. I mean, if the team had given Pryor a multi-year contract with a lot of guaranteed money, then yeah he's a bust.
Financially, Pryor's deal is low risk. The team can opt not to sign him next year (which will most likely happen), and the loss is minimal. From a football perspective, yeah it sucks that he is not living up to his performance last year. But as I said before, it is made worst by the fact that Reed has been (and to me it still looks like he's) hurt, Crowder has not taken that next step that I feel the team thought he would take. Doctson is coming along, but not enough to help the passing game (I think he'll get there). |

You win some, you lose some. For a T. Pryor that they missed, they hit on Zach Brown (same situation, free agent on a 1-year prove it deal). |

I agree. Also Mo Harris got work last year. Put these guys in. I know Harris can at least catch the ball. Thee coaches seem so hell bent on playing Pryor when it's obvious to everyone he can't play. |
Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
Well he’s effectively been benched and his PT was steadily declining, it’s obvious Jay knows he can’t play.
|
Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
I would bring back Rashad Ross. We need some speed on special teams and he can be a vertical threat at WR.
Robert Davis is another option that someone previously mentioned. Might as well see what we got with him. My preference is Ross since he can help on ST. |
Well he’s effectively been benched and his PT was steadily declining, it’s obvious Jay knows he can’t play.
he came out publicly and was smart - not pulling a martevious bryant - and sd he knows coach is coach and he needs to earn his time. He knows he's still learning, we know that too. The guy is a great athlete but he's just not a WR yet.... and whoever takes his place the coaches are seeing they deserve it in practice.. Grant gets playing time and he does make some catches - but I would like to see us getting faster... and maybe not 100% give up on PRYOR UNTIL HE COMES AROUND. |
Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
I listened to Cooley on the Audio Vault and he said he'd bench both Docston and Pryor. He'd bring up Harris and Davis..... wow.
|
Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
Benching Doctson is dumbest fucking thing the Skins could do. What a fucking idiot.
Ryan Grant on the field isn't a good thing...he isn't Garcon. He's not nearly as smart as Garcon and certainly doesn't have the speed or hands. Grant on the field in "occasional" packages I have no problem with...but anything over 50% of O snaps...he brings relatively no threat. Hurts our offense overall. |

We need to develop Doctson. if he isn't improving, we need to fire his receivers coach (Ike Hilliard). Someone needs to be held accountable for this mess! It's hard to fault Grant because he runs good routes and has hands but he just isn't going to make a play. I feel like DBs are sitting on his routes waiting for a pick6. |
Re: Terrell Pryor Sr.
Captain Chaos has good analyses but he isn't 100%. Doctson needs to be in for as many plays as humanly possible. Reps reps reps. He has the talent, you can see it.

Cooley looks at film, so my guess there is a reason why he's saying to bench him. |

His run blocking is very underwhelming to say the least, but I also agree the worst thing we could do is bench him right now. He needs rep, and some tough love. Not sure Ike Hilliard is the right guy for that job either, but that needs to be handled in the offseason. |
